was positive. More Cuddyer i guess since we assumed Flores was ok since he stayed in the game. Hopefully by being smart with this Wright can just miss a couple weeks, that said i feel like he is going to miss more then that.
Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman, a Gold Glove Award recipient in 2009, made four throwing errors in a five-game span in April. His manager, Davey Johnson, attempted to pin the problem on Zimmerman's surgically repaired shoulder. Zimmerman, however, deflected that excuse and hinted that the issue was a mental one.
"People make errors. It's going to happen again before the year is over," Zimmerman said. "Everyone is going to make errors. It's part of the game. Nobody wants it to happen. Of course, you feel bad. You play baseball long enough, that kind of stuff happens. It's part of the game. If you let it consume you, that's what gets you."

Tyner witnessed pitcher Matt Garza, then his teammate in Tampa Bay, struggle to complete ordinary throws to first base.
"If you bunted on him, he's throwing it down the right-field line," Tyner said. "It wasn't even close. You'd see him over on a back field working on it and it'd look like a 6-year-old trying to throw to first base. He could throw 95 mph wherever he wants to the batter, but he could not throw the ball to first base."

Indians closer Chris Perez has seen infielders and pitchers alike demonstrate symptoms of the Yips, with their minds only getting in their way.
"They're telling themselves before it's hit, 'Don't throw it in the dirt,'" Perez said. "And of course, they throw it right in the dirt."
No way a mental hurdle could have been getting in the way of a 23 year old kid's fielding with limited experience even though he's demonstrated in the past that he's perfectly capable of adequately fielding the position.
I found it a bad game that was highly entertaining. Guys hit by a pitch that weren't, catcher's interference that wasn't , Cuddyer gets hurt and the first play his replacement makes is the number 1 defensive highlight of the night. Utley who took out someone in a borderline dirty slide a couple of years ago got drilled and stared down by Harvey. Ryan Howard showing the athleticism of a cadaver. Familia making it interesting before closing the door. Davis Wright teaching Little Leaguers how not to slide. Terry Collins appeals a play that is not appeal able and ices Matt Harvey. Terry Collins gets thrown out. The Mets win

like none of the injuries are serious, so nothing to panic about. The Nats are dealing with a lot of injuries to their line up (and Zimmerman and Strasburg looking like dogshit).
Hopefully Wright can avoid the DL and play vs Florida this weekend, but it looks like they are going to keep him out for 2 weeks as a precaution. It's nice to see Duda and D'Arnaud hitting.
I didn't think Niese looked too good in his first outing. Would love to see a strong outing from him against a bad Philly team. Win tonight, split the Gee/Colon games vs FLA, and win the DeGrom/Harvey games and we are off and running!
But you can't deny it was an exciting game to watch. Memorable. The stadium was rocking, and the fans were rewarded. When was the last time a Mets game felt like that in the regular season???

