I went to Hamilton High West, a pretty small high school on the border of Trenton in NJ. My freshman year I was still a little fat kid so I played DT and lined up directly next to Jayson Dimanche (LB for the Bengals, signed as a UDFA I believe 2 years ago) who played DE at the time, I'll never forget the first training camp we had and when we got to hitting drills for the first time, as you would expect from a bunch of HS freshman the impact was pretty underwhelming until this very tall very lanky kid named Jayson stepped up and absolutely wrecked some kid, I mean you could here the pads crash if you were 3 blocks away from the practice field.. everything stopped lol as no one was expecting it from this guy. After high school I believe he went on to the same D2 college Brandon Jacobs went to, I hadn't even heard about that until a couple years ago when I heard he might make it to the NFL! I couldn't believe it, a few months later he's in training camp with the bengals in what happened to be the year they were being covered on the HBO show hard knocks, and shockingly enough he was heavily featured in it! Me and my friends couldn't believe how much face time he was getting on the show when we were watching, it was pretty awesome haha I think he's only the second athlete from my high school to play professionally, the only other was Kevin Johnson who some of you may remember, he was a journeyman WR for the browns/ravens not too long ago, I know he had at least 1 1,000 yard year in the pros.
Anyway was just wondering if anybody here has experienced anything similar, and has a cool story to tell?
Also played football against Seth Joyner from Spring Valley. He was not only an LB, but a running back who was huge and ran all over us pipsqueaks.
McEnroe sat out our biggest game my senior year because of a thing injury (he was a year behind me, though we're the same age). We all called him a woos, etc, though he had some sort of big tennis tournament the next day...
Guess he made the right choice.
Marino once said "...the best wr he ever played with was Bill Wallace" Loosely quoted.
he retired for personal reasons.
I played him in a touch game and he flipped my brothers friend in the air by 'two hand touching' him in the chest.
Super nice guy.

If you played on the DL you sir dodged a bullet train lol

I played against Dwayne Jarrets brother. He also was a 6'4" receiver who abused H.S. Players. I played mostly RB and OLB but that game my coach told me to mentally take him out of the game. I had 1 responsibility, cover him stride for stride..... He only caught 1 pass for 7 yds despite being thrown to 11 times. We won !
First time I ever tried chewing tobacco was with him and some other guys on that team one night in our hotel after a double header. I puked for an hour. Ug.
Played town softball with Rich Suebert in Jefferson while he re-habed his broken bones.
Oh yeah...the guy was a complete douchebag.
yeah, i'd say playing across from a Giants legend and sparring againt all of those boxing greats gives you the easy win on this thread!!
Does that count?
A little lesser known MLB'er, Greg Keagle pitched against us a few times in HS and we rocked him every time. How he made the major leagues, I'll never know.
Not a major leaguer, but our HS got into a bench-clearing brawl with the crosstown team over comments made by Kirt Manwaring's brother. Kirt played as a C for several years - his brother didn't and was apparently bitter:)
In my freshman year at college the starting QB was Jay 'Sky' Walker... who went on to have a shot in the NFL but didn't make it (I think he was with the Vikings for a year or two) and his primary receiver was Gary 'The Flea' Harrell, who also had a shot in the NFL but didn't make it.
That's all I got.
You know how my memory is Fats... but I think you're right. I think he was picked up by the team as a FA a few years ago but didn't last long.

played for the Giants, didn't he?

I didnt play with anyone, but I did practice law with Eric Lane (though we never worked together). My wife and I also attended a Giants game in the firm suite with Eric and his dad. Really nice guy from my 3 hour interaction with him.
it was in fact a 40 yard touchdown catch from Stan White not a long punt return for a TD in the preseason game. good to see he's got a head coaching gig in the college ranks with Howard.
Did play against JP Foschi former Jet tight end. I believe he was a Junior my Senior year. Didn't really stand out compared with the rest of his team, guess he blossomed later on.

I'm pretty sure he made the team in 95 but then was cut during the season. I could be wrong though.
after looking it up you are right, he did play in 4 games and saw action as a returner.

Still not a bad memory there Les. I barely remember him being on the team.
While on a temporary work assignment in Albany I played some pick up volleyball games with Phil Jackson when he was coach of the Albany Poltroons CBA team.
