Should feel like the first ever playoff game at citi. If he opens the game with a K, that roar will sound amazing. Bossing he can get a lot of two strike counts so the fans can have a great time tonight!!
Pumped life back into this fan base. I know it was also electric yesterday for Opening Day, but I feel that this is all stemming from Harvey. Very pumped to see him on the bump tonight.
So pumped. Wifey has relented and I'm off for a solo trip to citi. Plopped down a chunk of change for second row behind the dugout. Never would have done this last year. So true and unbelievable the magnitude of his impact on the franchise.
and you see a rejuvenate fan base that sees the same thing, it's a good feeling. The vibe at Citi Field from people I know who went said it was different. If Harvey is Harvet tonight, you watch and see something you are not used to seeing, big crowds at Citi Field
I was there yesterday, it was the most vibrant Citi Field has been in any year I've been there. The concourses were mobbed with people so if it looked like there were a few empty seats at points in the game, there were people everywhere.
We got there at 10:30 and the lot was FULL of tailgaters. Literally hundreds of Met fans out there hours before first pitch. Met colors everywhere. People were loud, they were excited. It was fun.
Coleman says his gut feel is Mejia never pitches for the Mets again. Talk about hypocrites if this is accurate... who pitched opening day again? Did I dream up Marlon Byrd signing here?

He probably never closes for them. But I'd be shocked if he never throws another pitch in a Mets uni. Whole team and organization are angry at him - and the whole story is More than just a failed piss test. It goes a drop deeper than just that. But never another pitch for the organization? I doubt that's the case.

What's the story behind "more than just a failed piss test"?
Sandy has already said the organization has turned a page and is moving on. He'll be back after the all-star break but I agree he will never close again.

I didn't HEAR Sandy's tone but it actually sounded pretty dismissive.
"“That’s not going to slow us down,” Sandy Alderson told the Daily News about losing Mejia for 80 games, as well as the playoffs should the Mets get to October (April 14). “I hope our bullpen is pitching so well there is not a spot for him. I hope he is not a factor.”"
Maybe he's just pumping up the guys he has but to me it reads pretty "angry". I was really just focusing on Ed Coleman's claim.
and Bobby Parnell are now active on the St. Lucie roster. I was under the impression Black was going to go straight to Vegas to pitch but I guess not yet. Both could conceivably be pitching in a game tonight.

but got roughed up against the Sox. I expect him to pitch better tonight. His ceiling is only a number 4 though.
Not many of you follow the Phils that is needed, but a typical dumb move Amaro was signing Revere to arbitration. He was an abomination in CF last year, but people were enamored with his BA with no power.
Well it only took one offseason to find his replacement in CF (a rule 5 pick who never played it before), now he has been dropped to 8th in the lineup.
Revere is such a useless layer outside of pinch running, yet we rush to sign him as if he is some valuable piece.
So different. Elevator attendant spontaneously offered how awesome the vibe was yesterday. Expects almost 40k tonight. Expectation and hope bouncing around the joint. This place could be amazing with just a little sustained success. What an aw some night. And this is before first pitch!!
What's the story behind "more than just a failed piss test"?
I don't know any more than you do, just guessing there is more to it,that's all.
So why does your post state it as if you do? You blatantly said "Whole team and organization are angry at him - and the whole story is More than just a failed piss test. It goes a drop deeper than just that." .. those were your words. I don't see any "maybe" in there or anything to suggest you're just guessing.
but more because they haven't liked his behavior in the past (they've called him selfish before) and view this as more of that. Even so I'd be shocked if they just got rid of him outright for a bag of balls. Worst case he's a nice luxury to have to save some innings on the arms of guys we will hopefully need for the postseason.
Well, that Utley HR was a little bit of a bummer.. Â
Then what was the noise before hitting the catchers mitt?
The woosh of his sleeve from the ball flying past it about a millimeter away. They froze it right where it passed him and you could see a tiny space there. It didn't touch him
Cuddyers hand is broken. Can't wait to see Cory Vaughn on the bench. And everyone will blame it on Cuddyer being injury prone. Like a 90 plus mph fastball in the hand/finger area isnt going to fuck up anyone.

