At least they left the helmets the same. I think that would've drawn a lot of criticism but I'm still surprised someone didn't push it through. Uniforms change too much/often nowadays and it's driven by nothing but jersey sales.
Their uniforms were mostly unchanged for more than 50 years. The biggest change they made was when they added orange pants. The rest were small tweaks here and there. There are some traditions that should be upheld.
Second, I think this is just way too much to change in one shot.
Third, the changes are just awful. The "CLEVELAND" on the front of the jersey make it look like a HS or college jersey. The shadowed numbers don't look good and the "BROWNS" on the leg, replacing the stripe is awful.
Lastly, if they are changing just to drum up sales, I think something like this misses the target. These are so ugly, I think the only people buying are the ones who would have bought anyway.
Because most people don't like change. And when a team changes their uniforms, even if it's not "your" team, they're taking away a small piece of your past.
