Jacob Degrom vs Mat Latos, 7pm WPIX

"The third of the four-game series between the Mets and Marlins at Citi Field will feature two pitchers off to starkly different starts. The Mets start Jacob deGrom, who is coming off his first win and owns a 1.46 ERA. Marlins starter Mat Latos has lasted a combined 4 2/3 innings in his first two starts with his new team.

Things to know about this game

• Mets manager Terry Collins said he will look to give left fielder Michael Cuddyer a rest at some point this weekend and get Kirk Nieuwenhuis a start. Cuddyer, 36, started the first 11 games. He's had better success against Tim Koehler (.333 average), who will start Sunday for the Marlins, than Latos (.222 average). But he does own one home run against Latos in nine career at bats."

Resting Cuddyer not a bad idea

I'd give him the day off today since TdA will presumably rest tomorrow for the day game after night game.

Also, off day Monday -- I'm pretty sure TdA wil catch deGrom and Harvey.

Agree...the dude really needs to start hitting. The 11 BB's is great and all, but he's one of our power hitters. He's being paid to drive in runs.

I'm getting a little tired of the excuse "well, he's hitting the ball hard" or "he's just been unlucky." It's been 10 games...you are not "unlucky" for 10 games.

Come on Curtis...get back to that Spring Training form!
Granderson had such a good spring
steve in ky : 4/18/2015 7:03 pm : link
It's to bad it didn't carry over. I wouldn't be surprised to see him break out soon and go on a tear for a few games.
I don't like the idea of making your pitcher stand around for
steve in ky : 4/18/2015 7:17 pm : link
so long for a challenge unless it is clearly a missed call, or a run is involved.
well, I thought it was obvious that it was a missed ball
PhiPsi125 : 4/18/2015 7:24 pm : link
but, in general, I agree.

Still don't understand why it takes so long.
Duda has to be near the leaders in doubles so far this season

He is a doubles machine of late.

Im sure we will but thats exactly the type of "curtis" that we were hoping to avoid.
TDA's throwing
Deej : 4/18/2015 7:36 pm : link
is really so improved. If he can become a plus defender, boy, he could really be a 4-6 WAR player. A real star.

They commented that he had a bone chip removed from his elbow during the off season.
I'm hoping the passed balls were just nerves/over aggressive framing
Eric on Li : 4/18/2015 7:46 pm : link
pitches. He certainly looks much better this year on all fronts. TdA definitely has the most star potential out of all of the young position players that have arrived or are close. Would not shock me at all if he plays in multiple all star games over his career. Don't think I'd say that for any other non-pitchers. I guess if you count Duda in that conversation he also qualifies.

I don't think he'll ever hit enough to be an all star, but he certainly doesn't need to hit much to be just as valuable in terms of WAR, so maybe.

wasn't would he make it through 3 weeks of a season, but more would he make it through an entire season.

Let's not proclaim "mission accomplished" after 11 games.

pjcas18 : 4/18/2015 9:19 pm : link
me about deGrom, is not just how dominant he is with his stuff, but how good a pitcher he is, having only been a starting pitcher for like 2 full seasons before last year and has had TJ surgery.
Degrom is ridiculous
