I will try my best to explain my moves......and feel this draft will line up well for the Giants.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
1st round.
L. Williams, D.Fowler, Vic Beasley & A.Cooper are my top tier and all are gone as well as the 2 QBs...Scherff goes at 8...Williams would be my only consideration to move up but as we know, the Giants have too many holes.
The Wrs and top corner are strong consideration until phone rang offering a extra 3rd for a small drop.
I pick my highest graded OT Andrus Peat.......with Eric Flowers an option.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
2nd round.
I am tempted to move up to draft Odi the ucla DE using my extra 3 but chose to hold firm because
Preston Smith is still available and my clear choice in the 2nd
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
3rd round.
My next selection is more need but value is high due to short supply of FS
Damarios Randall........my highest rated FS
My next selection is Justin Hardy, a little insurance and perfect slot reciever.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
4th round.
This is my toughest pick because I can go in several directions
I take Adrian Amos....my 2nd rated FS and turn a weakness into a strength.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
5th round
My next selection is Marcus Hardison. Spags will know how to use him immediately.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
6th round.
Jeremiah Poutasi is my next pick only because he visited the Giants and could use a guard.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
7th round and UDFA
Who am kidding at this point in the draft........but I do hold out hope the Giants will find serviceable players.
I am pleased how this draft unfolded.
A.Peat....I feel adding a NFL tackle was a must
P.Smith......Giving Spags the DL rotation is key
D.Randall.....Finding a FS for roster is important.
J.Hardy......Hands, Quick and spunk.....legion boom goes bust
A.Amos.....Probably wouldn't happen.....still only 2nd FS only roster.
M.Hardison......I see Spags having a purpose for him.
J.Poutasi.......George Young theory.
My first and only mock.......the deeper I go.....the more need and position drives my decision which I know is wrong but could not help myself.
Have at it boys.
My thoughts for draft weekend.
Rd 1 - Best player available. Any one of the top three WRs is a great choice, but I can easily see the argument for Peat, Flowers or Collins, even if it is a bit of a reach. If the pick is Shane Ray, or another smallish edge rusher, then I think it means Spags is going to tweak the defense by employing a LEO type RDE. Think Terrell Suggs
Rd 2 - My main target would be DE Preston Smith. I think he'll be there and I think he would instantly upgrade the DL rotation. Other options include FS Demarious Randle, FS Eric Rowe, an OG like AJ Cann, or a WR like Nelson Agholor.
Rd 3 - I would target CB Josh Shaw and turn him into a safety or OG Laken Tomlinson and OT/OG Ali Marpet.
Rd 4 - OLB Kwon Alexander, DE Zadarius Smith, CB Doran Grant
Rd 5 - WR Kenny Bell, DT Marcus Hardison, TE Ben Koyack
Rd 6 - SS Sam Carter, TE Tyler Kroft
Rd 7 (two picks) - Your guess is as good as mine
DT. DANNY SHELTON, WASHINGTON. Giants worse run defensive in the league, that won't be the case next season if the Giants draft Shelton and have the following draft.
OT. D.J. HUMPHRIES, FLORIDA. A bona fide right tackle. Looking for the best tackle on the board.
FS. DAMARIOUS RANDALL, ARIZONA STATE. Looks to be able to be a day one starter I just hope he is still there because the need is there!
SS. JAQUISKI TARTT, SAMFORD. Was surprised to still see him on the board and also an urgent need for the Giants. Two rookies safeties, how could the Giants allow this to happen. Here's to hoping.
WR. CHRIS CONLEY, GEORGIA. To be honest, only making this pick because so many people think that the Giants need to make a pick like this, I don't but I'm will be glad that at least the Giants don't draft a WR to early in the draft.
OLB. JORDAN HICKS, TEXAS. A steal if there and the best part is that he can play inside.
TE. RORY ANDERSON, SOUTH CAROLINA. A need pick and a good one if he is there?
DE. BOBBY RICHARDSON, INDIANA.