It didn't fuck up Flores.
Cuddyer is an injury prone pussy.
Do you KNOW his hand is broken or are you just expecting it like the rest of us?
Yes it did. Ball made contact with two things. The batter and the glove. You heard two different noises.
It could have hit two parts of the catchers mitt. Either way, definitely saw daylight between the batter and the ball.
Ill have to watch it again. But that was a pretty distinct to me. The timing of it made it impossible for it to be two different parts of the mitt (not sure how thats possible being that I caught over 15 years). I believe it hit him as he was trying to get it out of the way before the ball passed him.
Seemed like an easy call and there wasnt anything definitive to say it clearly went through.
But to your point, getting hit on the hand is just terrible luck...
Eh. Mostly all freak random injuries in different areas mostly all in the last few years. I'd consider a guy with chronic knees or a chronic back injury prone but we probably have different definitions.
but McCarthy is even worse as an announcer. He was GUSHING and Screaming about the throw Revere made to home plate. It was 30 feet from the IF against Lucas Duda, and it still didnt reach home. Any other LF guns him down.
I'm still trying to wrap my head around that play at the plate Â
Tim Teufel sends Duda when he probably shouldn't have. Duda is clearly safe but the HP ump doesn't make a call. Duda and the catcher have moment in disbelief before both diving for the plate like it was a cartoon. Then the HP ump calls Duda safe when it didn't even look like Duda got back to the plate.

Does that cover it? My head hurts.
1. Revere has the worst arm in baseball.
2. The ump didnt make a call because Ruiz never tagged him and he thought Duda missed the plate.
3. He called him safe because Duda got his hand under the glove of Ruiz and he assumed he hit the plate.
This made no sense in the first place. Campbell should be up here.
I mostly agree. He's killing it in Vegas btw. I understand they wanted to protect the starting pitching in the early going but if flo, Juan, and murph were hitting this wouldn't be an issue.
is becoming a blessing in disguise. Although Collins have designated familia as the closer, he's forced to go match up by match up regardless of inning.

Dep, I almost shit myself when he said it wasn't catchers interference.
Dark Knight and I don't give a fuck about the radio guys talking about his demeanor. Dial what back? 6 innings 3 runs no walks and 8k's. Most pitchers would sign up for that in a NY minute
flores at SS. Tejada 2nd. Ugh messes up with the lineup. Campbell has to come up with the pulled hammy of Wright. Possibly add another position player so hello Muno?
I was hoping i was wrong on the prediction thread. Athletes don't get LESS injury prone as they get older. Let's hope its a quick, but I'm not surprised in the least.
should neutralize the lefties but ruf and franceour will probably start. Also Blevins is hopefully available tomorrow. I think Collins is about to destroy his career. DW will probably be dl'd unless the doctors are absolutely positive he can play in a couple days.
He just can't stay healthy. He's not just playing because he makes a lot of money.
They want to see if Flores can man SS or not. It was obvious when Tejada got his start at 2B. Alderson pretty clearly made it known to Collins that Flores is going to play SS every day for some amount of time and I don't see them abandoning that now.
The kid isn't a SS and everybody worth their salt knows it. The team has nothing at the position so they put Flores there b/c of his bat. If any lother SS could hit their weight Flores would be off SS.
There is no other player on this team who is as good a hitter as David Wright and it's not even debatable.
If everyone knew Flores couldn't play SS at all, he wouldn't be there right now. They'd be hoping for replacement level with Tejada or have fast tracked Reynolds a bit.
If he hits the way they think he can, it'll be worth it. They're not going to jump ship on it 9 games into the year.
Gary Apple just called Matt Harvey the Black Knight Â
Yes, Wright is likely the best hitter if not Murphy. Regardless, put Flores on a different team and he's a 3rd baseman. He's not a SS and eveybody besides a few knows that. Not putting Flores at SS means what? The Mets will still hope his bat produces? Don't tell me you really believe his range and glove to the side is going to improve. This is as good as his defense is going to get and that's not very good.
Collins made it sound like Wright's leg was hanging Â
off his body...yet Wright stayed in the game at first and then briskly walked off the field and down the steps on his own power with just a slight limp. Weird game all the way until the end.
For whatever reason he's made bad throws to 1B.. which is out of the ordinary because he has a good arm and has been pretty accurate in the past. He's a young kid who is probably nervous and putting an insane amount of pressure on himself. He was adequate in the field last year when he started getting regular PT. If he hits, his defense won't be the end of the world.
Ian Desmond has been an absolute joke defensively so far this year.. I don't foresee him losing his place anytime soon because he can hit.