Crowd was great last night. I was at opening day and they were good too, but last night was something else. If this team can string some wins together early on this season, the place will be jumping this summer.
I saw the game until Harvey exited, glad to see they won but it's
a gut shot to hear Wright got hurt too. Gotta shut him and Cuddyer down and just give them as long as they need to get healthy. I'm sure Campbell is the likely replacement at 3B since he got off to a hot start in AAA and there's now a gaping RH hole in the lineup. I'd also consider putting Murphy at 3B and bringing up Reynolds to play 2B. I'm guessing we'll see mostly Tejada/Cambell though, and maybe they also bring up Muno?
Not sure how I'd adjust the lineup in light of both injuries. I think I'd start by moving Lagares up to the 2 hole. You could move Granderson into the middle to be more of a run producer, but then you run into problems trying to break up all the lefty bats in the middle of the lineup. Granderson - Lagares - Duda - TdA - Murphy - Mayberry isn't terrible. Mayberry/Kirk platoon won't kill them.
I guess the good news is they weren't hitting much anyways and good teams find a way to win?
First person, your "bias" opinion that Flores is nervous based on the crowd size doesn't justify why he pulled off of SS in 2012 in front of a small crowds in the minors. When you're in a hole, stop digging. Reaching for Knoblauch analogies is sad.
He played in 2011 and was pulled off in 2012. Keep digging that hole. Must have been a big crowd and not that he's not a natural SS like the scouts, etc have stated. You know more than scouts now right #87?
And yet, here he is... in the MAJORS playing SS every day for the Mets.
Seems like you're the one who thinks he knows more than the scouts. Not me.
And of course you're hung up on a random part of a post. It's about more than the crowd. This is the only position open enough for this kid to etch himself in as an every day player. We already have a 3rd baseman. We already have a 2nd baseman with a promising kid coming up right behind him.
If Flores can't hack it, he's basically SOL. It's a lot of pressure for a 23 year old kid. He has little assurance that he's sticking there for the long-haul.
There's a mental aspect to every sport. Even the simple minded should understand that.
Not reading beyond a few lines as the i posted quotes from Scouts on multiple occassions. Stick with th theories about nerves etc. Enjoy your day here, i'm sure i can catch your daily #87 at any and all hours. NJ
Wow. You really, really cannot even put together a normal sentence. Not even an easy one.
Proofreading. It's your friend. Try it sometime.
And you're trying way too hard with the Crosby thing. It's neither funny or clever. Your humor is about as strong as your grammar. Douche chill inducing.
To figure out what you yoddels are cranking about, but didn't Steve Sax and Macky Sasser forget how to throw?
I was out of the country this week, is a Mets player having throwing issues? Flores? Wright had a bad time throwing at one point. Only on hard hit balls that he had time to think
feels.. the point I was trying to make, which (as usual) went over the village idiots head, was that despite some of the throwing issues Flores has had, he's shown in the past that he has a good arm and is pretty accurate.
I basically chalked up the bad throws to some nerves and the fact that the situation Flores is in is probably putting a lot of pressure on him to be perfect because he doesn't know how much rope he has.
But apparently that was the most absurd thing to ever say. How could anyone possibly be nervous in a situation like that?! The scouts say he can't play SS, so.. he can't play. We're just wasting our time.
be an issue with Flores but I think his track record in the minors shows that he has a pretty solid arm that can play at either SS or 3B.
Bottom line is that Flores needs to hit. If he doesn't hit, there's going to be pressure on him. The Mets are committed to giving him ABs for now, so let's hope it works out well.
It's strong enough to play SS, sure. But when was it decided he has a very accurate arm? Just my own personal opinion, but hasn't he always been a little short/low on his throws?
Well, I said pretty accurate.. I didn't say very accurate.
Here's what I think it comes down to..
If Flores can be a guy who hits .270, pops 15 HR's with around 35 two baggers, does anyone think his defense would be too poor to keep him there? I don't.
The guy is never going to be a wiz but I am fairly certain he can be adequate in the field if he's a guy who hits.
someone said it during a recent broadcast re: Flores defense
his biggest problem is his footwork. He has shown decent range and a strong arm, but where he has gotten into trouble is his footwork transitioning to the throw, which has led to inaccurate throws. That said I tend to agree with Arc, if he starts hitting and he can continue to show improvement he has enough ability to stick there.

Where are you getting this from? Murphy was just out three weeks for something that looked WAY more minor then what happened to Wright. I'm betting Wright is out at least a month. Probably longer.
3 weeks to come back from a pull that looked much lesser than Wrights. Murphy walked without a limp when it first happened. I suppose this is good news though. Maybe he'll be back early May sometime.

It makes sense that they would take an extra long time in spring. The way wright was talking yesterday, it sounded like he could play through this if he wants. I think we'll see him back in 2-3 weeks, closer to 2 hopefully. I'm usually really pessimistic when it comes to injuries but don't have a bad feeling with this one.
He said it himself before the season started that he has to understand where he's at as far as age goes and he has to learn to be more cautious and not push himself through injuries he knows he shouldn't.
That probably has a lot to do with why he yanked himself last night. I guarantee you he was standing on the bases thinking to himself "in the past, I've forced myself through these.. I need to think better of it now like I said I would"

LOL.
Just something I made up... - ( New Window )
That kind of sapped the fun out of the game.
I really want to sweep this fuckers tonight now. Fuck last night.
Dont forget Recker playing 3rd! lol

Stop feeding the troll and let him go back to his home under the bridge.
Let's Go Mets
Stop feeding the troll and let him go back to his home under the bridge.
LOL, yeah.. you're right. I'm probably the only person who has even acknowledged him recently so he's loving the attention.
Time to let him crawl back into his basement.
Got it - agree with #87 or be labeled a troll.
Have to appreciate the effort at least. No matter how unfunny it is, the guy is just going to go down swinging with it no matter what it takes. LOL...

Him and Lagares need to start hitting, especially if wright is down for a while. I'm not worried about it, though. He just needs to get it going.
DW 128
Cuddy 126
Darnaud 114
Granderson and Duda tied for team lead with .406 OBP.
Murphy, Lagares, and Flores needs to pick it up.

New York Mets @Mets
He underwent an MRI at HSS and received a cortisone shot. He will rest for 2 days and will resume baseball actives as tolerated.
all things considered, sounds like best case scenario for both him and Cuddyer.
Is a shot significant? Cortisone is just for swelling normally.
It's usually football players that take cortisone shots to play thru pain.
Call up Reynolds?
I thought Meija being on restricted opened a spot on the 40?

He jumped down the steps into the dugout.
