Hence Crosby
Giants2012 : 4/15/2015 10:16 am : link
He played in 2011 and was pulled off in 2012. Keep digging that hole. Must have been a big crowd and not that he's not a natural SS like the scouts, etc have stated. You know more than scouts now right #87?

.
arcarsenal : 4/15/2015 10:25 am : link
And yet, here he is... in the MAJORS playing SS every day for the Mets.

Seems like you're the one who thinks he knows more than the scouts. Not me.

And of course you're hung up on a random part of a post. It's about more than the crowd. This is the only position open enough for this kid to etch himself in as an every day player. We already have a 3rd baseman. We already have a 2nd baseman with a promising kid coming up right behind him.

If Flores can't hack it, he's basically SOL. It's a lot of pressure for a 23 year old kid. He has little assurance that he's sticking there for the long-haul.

There's a mental aspect to every sport. Even the simple minded should understand that.
Crosby
Giants2012 : 4/15/2015 10:35 am : link
Not reading beyond a few lines as the i posted quotes from Scouts on multiple occassions. Stick with th theories about nerves etc. Enjoy your day here, i'm sure i can catch your daily #87 at any and all hours. NJ

Wow. You really, really cannot even put together a normal sentence. Not even an easy one.

Proofreading. It's your friend. Try it sometime.

And you're trying way too hard with the Crosby thing. It's neither funny or clever. Your humor is about as strong as your grammar. Douche chill inducing.
Arc, you are wasting your breath with this guy
PhiPsi125 : 4/15/2015 10:57 am : link
It's not worth it...it's like playing checkers with a mental patient.

Stop feeding the troll and let him go back to his home under the bridge.

LOL, yeah.. you're right. I'm probably the only person who has even acknowledged him recently so he's loving the attention.

Time to let him crawl back into his basement.
That Crosby joke
Shecky : 4/15/2015 11:11 am : link
Wasn't funny the first few times. But I have to admit each post that I read it I laugh harder and harder. Not at the joke of course, but...
Wright goes down so suggest moving Flores (natural 3rd basemen" scouts
Giants2012 : 4/15/2015 11:12 am : link
and that's enough to accelerate Crosby's tailspin.

Got it - agree with #87 or be labeled a troll.

Have to appreciate the effort at least. No matter how unfunny it is, the guy is just going to go down swinging with it no matter what it takes. LOL...
I'm too jet lagged
feelflows : 4/15/2015 11:24 am : link
To figure out what you yoddels are cranking about, but didn't Steve Sax and Macky Sasser forget how to throw?

I was out of the country this week, is a Mets player having throwing issues? Flores? Wright had a bad time throwing at one point. Only on hard hit balls that he had time to think
.
arcarsenal : 4/15/2015 11:33 am : link
feels.. the point I was trying to make, which (as usual) went over the village idiots head, was that despite some of the throwing issues Flores has had, he's shown in the past that he has a good arm and is pretty accurate.

I basically chalked up the bad throws to some nerves and the fact that the situation Flores is in is probably putting a lot of pressure on him to be perfect because he doesn't know how much rope he has.

But apparently that was the most absurd thing to ever say. How could anyone possibly be nervous in a situation like that?! The scouts say he can't play SS, so.. he can't play. We're just wasting our time.
oh shit
feelflows : 4/15/2015 11:37 am : link
The last concern on Flores is his throwing, unless he goes mental. I think the range thing is blown out of proportion as well.

Him and Lagares need to start hitting, especially if wright is down for a while. I'm not worried about it, though. He just needs to get it going.
Best hitters on the team in terms of OPS+
sshin05 : 4/15/2015 1:17 pm : link
Duda 146 <-- turning out to be the best hitter on the team
DW 128
Cuddy 126
Darnaud 114

Granderson and Duda tied for team lead with .406 OBP.

Murphy, Lagares, and Flores needs to pick it up.
The range will
Metnut : 4/15/2015 1:19 pm : link
be an issue with Flores but I think his track record in the minors shows that he has a pretty solid arm that can play at either SS or 3B.

Bottom line is that Flores needs to hit. If he doesn't hit, there's going to be pressure on him. The Mets are committed to giving him ABs for now, so let's hope it works out well.
Flores arm
Shecky : 4/15/2015 1:41 pm : link
It's strong enough to play SS, sure. But when was it decided he has a very accurate arm? Just my own personal opinion, but hasn't he always been a little short/low on his throws?
.
arcarsenal : 4/15/2015 1:48 pm : link
Well, I said pretty accurate.. I didn't say very accurate.

Here's what I think it comes down to..