Honestly, again with the range? Holy fucking shit. Outside of a couple of plays that really only outstanding shortstops get to, what the hell are you seeing that we are not? That one bad game aside, what games has he lost for the Mets because of his "bad range"?
Are you just regurgitating the ignorant media bullshit that they all seem to be reporting from the same 5 year old scouting report?
Who the heck gets nervous on a routine GB and throw? A SS can do it with his eyes closed. He's not a SS.
Gee, I don't know.. maybe a fucking 23 year old kid playing baseball in front of tens of thousands of people on television at a position he hasn't had much experience playing since he was a kid?

With only 8 games this season, you have to give him more of a chance to fail. Unless ur some baseball expert or scout.
The experts and scout had him pegged as a 3rd baseman. The Mets themselves moved to 3rd in 2012. Even the novices should know that. Not to mention, he's been take off SS on multiple occassions since the age if 16 if you haven't been paying attention outisde of 8 RG games.

He played SS for 4 years in the Mets organization when he first arrive Â

David Wright sounds prepared to go on DL. Will have MRI in morning. Says missing 2 weeks preferable to pushing through, causing major issue.

We don't know how well he will play SS but we know his bat has always play in that position. Players who has his numbers in the minors more than not have done well in the majors.

If they dl dw now, he can technically be back before May. Most likely give him 2-3 games in the minors before deactivating him.

Uh, he was moved off SS in the minors after 2011. He didn't play there at all in 2012 or 2013. Nothing I said was inaccurate. He was 19 years old in 2011 and until last season, he literally did not play there at all. He was moved to 2B and 3B.
Good effort, though. One day you'll contribute something interesting or insightful to a Met thread.

Wrong again and despite being a huge fan of yourself perhaps you might consider posting some accurate information rather than whining at others daily. You've become the Crosby of BBI with all the whining.

You can't even construct a string of simple, grammatically correct sentences.
I'm afraid I just cannot take you seriously. (Not that anyone on these threads does)
Nothing I posted was "wrong"
Until last season, he hadn't played SS since he was a 19 year old kid. Hence, he doesn't have all that much recent experience there... which was kind of my point. Unsurprisingly, you're just as bad at understanding English as you are speaking/typing it.
You're wrong. Your theories about "he's nervous" blah, blah, blah is your bias nonsense. Did you even play the game beyond Little League? You don't sound like you understand the game as your bias tantrums have more to do with emotion b/c the kid simply wears a Mets uniform. Myself and many love the kid like F-Mart but put down the kool aid. He's not a SS despite your Crosby tantrum and it's not nerves. A SS can field and throw in his sleep much like a CF glides back for a ball or takes his first step back on a ball hit right at him. Not that you demonstrate you know much besides reciting where the play occurred (impressive acumen)and pulling a Crosby with others while praising yourself for bias reasons.

I think "biased" is the word you're looking for. Try using the phrase correctly before putting it in yet another nonsensical paragraph 10 times. You sound like even more of a moron than you already are. Again simple English is quite the struggle for the simple mind. No surprises here.
If you don't think nerves and pressure are a part of sports, I don't know what to tell you. Only thousands of athletes who have actually played the game have revealed that and it's just common sense. Flores is perfectly capable of throwing the ball to first base. He's done it thousands of times.
How long was Knoblauch in baseball before he started sailing throws to 1B like it was his job? That was a guy with a Gold Glove on his resume and numerous All-Star appearances. "Not a SS", though.. right?
Leave it to the phillies to make a Harvey start an Â
was positive. More Cuddyer i guess since we assumed Flores was ok since he stayed in the game. Hopefully by being smart with this Wright can just miss a couple weeks, that said i feel like he is going to miss more then that.
Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman, a Gold Glove Award recipient in 2009, made four throwing errors in a five-game span in April. His manager, Davey Johnson, attempted to pin the problem on Zimmerman's surgically repaired shoulder. Zimmerman, however, deflected that excuse and hinted that the issue was a mental one.
"People make errors. It's going to happen again before the year is over," Zimmerman said. "Everyone is going to make errors. It's part of the game. Nobody wants it to happen. Of course, you feel bad. You play baseball long enough, that kind of stuff happens. It's part of the game. If you let it consume you, that's what gets you."
Quote:
Tyner witnessed pitcher Matt Garza, then his teammate in Tampa Bay, struggle to complete ordinary throws to first base.
"If you bunted on him, he's throwing it down the right-field line," Tyner said. "It wasn't even close. You'd see him over on a back field working on it and it'd look like a 6-year-old trying to throw to first base. He could throw 95 mph wherever he wants to the batter, but he could not throw the ball to first base."
Quote:
Indians closer Chris Perez has seen infielders and pitchers alike demonstrate symptoms of the Yips, with their minds only getting in their way.
"They're telling themselves before it's hit, 'Don't throw it in the dirt,'" Perez said. "And of course, they throw it right in the dirt."
No way a mental hurdle could have been getting in the way of a 23 year old kid's fielding with limited experience even though he's demonstrated in the past that he's perfectly capable of adequately fielding the position.
I found it a bad game that was highly entertaining. Guys hit by a pitch that weren't, catcher's interference that wasn't , Cuddyer gets hurt and the first play his replacement makes is the number 1 defensive highlight of the night. Utley who took out someone in a borderline dirty slide a couple of years ago got drilled and stared down by Harvey. Ryan Howard showing the athleticism of a cadaver. Familia making it interesting before closing the door. Davis Wright teaching Little Leaguers how not to slide. Terry Collins appeals a play that is not appeal able and ices Matt Harvey. Terry Collins gets thrown out. The Mets win

