@AdamSchefter: NYG safety Stevie Brown mulling 5-6 offers, expected to make decision soon, per source. Interested teams include NYG, DAL, ATL, OAK, TN.
Can you be so sure. He was hurt all of last year. I, for one, would feel a lot better just to have another safety who has actually played the position on the roster. Though I suspect JR either has faith in what we have or has a trick up his pants leg.
that Stevie Brown is still better than the bozos that they will sign off the street to try to replace him.
This is starting to look like 2009 all over again.
They had poor coaching than anything else in 2009.
Unless Spags turns into Sheridan, I wouldn't worry about that too much.
Brown stunk last year and was benched for, yet, another Safety who stunk. The injury slowed him down an awful lot and was not tackling well. He got a little better against the run, but in coverage he's pretty much finished.
going into the season, and the guys they had were nothing special. Merritt warned about it but was ignored. It wasn't coaching, it was the General Manager failing to provide enough players, period.
And as soon as one S went down, they were signing garbage FAs off the street.
Brown just isn't a starting safety and if he re-signs I have a feeling Coughlin will stick with him even when he struggles mightily because he is the only veteran safety on the roster. Even during his 8 interception season he struggled and was responsible for several big plays. He also seems to be involved in a lot of broken plays where a receiver is left wide open because Brown was supposed to provide coverage over the top but he ended up covering a different wide out. Those are rookie mistakes that shouldn't happen to a veteran safety. Spags has gotten the best out of his safeties in the past and I look forward to what he does with Taylor, Berhe, and draft pick(s). Taylor has always had the talent to be a good player but the problem is he just can't stay healthy. As Eric said Taylor was one of the bright spots last preseason.

perhaps, but last preseason, Cooper Taylor looked pretty darn good. He just has to stay healthy.
Nat Berhe has talent too.
Neither has experience....Berhe couldn't crack the lineup last year, with what we were trotting out there?
Get a hat, fill it with strips of injuries....Have Taylor pick one...
He also has played in 6 games in two years for the GIANTS, mostly on Special Teams, after a college career with a heart problem (which has been resolved and should not be an issue going forward) plus multiple injuries. He's a walking MASH unit.
It would be great if he could stay healthy because he can definitely play, but odds are that he will be back on IR sometime this fall. Regardless of what Reese says about Cruz, Taylor is a much bigger roster risk than Cruz at a position where they have much less depth than where Cruz plays.
Position is empty for us presently just hope they don't waste prime picks on a poor draft safety class. Taylor is a hope for one position but his track record is at best suspect for numerous reasons. Those that claim Berhe has talent can't say anyone has seen why he was drafted at this point. I think most of us had to go look very deep into last year draft profiles to find out anything about him except he is small slow and a big hitter and that's all we know.
Our one hope is just like the TE position last year someone most likely Taylor can surprise us all. We just have to consider the other position a wide open challenge to any and everybody because there is no nobody at present in truth. The next fear is with our injury history in the secondary even if someone appears how long before we are sending out annSOS league wide for the Stevie Browns of the NFL.

The thought has creeped into my brain but on the bright side, for as young and in Taylor's case injury prone as they are I don't think either is CC Brown bad. Best case scenario IMO is an adequate veteran shakes loose sometime between the draft and the end of August. Berhe, Cooper, unnamed vet, and a middle round draft pick (3rd or 4th if the value matches) doesn't inspire confidence but I don't think it's 2009 bad.

Replace Taylor with Schwartz and this post is still true. Smh....so many holes.
That was a month ago. Paysinger signed before him.

You mean half of BBI.

Here you just hope Stevie stays away, and Cooper Taylor can stay healthy.
Nat Berhe has talent too.
