on the Pens' throats. This isn't going to be as easy as some might think. They get to play with six defenseman now. Pens management blew it with the salary cap...how do you not have enough money to call someone up to replace your two injured D? But no salary cap in the playoffs.
They do, but they won't be 6 good defenseman.
arcarsenal : 4/16/2015 8:48 am : link
The only edge the Pens have on the Rangers is top tier talent. The Rangers have a massive advantage defensively, depth-wise and a pretty fair one between the pipes.

There are no "easy" draws in the Stanley Cup Playoffs but the Rangers are just a better team than the Penguins and need to play like it. There are really no excuses.
Lets fucking do this, boys
redbeard : 4/16/2015 8:49 am : link
Sick of talking...I've been itching for playoff puck since fucking February
Exactly - they have 6 mediocre to bad defensemen
Greg from LI : 4/16/2015 8:51 am : link
Like I said yesterday, Kris Letang isn't walking through that door for the Lepews.
Today is the day we begin or journey
Route 9 in LEH : 4/16/2015 8:51 am : link
and I've been ready for playoff hockey since last June! Let's go RANGERS!

Preach it brother. We just need to beat the hell out of Cindy and play solid Rags hockey. I definitely like our chances.
if the Rangers can stay out of the box
Mike in NY : 4/16/2015 8:54 am : link
This series will not be close. Pittsburgh lacks the depth on D to be at 5 on 5 or shorthanded over 50-55 minutes per game
Stomp em.

Road teams were 3-1 yesterday
YAJ2112 : 4/16/2015 9:08 am : link
and Ottawa played Montreal tough in the only loss. Rangers better come ready to play 3 strong periods tonight and not give the Pens any reason to believe.
Drop the fuckin puck!!!
mfsd : 4/16/2015 9:13 am : link
Rangers need to bring their A game and snuff the life out of that bitch Crosby and the rest of Bettman's favorite team.

This Rangers team is mostly healthy, rested and ready. No excuses, let's play some fucking playoff hockey.
Looking forward to hearing Pierre McGuire

play "golf ball thru a garden hose" tonight on Sindys penis. That's always a treat. Then again I believe the game is on MSG, right?

As long as the Sabres aren't on, yes.
They're a dangerous 8 seed
Kyle in NY : 4/16/2015 9:19 am : link
Obviously with those two top players they have, they can do damage. But they haven't been a good team pretty much since the new year. We're deeper up front, we have he better goalie, and the far better defense. Their D struggled with our speed even when they were fully healthy back there.

Play our game and we'll be fine. LGR

Expect Pens to try

to instigate at least at the outset. Rangers need to keep their cool and stick to their game.

Wouldnt surprise me if this is a 4-0, 4-1 Rangers win tonight.

How DARE YOU. Brett made a significant contribution by starting threads that got us fans to see the most successful regular season in Ranger history, especially when NYR beat teams on five and nine game winning streaks. A little odd from someone I've never seen hide nor hair of on a game thread this season!
I'm with gidie
MetsAreBack : 4/16/2015 10:25 am : link
regular season doesnt mean shit, unless your Boston. In their case, it did. Whole new season now. 3 higher seeds lost last night -- nobody cares how successful the NYR season was, we still need to win just as many games as the LePews to get to the next round now.

Shift by Shift, boys.

That's fine. Of course MAB is going to agree.

Anyway, Lundqvist 46 games played this year only and has the best team in front of him in his entire career. There is no reason for Pittsburgh to even THINK about winning 2 games.

I have been growing the beard since last week when for all intents the Rangers regular season was over. Should I shave today before the first playoff game or leave it and go into the postseason, hot.

What's the right thing to do? Start fresh tonight or go in on a follicle streak? I'm willing to do whatever it takes.

Do not have the type of team to be effective by instigating. If they do that they are already cooked, so I do not agree at all they will come out and do that. They have to hope that their defense can hold serve and that the two big boys have a huge series, they also have to hope that "The Flower" has a big series, that is their formula, they can not change that. We have to play like we did the last 57 games, its that simple for us. We were 42 - 12 - 3 the last 57 games. We play like we did during this period, and we win the cup. It's that simple on paper, there is no other team that has played at that level for that length of time in the NHL.
Let's do this, biznatches

“You gotta antagonize,” says assistant coach Rick Tocchet, who did a bit of that during his playing days. “If Rick Nash is on the ice, you make sure you hit him, take a piece of him. They're going to do the same thing to Crosby. Crosby gets it all year. We have to have the mentality to go after their best players. Disciplined, obviously. I'm not saying head-hunting. None of that. But you have to go after their players.”

You gotta start fresh before game time. One last shave or close buzz before the puck drops and then you don't touch that thing again until the Rangers season is over. Which.. we all hope is sometime in mid June.
done deal

I'm thinking we could have an A-Rod 2009 type playoff redemption coming for Nash.
I sure as hell hope 61 shows up this year
figgy2989 : 4/16/2015 12:40 pm : link
He has a better supporting cast around him this year and he does not have to be the "man". He just needs to focus on his game and play solid two-way hockey. What has been really surprising with Nash is his PK ability.

in a very short amount of time. It's not a gift, it's a curse.

OK, which one of you can only grow the Crosby "mustache"?

Re Rick Nash: I hope so. He had 2? 3 goals last playoff run? They were all in the Montreal series, if I remember correctly.