like none of the injuries are serious, so nothing to panic about. The Nats are dealing with a lot of injuries to their line up (and Zimmerman and Strasburg looking like dogshit).
Hopefully Wright can avoid the DL and play vs Florida this weekend, but it looks like they are going to keep him out for 2 weeks as a precaution. It's nice to see Duda and D'Arnaud hitting.
I didn't think Niese looked too good in his first outing. Would love to see a strong outing from him against a bad Philly team. Win tonight, split the Gee/Colon games vs FLA, and win the DeGrom/Harvey games and we are off and running!
But you can't deny it was an exciting game to watch. Memorable. The stadium was rocking, and the fans were rewarded. When was the last time a Mets game felt like that in the regular season???

Crowd was great last night. I was at opening day and they were good too, but last night was something else. If this team can string some wins together early on this season, the place will be jumping this summer.
I saw the game until Harvey exited, glad to see they won but it's Â
a gut shot to hear Wright got hurt too. Gotta shut him and Cuddyer down and just give them as long as they need to get healthy. I'm sure Campbell is the likely replacement at 3B since he got off to a hot start in AAA and there's now a gaping RH hole in the lineup. I'd also consider putting Murphy at 3B and bringing up Reynolds to play 2B. I'm guessing we'll see mostly Tejada/Cambell though, and maybe they also bring up Muno?
Not sure how I'd adjust the lineup in light of both injuries. I think I'd start by moving Lagares up to the 2 hole. You could move Granderson into the middle to be more of a run producer, but then you run into problems trying to break up all the lefty bats in the middle of the lineup. Granderson - Lagares - Duda - TdA - Murphy - Mayberry isn't terrible. Mayberry/Kirk platoon won't kill them.
I guess the good news is they weren't hitting much anyways and good teams find a way to win?
First person, your "bias" opinion that Flores is nervous based on the crowd size doesn't justify why he pulled off of SS in 2012 in front of a small crowds in the minors. When you're in a hole, stop digging. Reaching for Knoblauch analogies is sad.
He played in 2011 and was pulled off in 2012. Keep digging that hole. Must have been a big crowd and not that he's not a natural SS like the scouts, etc have stated. You know more than scouts now right #87?
And yet, here he is... in the MAJORS playing SS every day for the Mets.
Seems like you're the one who thinks he knows more than the scouts. Not me.
And of course you're hung up on a random part of a post. It's about more than the crowd. This is the only position open enough for this kid to etch himself in as an every day player. We already have a 3rd baseman. We already have a 2nd baseman with a promising kid coming up right behind him.
If Flores can't hack it, he's basically SOL. It's a lot of pressure for a 23 year old kid. He has little assurance that he's sticking there for the long-haul.
There's a mental aspect to every sport. Even the simple minded should understand that.
Not reading beyond a few lines as the i posted quotes from Scouts on multiple occassions. Stick with th theories about nerves etc. Enjoy your day here, i'm sure i can catch your daily #87 at any and all hours. NJ
Wow. You really, really cannot even put together a normal sentence. Not even an easy one.
Proofreading. It's your friend. Try it sometime.
And you're trying way too hard with the Crosby thing. It's neither funny or clever. Your humor is about as strong as your grammar. Douche chill inducing.
To figure out what you yoddels are cranking about, but didn't Steve Sax and Macky Sasser forget how to throw?
I was out of the country this week, is a Mets player having throwing issues? Flores? Wright had a bad time throwing at one point. Only on hard hit balls that he had time to think
feels.. the point I was trying to make, which (as usual) went over the village idiots head, was that despite some of the throwing issues Flores has had, he's shown in the past that he has a good arm and is pretty accurate.
I basically chalked up the bad throws to some nerves and the fact that the situation Flores is in is probably putting a lot of pressure on him to be perfect because he doesn't know how much rope he has.
But apparently that was the most absurd thing to ever say. How could anyone possibly be nervous in a situation like that?! The scouts say he can't play SS, so.. he can't play. We're just wasting our time.
be an issue with Flores but I think his track record in the minors shows that he has a pretty solid arm that can play at either SS or 3B.
Bottom line is that Flores needs to hit. If he doesn't hit, there's going to be pressure on him. The Mets are committed to giving him ABs for now, so let's hope it works out well.
It's strong enough to play SS, sure. But when was it decided he has a very accurate arm? Just my own personal opinion, but hasn't he always been a little short/low on his throws?
Well, I said pretty accurate.. I didn't say very accurate.
Here's what I think it comes down to..
If Flores can be a guy who hits .270, pops 15 HR's with around 35 two baggers, does anyone think his defense would be too poor to keep him there? I don't.
The guy is never going to be a wiz but I am fairly certain he can be adequate in the field if he's a guy who hits.
someone said it during a recent broadcast re: Flores defense Â
his biggest problem is his footwork. He has shown decent range and a strong arm, but where he has gotten into trouble is his footwork transitioning to the throw, which has led to inaccurate throws. That said I tend to agree with Arc, if he starts hitting and he can continue to show improvement he has enough ability to stick there.
like none of the injuries are serious, so nothing to panic about.
Where are you getting this from? Murphy was just out three weeks for something that looked WAY more minor then what happened to Wright. I'm betting Wright is out at least a month. Probably longer.
3 weeks to come back from a pull that looked much lesser than Wrights. Murphy walked without a limp when it first happened. I suppose this is good news though. Maybe he'll be back early May sometime.

