Good morning Mets fans.
Iced coffee this morning with a shot of espresso and it tastes delicious.
Seven wins in a row after some DeGrominant work the by the starter and stomach-churning outings by the back of the bullpen. Is the Gilmartin experiment coming to an end?
A base knock and a round-tripper from Flores yesterday. Looks like our shortstop is getting into a groove.
Duda and Cuddyer remain red hot, but some regression to the mean is to be expected. Doubtful that they sustain a .444 and .519 BABIP respectively throughout the season.
Granderson and Murphy are similarly ice cold with respective BABIPs of .161 and .128(!). Have to figure that balls will have to start dropping in for them sooner or later.
TDA, like the little bear's porridge, is just right. Slashing .289/.317/.526 with BABIP of .273 and a K rate of just under 10%, this could conceivably be the real, 2015 d'Arnaud, which is pretty damn exciting.
Down in the minors, Conforto hit another homer. Ho-hum.
Today, Matt Harvey brings the heat we look to break out the brooms as the good guys face the Marlins at 1:10 EDT.
Let's go Mets.
I agree, this will test the depth of the organization and guys will have to step up.
Text from scout: "Conforto just hit another bomb! Get him out of this league. The kid has been incredible."

was that his 5th? He needs to move up now.
Alex Torres will become the primary left-handed reliever in Blevins' absence. The Mets also have southpaw Sean Gilmartin in their bullpen, but neither Torres nor Gilmartin is considered a lefty specialist. ...
Right-handed reliever Vic Black, whose rehab assignment had been transferred to Double-A Binghamton over the weekend, is being sent to the Hospital for Special Surgery for MRIs of his shoulder and neck.

Plawecki and Robles time.
Man we are getting crushed with injuries early.
Reynolds too. The two of them are scalding hot the last few days.
So do I. Fuck.
I think you name the starter such as TDA and maybe try to get Plawecki two days backing him up at catcher, maybe a game at first, key pinch hitter of the bench, ect. I don't know. I think it might work. I guess we'll cross that bridge when we get there.
The Mets drafted Kevin Plawecki out of Purdue with the extra pick they got for losing Jose Reyes to the Marlins as a free agent.
So lets see Wheeler, Edgin, Black, Mejia, Wright, TDA, and Blevens and we haven't even played three fucking weeks. Awesome.
He texted a trainer at 7:30 a.m. Sunday when the illness intensified, but ultimately decided to proceed with his scheduled matinee start against the Miami Marlins.

My early takeaway thus far into the season. Forgetting the record and the rotation, this squad has some balls.

In a backwards way that's good news. There's a reason he wasn't in top form.
I absolutely hate losing TDA as good as he has been playing but I can't deny Im pretty excited for Plawecki. He seems to have been heating up in AAA the last couple of days as well. Thank god this team has depth in spades. These injuries are getting out of hand though.
This will be a test.
How does the 40-man work with injures. TDA to DL, but does that mean they still need to remove someone for Plawecki who is not on the 40-man?
And by the way, as much as I detest Tejada he is tailor made for this role. I think Flores starting and Tejada backup utility IFer makes Tovar expendable.
Was there some promo or what gives?
I could understand getting 30k, but 40 both non-Harvey days in April?
I really wanted a healthy run this year but this team does have depth. More than most teams. I don't think many teams can lose a catcher of TDA's caliber and insert a major league ready 1st round pick the next day.
Robles was hitting 98 MPH last night and apparently has a wicked slider. Leathersich is on the 40 and finally seems to be getting over his wildness. Hopefully these guys aren't out too long.
Not really rocket science here.
Plus, it's not like DeGrom is chopped liver. He did win ROY last year.

Exactly. DeGrom is just as much as a "must see" as Harvey is at this point. The Mets have a hell of a 1 - 2 punch with Harvey and DeGrom.
As for Harvey I could be wrong but I thought Rubin or someone tweeted he said he was asked after 6 and he said he was gassed. I could have misread it or the tweet could have been wrong. Collins did say "When he went out in the seventh, you could tell, obviously, he was out of gas," If it was so obvious why leave him in for three batters?
Pen's getting dangerously thin again. Is Soriano still floating out there? I'm guessing they won't have any interest unless Parnell has as a set back, but if he does Soriano has to be a consideration. Don't want to see Familia and both Torres' pitch every day for a month.
Again, few teams carry three lefties in their bullpen but we did. Few teams have two young catchers of TDA's and Plawecki's caliber but we do.
Cant give Sandy enough credit.
I just feel horrible for TDA the player who was looking like he was poised to have a huge year on both sides of the plate and his confidence was through the roof lately.
TDA might have been an all-star this year. He's looked that good.
Closer- Familia
8th- A. Torres
7th- Carlos Torres
Loogy- Gilmartin
Roogy- Goedell
Anywhere man- Carlyle
Wildcard- Robles
Im not 100 percent confident in A. Torres either but let's see.
lol. Maybe.
Its the Marlins...is it really a surprise?
They give up on EVERYBODY.
Atlanta had McCann and Gattis a few seasons ago. That was Gattis' best season statistically.
Quote:
Say Plawecki shows enough in 8 weeks to be a number 1 catcher, how do you divide playing time? You can only have 1 number 1. I don't remember a catching situation ever where a team had 1A & 1B catchers

Lefty/Righty platoon works a lot better then TDA/Plawecki though. Getting pretty far ahead of ourselves anyway.
That would be an interesting move, though I wouldn't expect it so soon. They do need a Backman type, since Redmond is WAY to nice for that team. Though at first the players would not react to well to an outsider coming in and shaking things up.
If that's the price for Stanton, I take it
