NFT: Need help - home kegerator

TampaGiant : 4/17/2015 3:09 pm
So my 6 year old kegerator has stopped pouring. It's still keeping the keg to temp but when I pour nothing happens. I have checked the gas, I have bought a new keg...still nothing.

So I started trying to find places that repair them and I have been coming up empty. Anyone know who the heck fixes these things ? Or had the repair done to yours ?
If the CO2 is full and flowing it may be the regulator.

I am a moron when it comes to this shit so I went to the local beverage place and they gave me the number of their keg guy.
Might be a regulator

Not a big cost item.... maybe $50

Are you certain your lines aren't clogged or kinked?

If you hooked up a new full keg of beer, it should have given you
a couple of pours from the CO2 already in the keg. if not, check the line
from the keg to the tap. Do you ever clean it? It can build up deposits
called "beer stone" that slow the flow and affect the taste of your beer.

double check the lines first

I had a similar issue and turned out the line going to the spout froze. Not entirely but in a small area where it was touching the back cooling coils. I turned the unit off thawed it and cleaned the lines and all was well in the world again. And didn't cost me anything.

Frozen lines are probably more likely than
beer stone
You need to find where the blockage is

Disconnect the hose from the CO2.
Open the valve. If gas comes out, your tank is good.
Connect the hose but don't connect the tap to the regulator. Open the valve. Does CO2 come out of the regulator? Yes? it's not the regulator.
Connect the tap to the hose but not the keg.
Open the valve...
Connect the faucet line to the regulator.
Open the valve. If CO2 comes out, you have a bad tap.

You get the point? You have to isolate each section to determine where the problem lies.
Thanks for the help

I have isolated the problem as much as I problaby can. It seems to be in the neck or spout...so bad tap ?
Clean the faucet
Peter in Atl : 4/17/2015 8:23 pm : link
try pipe cleaners.
Ideally it would be best to remove the faucet

disassemble and soak in an OxyClean solution

Just make sure you disconnect the beer line so you don't
spray beer everywhere.

You might consider a Perlick faucet... less likely to
get gunked up.

And its good practice to clean your beer line and faucet
each time you change out your keg.