It makes sense that they would take an extra long time in spring. The way wright was talking yesterday, it sounded like he could play through this if he wants. I think we'll see him back in 2-3 weeks, closer to 2 hopefully. I'm usually really pessimistic when it comes to injuries but don't have a bad feeling with this one.
He said it himself before the season started that he has to understand where he's at as far as age goes and he has to learn to be more cautious and not push himself through injuries he knows he shouldn't.
That probably has a lot to do with why he yanked himself last night. I guarantee you he was standing on the bases thinking to himself "in the past, I've forced myself through these.. I need to think better of it now like I said I would"
Quick. Someone tell the Front Office to look outside. They can start spending again. The fans are doing their part!!!
Ha! Good one, HH...
We got there at 10:30 and the lot was FULL of tailgaters. Literally hundreds of Met fans out there hours before first pitch. Met colors everywhere. People were loud, they were excited. It was fun.
Dude, spoiler alert??? What a jerk.
He probably never closes for them. But I'd be shocked if he never throws another pitch in a Mets uni. Whole team and organization are angry at him - and the whole story is More than just a failed piss test. It goes a drop deeper than just that. But never another pitch for the organization? I doubt that's the case.
Quote:
Coleman says his gut feel is Mejia never pitches for the Mets again. Talk about hypocrites if this is accurate... who pitched opening day again? Did I dream up Marlon Byrd signing here?

What's the story behind "more than just a failed piss test"?
I didn't HEAR Sandy's tone but it actually sounded pretty dismissive.
"“That’s not going to slow us down,” Sandy Alderson told the Daily News about losing Mejia for 80 games, as well as the playoffs should the Mets get to October (April 14). “I hope our bullpen is pitching so well there is not a spot for him. I hope he is not a factor.”"
Maybe he's just pumping up the guys he has but to me it reads pretty "angry". I was really just focusing on Ed Coleman's claim.

No that was the year we didn't sign back to back high picks. Buchanan and Damien DJ Magnifico.
Fuckign Amaro.
What's the story behind "more than just a failed piss test"?
I don't know any more than you do, just guessing there is more to it,that's all.

