They didn't even have enough confidence in Peters to give him more than 12 regular season starts. There's no way they'll put him in a playoff game unless they have absolutely no choice, because he was terrible.

I saw that too, but I *think* afterwords he said he expects Holtby to be in.

The fact that he's ill enough for there to even be a chance is encouraging. You don't want to root for injuries ever, but if a stomach bug helps us get 1 game closer to the next round, I'll sleep just fine being happy about it.

Grubauer is the "contingency plan" if need be.

Hopefully, Holtby pukes in his mask right as Boychuk unleashes a 100mph bomb ticketed upper left 90.

It's like Montreal last year with Budaj and Tokarski - if you clearly think the guy in the AHL is the better goalie, why isn't he on the team in the first place? Are the AHL playoffs really that important? If they so prefer Grubauer to Peters, why have Peters on the roster in the first place?

Suppose the Boychuk shot the other night injured Holtby? They'd be stuck with Peters then...

They were already losing when Price got hurt in game 1, but Budaj came in, played like crap and turned a 4-1 game into a 7-1 laugher.

Nothing would be sweeter than coming back to the barn up 2-0.

Funny because listening to the Caps broadcast they specifically said there were very few Isles fans.

To take ahold of the series but just didnt have it. Caps played a much better game. We did what we needed, get 1. Now just hold the ice at home. Not even that mad at this one

But up 3-1 that game should have been ours. We got dominated for a better part of the 2nd and 3rd. Sucks. Golden opportunity missed.

Exactly right. This game was with house money. Shoulda, coulda, but getting out 1-1 when playing on enemy playoff ice is respectable (especially when you consider the media hasn't given the Islanders much of a chance to win).

From what I just flipped through on the DVR, we effectively allowed 3 SHG...2 came with our guys hemmed in when someone lost/broke their sticks, and the actual PPG by Backstrom. The last 2 goals irked me the most given Backstrom came in basically 1 on 4 and each Islander thought someone else would take him. Very poor communication. And the last fling by Leddy that was a bad turnover was just a WTF moment. Shoulda won this one, but looking at the 6 periods in DC, the Isles have been very good more than not. Carry that over to NVMC, eliminate the very fixable mistakes they know they made tonight, and come back to DC up 3-1. Nothing I plan on losing sleep over.

Is there's no way in the world I could have seen us winning 3 in a row against Them. So get this one out of the way and get to business on Sunday.

I had a great time tonight at the bar however what a disappointing performance tonight. That aside, the Isles lackluster play aside, you take away a few broken sticks and a bad slashing call(which they scored on) and the Islanders would've won going away. You can't change it but going forward I don't see how Washington wins game 3. Let's hope I'm right.

But some solace here: we can all agree the Isles didn't play a good game at all last night. However, despite that, they led for a good portion of the game, and in the end, lost by only a goal on a night when they "didn't have it" and frankly should have had their asses handed to them badly. Series is 1-1. By comparison, the Hawks and Preds are also 1-1. However, the Hawks (cup favorites, according to some), who led their series 1-0, got shelled last night, 6-2. I feel better about our 1 goal loss in a game that we could have just as easily won if not for a few bad breaks despite playing like shit instead of a 6-2 ass whipping. I'm not claiming a moral victory, but think that they will respond much better tomorrow when they put things in their own perspective.

As I said, the Isles can - and I expect they will - fix the mistakes they made last night in the game tomorrow. NVMC is gonna be loud...let's take game 3.

Last night was a good time even with the outcome.

We've seen two different Islander teams so far this playoffs. The pre-All Star Game Isles were on display the first 85 minutes of the series and the post-All Star Game Isles were on display the last 35.
Even keeping that ratio up this is a series that can be won. If the Isles play their game Washington doesn't stand a chance.
Have to give credit where credit is due though. Wash took advantage of opportunities (broken sticks, bad communication) and didn't panic when they went down early.

For a tough morning. The loss hurts but we can clean up the nonsense and win.

The bar and the crowd was great.

As Butchie said 2 nights earlier they had the puck luck last night. A couple of broken sticks, lack of clearing of pucks, a horrible outlet by Leddy and a ridiculous call on Strome. Add it all up you get a Caps win. We have to play and check harder and want it more! Game 3 is huge in this series.

Oshawa beat Niagara 4-2 to finish off the series in five games. Michael Dal Colle had two assists to give him 21 points (6g, 15a) in 10 playoff games. Joshua Ho-Sang finishes his post-season as the Ice Dogs leader with 16 points (1g, 15a) in 11 games.

There are some nice toys in the toybox.
