Gurley

nicks14 : 4/18/2015 1:13 pm
As a giants fan who also loves the University of Georgia's football team i will be the first to say they should grab Todd Gurley in the first round. I don't care about the fact that it's considered a reach he is the best player available at that point you have to draft him then go O-line in the next round.
Maybe if there was no knee damage

but we have 3 guys back there and are a passing offense regardless of what people think or want. I'd rather Cooper than Gurley in this offense.
no way!!!

You don't bet with your heart kid and you don't draft with your heart either. Way too early for the gurley!

I agree but Jennings is always hurt and vereen is not a every down back and williams is absolutely awful. So i think Gurley would be a fit but i do understand why you feel that way.
isn't Gurley being examined this weekend at the combine

For The Extent Of Damage On His ACL Tear?

Apparently his knee was looked out yesterday/today and everything checked out. If these reports are indeed true I would not mind taking him in a trade down scenerio (say with Miami at 14). Gurley, if he stays healthy, will be a complete monster. If he did not get hurt he would have been a top 5 pick easily IMO. He is just too damn talented
Pro football is entirely different than college

a talented RB can dominate the college game, but in the NFL you need passing weapons and speed nowadays, RB has been de-emphasized even if you have an Adrian Peterson.

TC utilizes multiple RBs, their careers are very short, on average. NYG needs this pick to be a very productive, long term contributor.
When was the last time an effective running back

was taken in the top 10?

Richardson sucked...
Dunedin81 : 4/18/2015 5:10 pm : link
Spiller has been disappointing. DMC has been disappointing but has still had an okay career on the whole. Peterson has been a stud. Bush has the same rap as DMC, okay career but underwhelmed relative to expectations. The 2005 draft had Ronnie Brown, Benson and Cadillac.

So I guess if there is one less to be drawn it is that they tend not to bust (aside from Richardson) but that for a variety of reasons (injuries or otherwise) they can underwhelm.

Rhetorical question I hope?

because if you don't know the answer to that question, you're not much of an NFL fan...
I would do it
Marty866b : 4/18/2015 7:21 pm : link
This is a classic boom or bust pick and I realize the Giants will not do this at #9. This is not a blue chip draft, even at the top, but Gurley might be the best player in it. He is the closest thing to Adrein Peterson the league has seen in many years. The thought of a great running back to go along with Eli and Beckham would be much more valuable then another wideout which is the sentiment here at BBI.
I look for us to pick an offensive lineman. I don't believe the edge rushers are the type of players that the Giants believe fits their system.

It was a serious question that went right over your head.
I don't think it's an unreasonable question...
Dunedin81 : 4/18/2015 7:34 pm : link
Most of us can remember Peterson and a few more, but I doubt most of us can name all the Top 10 running backs. And looking at the list it's a mixed bag. If they're healthy they tend to contribute, and the shelf life of RBs is short but beyond a rookie contract.
How mornic would this move be?
Salty Meats : 4/18/2015 9:42 pm : link
please stick to the WNBA because you obviously don't understand the basics of pro football. I would rather the Giants pick the number one rated long snapper. Or maybe women's Volley Ball is your thing?

My lord you're a tool, and over sensitive to boot. But you're right, a semi- rhetorical question about the value of high draft slot RBs sailed way over my head. I mean, you're the first genius to bring that subject up on this forum.

Not counting about 1000 posts about David Wilson the past 2-3 years. Keep up the probing queries... I want to learn more about football from you, Pete.

Pass. We have bigger needs than running back.
If Gurley hadnt gotten injured
blueblood : 4/19/2015 9:02 am : link
I would have no issue with him being a Giant..

David Wilson was a top 10 pick? You really know your football.
A top running back
Marty866b : 4/19/2015 11:27 am : link
Would cure some of our other needs. If teams respected our running game it would make our line look better and open things up for our passing game. The Giants running backs scare NO ONE.