So why does your post state it as if you do? You blatantly said "Whole team and organization are angry at him - and the whole story is More than just a failed piss test. Making fun of the Phillies is like making fun of an athlete in the special olympics. Its just not nice.
Buchanan sucks. And yet we dont have a single AAA pitcher who can pitch in the majors.
Dude, relax. DW worked that atbat.

yup, that would be his luck.

Yes he was. You can hear it. Plain as day.
Then what was the noise before hitting the catchers mitt?

The woosh of his sleeve from the ball flying past it about a millimeter away. They froze it right where it passed him and you could see a tiny space there. It didn't touch him

Yes it did. Ball made contact with two things. The batter and the glove. You heard two different noises.

It could have hit two parts of the catchers mitt. Either way, definitely saw daylight between the batter and the ball.
Come on.
LOL, love it.
The woosh!
Come on.
Ill wager that its more audible than passing the swoosh of the sleeve....lol
It's officially broken? Awesome...
It didn't fuck up Flores.
Cuddyer is an injury prone pussy.
Do you KNOW his hand is broken or are you just expecting it like the rest of us?

Ill have to watch it again. But that was a pretty distinct to me. The timing of it made it impossible for it to be two different parts of the mitt (not sure how thats possible being that I caught over 15 years). I believe it hit him as he was trying to get it out of the way before the ball passed him.
Seemed like an easy call and there wasnt anything definitive to say it clearly went through.
I was just kidding.
I hate him.

But to your point, getting hit on the hand is just terrible luck...

I was replying to Z, I assumed you were kidding...
Eh. Mostly all freak random injuries in different areas mostly all in the last few years. I'd consider a guy with chronic knees or a chronic back injury prone but we probably have different definitions.
I hate him.
Lol I was thinking the same thing.
A guy who has played in 150+ games a whopping 3 times in 12 full seasons is injury prone...

Maybe because Harvey and the Mets were dealing before that idiotic seven minute challenge? Way to ice your own team.
right church, wrong pew, as NY's #1 would say.
Yeah, but not the passed ball, lol

Ok ok. My bad. Lol
Does that cover it? My head hurts.
Any other LF Teufel holds Duda
Does that cover it? My head hurts.
1. Revere has the worst arm in baseball.
2. The ump didnt make a call because Ruiz never tagged him and he thought Duda missed the plate.
3. He called him safe because Duda got his hand under the glove of Ruiz and he assumed he hit the plate.
They got it right, which is all that matters.
This made no sense in the first place. Campbell should be up here.

I mostly agree. He's killing it in Vegas btw. I understand they wanted to protect the starting pitching in the early going but if flo, Juan, and murph were hitting this wouldn't be an issue.
Dep, I almost shit myself when he said it wasn't catchers interference.
When the pitcher doubled I heard him bust a nut.
Sounded like he put his dog to sleep lol
Anything middle and in, he'll destroy, I'm not sure about his oppo power however.
Also, the dark knight is the worst nickname in sports.

Dont quote me on this, but Utley has 1 oppo home run in the last 5 or 6 years.
If you're in the NL, you should never have a 4 man bench.
Then Tejada is playing SS. Call up Soup to play 3B
Fuck the Phillies. Nothing ever good comes from playing them. Satan's team. Ironically, their team color is red.
Now we have Niese and Gee coming up. Gross.
I was hoping i was wrong on the prediction thread. Athletes don't get LESS injury prone as they get older. Let's hope its a quick, but I'm not surprised in the least.
They want to see if Flores can man SS or not. It was obvious when Tejada got his start at 2B. Alderson pretty clearly made it known to Collins that Flores is going to play SS every day for some amount of time and I don't see them abandoning that now.
This guy is such a fucking dope.
Just can't count on Wright to stay healthy
Hopefully its not THAT serious.
Well, you can't argue with stupid...and you are proving that in spades right now.
I don't know where you came from but I wish you would go back there.
It's funny that this is a "bad" start for Harvey.
Larger than life.
With only 8 games this season, you have to give him more of a chance to fail. Unless ur some baseball expert or scout.
Gee, I don't know.. maybe a fucking 23 year old kid playing baseball in front of tens of thousands of people on television at a position he hasn't had much experience playing since he was a kid?
These are people, not robots. Nerves are a part of sports. There are 10 million examples of baseball players who have had the yips and struggled with routine shit for a time. It happens.
Though, considering who I'm arguing with.. I wouldn't expect you to know that.

The experts and scout had him pegged as a 3rd baseman. The Mets themselves moved to 3rd in 2012. Even the novices should know that. Not to mention, he's been take off SS on multiple occassions since the age if 16 if you haven't been paying attention outisde of 8 RG games.

