I can't see how he would be found not guilty. The defense really chose a stupid defense trying to pin it on Hernandez' two friends claiming they were on LSD when there is no evidence or admittance that they were on it.

The gun on the tape was identified as the same gun that was used to kill Lloyd. His DNA was also on the shell casings that he foolishly left in the rental car that also matched the bullets found in Lloyd. This is a man that really thought he was untouchable because how else do you not erase your surveillance footage and not dispose of shell casings?

sphinx : 4/15/2015 11:20 am : link
FALL RIVER, Mass. Defense attorney Michael Fee had just spent the better part of a half-hour slapping the prosecution around via a forceful, impressive and at times even mocking opening statement in the murder trial of his client, former New England Patriot Aaron Hernandez. [...]

Fee even attacked the most damning hurdle his client must clear: Hernandez's almost certain presence at the murder scene ... [...]

"Mere presence is not enough," Fee argued, essentially implying that Wallace did the killing. "In our system we cannot be convicted of a crime just because we hang with the wrong people or are in the wrong place at the wrong time."

Except moments later Judge E. Susan Garsh addressed the jury and pointed out that Fee wasn't accurate and, well, you sort of can be convicted for that under Massachusetts' "joint venture" law.
"The Commonwealth does not require proof that the defendant himself performed an act that caused Odin Lloyd's death to establish that the defendant is guilty of murder," Garsh said. "The Commonwealth requires two things, first the defendant knowingly participated in the commission of this crime and second, he did so with the intent required to commit the crime."

And that there may be the entire case against Aaron Hernandez.

Exactly. For this reason alone, it's probably worth it to go forward with the other trial. You can't just ignore the other victims. I don't believe that's good for society. There's also the issue of adding another precedent with respect to procedure, sentencing, etc. and to just keep the system engaged.

During the trial, Kraft said Hernandez proclaimed his innocence when they spoke in the weight room at Gillette Stadium, the teams home base, two days after the murder. Hernandez also said he hoped the time of the killing would become public, since he was at a nightclub then, Kraft testified.

Prosecutors seized on the latter comment during closing arguments, asking how Hernandez would know when Lloyd was killed when the information had not been publicly released.

She was granted immunity to testify. Anything she said about "the box" or "the dumpster" would make her immune to prosecution for getting rid of evidence, I think. If it could be proved she lied on the stand she could be charged with perjury. If the prosecution had any such evidence I assume they would have already introduced it.

I'm pretty sure there is a right to a speedy trial, which would negate the possibility of filing this case away for years unless they need it. I think presenting a case to the Grand Jury years after you collected your last piece of evidence would make it clear the DA was not proceeding timely or in good faith.

The families of the victims in the other shooting deserve to have the guilty held accountable, even if he is already serving life without parole. The other trial can and should go forward.

She may have to work to support her son.

Next up is another murder trial in which he is accused of killing two men and wounding another person near a Boston nightclub in July 2012.

Prosecutors have said Hernandez fatally shot Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado when he fired into their 2003 BMW. Another passenger was wounded and two others were uninjured.

Hernandez pleaded not guilty at his arraignment.

The families of de Abreu and Furtado filed civil suits against Hernandez, and a judge froze his $5 million in assets, pending the outcome of the double-murder trial. The freeze includes the disputed $3.3 million signing bonus payment Hernandez claims he is owed by the New England Patriots.

Hernandez is also being sued by a man who claims Hernandez shot him while they were in a limousine in Miami in February 2013.

if he killed those 2 people in July of 2012 that means he was 6 months removed from having played in the Super Bowl and he's doing crap like that?

but it's not as simple as doing gang stuff. The guy has been linked to Latin gangs his whole life and when you are in that deep, exiting gracefully isn't really on the menu. He either A) enjoyed the power or B) was in too deep to walk away from.
Some people just aren't good at murder.

who happened to be a good football player also. IMO, the NFL just delayed his trip to prison a bit. This guy was destined to be behind bars.
