NFT: islanders and rangers playoff tix question

theold5j : 4/14/2015 10:58 pm
What's going on with these teams. I've heard fans of both teams complaining. Rangers fans needed to buy liberty tickets as well??

Islanders never put tickets on sale to the general public instead they offered the season ticket holders the opportunity to buy extra tickets. islanders prices went thru the roof.

Are either of these correct?
not sure

in the Rangers case there are very few seats not bought by season ticket holders in the first place... and the NHL and MSG usually hold those for corporate clients and sponsors.

Hard to feel that bad for fans that dont want to commit to a regular season, and just want to swoop in and buy relatively cheap tickets come playoff time.

If you want to complain about something -- get on stubhub and ticketexchange's case -- both sides charge 30% of the transaction (split between buyer and seller), so on a transaction where the buyer has to pay $350 per seat, i only get $245 of that, compares to $180 face value of my seat.

I make just $65, the websites make over $100... the buyer basically has to pay through the roof just to make me whole.
Seems like some low info fool

complained on 1010 WINS. MSG denies it:

Quote:
“You had to purchase Liberty tickets as well, we don’t know how many or what the deal is,” longtime Rangers fan Bruce Regenstreich told 1010 WINS.

Regenstreich said he’s annoyed and doesn’t want to shell out money for tickets he doesn’t want.

...
However, an MSG Spokesperson issued the following statement Tuesday in response to claims made by some fans.

“Rangers fans can purchase playoff tickets without any additional events. We are currently offering a promotion on Liberty tickets, but it is not a requirement.”

It would be a pretty stupid move by MSG to make Liberty tickets a tax on Rangers tickets. First, everyone expects insane MSG pricing, and insane playoff ticket pricing, so you dont need to disguise the price gouging of insane MSG + playoffs pricing. Just charge 4x the price and be done with it. Second, forcing tickets to the Liberty on people with zero interest in them would backfire. You'd get bad press up front, and then a summer of people complaining on twitter/facebook that they have these shitty tickets they dont want. It would harm the product.

I agree with you on this. I went to 350 for tix for sunday islanders game. That's prob not much more than face.

I wasn't complaining about that. I was asking if anyone knew what happened cause I was reading g complaints from fans of both teams.