The only thing you got correct is "you don't know" followed by the daily meltown. He's been playing SS on and off since the age of 16. Not that you would know that either.
David Wright sounds prepared to go on DL. Will have MRI in morning. Says missing 2 weeks preferable to pushing through, causing major issue.
Eric Campbell summoned to NY

Enjoy your meltdown
I'm afraid I just cannot take you seriously. (Not that anyone on these threads does)
Nothing I posted was "wrong"
Until last season, he hadn't played SS since he was a 19 year old kid. Hence, he doesn't have all that much recent experience there... which was kind of my point. Unsurprisingly, you're just as bad at understanding English as you are speaking/typing it.
Now I remember why I intended on ignoring you.
"Not a SS", though.. right?
"People make errors. It's going to happen again before the year is over," Zimmerman said. "Everyone is going to make errors. It's part of the game. Nobody wants it to happen. Of course, you feel bad. You play baseball long enough, that kind of stuff happens. It's part of the game. If you let it consume you, that's what gets you."
LOL.
Just something I made up... - ( New Window )
That kind of sapped the fun out of the game.
I really want to sweep this fuckers tonight now. Fuck last night.
Dont forget Recker playing 3rd! lol
Crowd was great last night. I was at opening day and they were good too, but last night was something else. If this team can string some wins together early on this season, the place will be jumping this summer.
Anything else you want to be wrong about?
Seems like you're the one who thinks he knows more than the scouts. Not me.
And of course you're hung up on a random part of a post. It's about more than the crowd. This is the only position open enough for this kid to etch himself in as an every day player. We already have a 3rd baseman. We already have a 2nd baseman with a promising kid coming up right behind him.
If Flores can't hack it, he's basically SOL. It's a lot of pressure for a 23 year old kid. He has little assurance that he's sticking there for the long-haul.
There's a mental aspect to every sport. Even the simple minded should understand that.
Proofreading. It's your friend. Try it sometime.
And you're trying way too hard with the Crosby thing. It's neither funny or clever. Your humor is about as strong as your grammar. Douche chill inducing.
Stop feeding the troll and let him go back to his home under the bridge.
Let's Go Mets
Stop feeding the troll and let him go back to his home under the bridge.
LOL, yeah.. you're right. I'm probably the only person who has even acknowledged him recently so he's loving the attention.
Time to let him crawl back into his basement.
Got it - agree with #87 or be labeled a troll.
Have to appreciate the effort at least. No matter how unfunny it is, the guy is just going to go down swinging with it no matter what it takes. LOL...
I was out of the country this week, is a Mets player having throwing issues? Flores? Wright had a bad time throwing at one point. Only on hard hit balls that he had time to think
Him and Lagares need to start hitting, especially if wright is down for a while. I'm not worried about it, though. He just needs to get it going.
DW 128
Cuddy 126
Darnaud 114
Granderson and Duda tied for team lead with .406 OBP.
Murphy, Lagares, and Flores needs to pick it up.
Bottom line is that Flores needs to hit. If he doesn't hit, there's going to be pressure on him. The Mets are committed to giving him ABs for now, so let's hope it works out well.
Here's what I think it comes down to..
If Flores can be a guy who hits .270, pops 15 HR's with around 35 two baggers, does anyone think his defense would be too poor to keep him there? I don't.

Where are you getting this from? Murphy was just out three weeks for something that looked WAY more minor then what happened to Wright. I'm betting Wright is out at least a month. Probably longer.
New York Mets @Mets
He underwent an MRI at HSS and received a cortisone shot. He will rest for 2 days and will resume baseball actives as tolerated.
all things considered, sounds like best case scenario for both him and Cuddyer.
Is a shot significant? Cortisone is just for swelling normally.
It's usually football players that take cortisone shots to play thru pain.
Call up Reynolds?
I thought Meija being on restricted opened a spot on the 40?
It makes sense that they would take an extra long time in spring. The way wright was talking yesterday, it sounded like he could play through this if he wants. I think we'll see him back in 2-3 weeks, closer to 2 hopefully. I'm usually really pessimistic when it comes to injuries but don't have a bad feeling with this one.
He jumped down the steps into the dugout.
That probably has a lot to do with why he yanked himself last night. I guarantee you he was standing on the bases thinking to himself "in the past, I've forced myself through these.. I need to think better of it now like I said I would"