If Flores can be a guy who hits .270, pops 15 HR's with around 35 two baggers, does anyone think his defense would be too poor to keep him there? I don't.

The guy is never going to be a wiz but I am fairly certain he can be adequate in the field if he's a guy who hits.
someone said it during a recent broadcast re: Flores defense
Eric on Li : 4/15/2015 2:03 pm : link
his biggest problem is his footwork. He has shown decent range and a strong arm, but where he has gotten into trouble is his footwork transitioning to the throw, which has led to inaccurate throws. That said I tend to agree with Arc, if he starts hitting and he can continue to show improvement he has enough ability to stick there.

like none of the injuries are serious, so nothing to panic about. The Nats are dealing with a lot of injuries to their line up (and Zimmerman and Strasburg looking like dogshit).

Hopefully Wright can avoid the DL and play vs Florida this weekend, but it looks like they are going to keep him out for 2 weeks as a precaution. It's nice to see Duda and D'Arnaud hitting.

I didn't think Niese looked too good in his first outing. Would love to see a strong outing from him against a bad Philly team. Win tonight, split the Gee/Colon games vs FLA, and win the DeGrom/Harvey games and we are off and running!

Where are you getting this from? Murphy was just out three weeks for something that looked WAY more minor then what happened to Wright. I'm betting Wright is out at least a month. Probably longer.
looks like just a mild strain for Wright....
Italianju : 4/15/2015 2:29 pm : link
Probably the best news we could have got. Still going on the DL but with a mild strain you would hope he could be ready to go in 2 weeks.
Wright to 15 day, got a cortisone shot, & will resume bball activities
Eric on Li : 4/15/2015 2:30 pm : link
in the next few days. Per @mets twitter.

New York Mets @Mets
He underwent an MRI at HSS and received a cortisone shot. He will rest for 2 days and will resume baseball actives as tolerated.

all things considered, sounds like best case scenario for both him and Cuddyer.
Getting a shot is significant.
Ten Ton Hammer : 4/15/2015 2:31 pm : link
Sounds like they're just hoping for the best.

Is a shot significant? Cortisone is just for swelling normally.
A hamstring strain that's so bad it needs a cortisone shot
Ten Ton Hammer : 4/15/2015 2:46 pm : link
is something I have not heard happens a lot.

It's usually football players that take cortisone shots to play thru pain.
with the mets luck
spike : 4/15/2015 2:48 pm : link
DW will probably need an amputation next week.

Call up Reynolds?
reynolds
sshin05 : 4/15/2015 2:55 pm : link
not on the 40 man roster
.
arcarsenal : 4/15/2015 3:05 pm : link
Campbell was called up.
Right, cortisone addresses pain and inflammation
schabadoo : 4/15/2015 3:31 pm : link
Two temporary issues. Runners get them.
They needed to bring
Rflairr : 4/15/2015 4:59 pm : link
up Campbell AND another INF. Enough with the short bench already.

I thought Meija being on restricted opened a spot on the 40?
Totally agree
ZGiants98 : 4/15/2015 5:10 pm : link
WTF? Cambell replaces Wright so we are still rolling with a 4 man bench? Even with Cuddyer banged up a little too? Yikes.
It just took Murphy
ZGiants98 : 4/15/2015 5:12 pm : link
3 weeks to come back from a pull that looked much lesser than Wrights. Murphy walked without a limp when it first happened. I suppose this is good news though. Maybe he'll be back early May sometime.

It makes sense that they would take an extra long time in spring. The way wright was talking yesterday, it sounded like he could play through this if he wants. I think we'll see him back in 2-3 weeks, closer to 2 hopefully. I'm usually really pessimistic when it comes to injuries but don't have a bad feeling with this one.
He was grabbing it and limping
ZGiants98 : 4/15/2015 5:21 pm : link
off the field yesterday. I would be shocked if he makes it back faster than Murphy.
Cortisone shot's are used way too often today
Giants2012 : 4/15/2015 5:24 pm : link
Wonder if they abuse Vitamin T like the NFL.
As of now
Shecky : 4/15/2015 5:39 pm : link
I wouldn't be overly concerned about Wrights Hammy.

He jumped down the steps into the dugout.
I think Wright is making a concerted effort not to try being Superman.
arcarsenal : 4/15/2015 6:28 pm : link
He said it himself before the season started that he has to understand where he's at as far as age goes and he has to learn to be more cautious and not push himself through injuries he knows he shouldn't.

That probably has a lot to do with why he yanked himself last night. I guarantee you he was standing on the bases thinking to himself "in the past, I've forced myself through these.. I need to think better of it now like I said I would"
