2015 NFL Draft: Ranking the offensive linemen; is Brandon Scherff the best? - ( New Window )
Again scouts saying Scherff can play Tackle as well as Guard
PatersonPlank : 4/19/2015 9:55 am : link
and is the best OL. I see him now as the only OL consistently in the top 12. He may be BPA when we draft, is also a need pick, and can battle it out with Pugh for RT and G.
I still like Fisher the most
sjnyfan : 4/19/2015 9:56 am : link
If for whatever reason he makes the 2nd rd there will be alot of teams that regret passing on him in the years to come.
Nice comments about Flowers.

Seems like it's a pretty deep group (OT) this year
djm : 4/19/2015 10:12 am : link
And many of those OTs can play guard. Nyg will take one early.
JUST FOOKIN DO IT
superspynyg : 4/19/2015 10:13 am : link
Jerry!!!!

I love Scherff. I also would not be upset with Cooper, White. Ray, or Beasely.

I do not put Shelton on there because I don't know if he would be good in the 4-3 as much as he would the 3-4. 3-4 he could be pro bowler, 4-3, average dt.
For the Giants
Jerry K : 4/19/2015 10:16 am : link
It might depend on whether they want a tackle or a guard. If they don't feel good about Schwartz's durability and Jerry's ability, maybe they would go for Scherf. On the other hand, if they are thinking more about the future of the left tackle position, maybe they would go for Fisher.
Surprised by Flowers comments
Jay on the Island : 4/19/2015 10:18 am : link
They seem convinced that he can handle LT after playing RT early on. I was expecting to read that he was a G or RT only.

Greg Cosell believes he fits better in a 43 two-gapping. Playing him strictly as 34 NT is a waste of his quickness when you're simply asking him to eat up space instead of letting him use his quickness to be disruptive and get into the backfield.
Another over-hyped stiff from Iowa
HomerJones45 : 4/19/2015 10:26 am : link
you want to spend the #9 pick on a guard at least get a guy who is playing guard.
Hmmmm
Milton : 4/19/2015 10:28 am : link
Wouldn't mind seeing the Giants go Scherff in round one and then Donovan Smith or Jake Fischer in round two or Ali Marpet in round three. I know the Giants have other positions that could use help, but bringing in two OL from the top three rounds would set up the OL for years to come.
Still

think it will be Flowers.
Never seen so many different opinions in print
Giants2012 : 4/19/2015 10:39 am : link
about who is a Guard and not a Tackle.

Shelton
Marty866b : 4/19/2015 10:40 am : link
I disagree with him. I think Shelton best fits as a nose in a 3-4. I will be surprised if a 4-3 team picks him.We will soon find out.
Scherff has played nothing but tackle and dominated
PatersonPlank : 4/19/2015 11:15 am : link
The G projections are solely on his measureables. I think this is a good thing, it likely means he can play both. To use a stupid comparison, going by measureables Magic Johnson should have been a small forward not a point guard. I'm sure he would have been a great forward too, but he was also a great PG.

It isn't just about measurables. He played against smaller DL in college who could not also compete with the fact Scherff had better coaching in college. That will not be the case in the NFL and there are red flags in Scherff's film that could spell trouble against the higher quality of opponents he will face in the NFL, especially at OT

Not everyone takes media opinions as gospel, some of us actually form our own, which I know is a foreign concept to you. Cosell also said RGIII was a much better QB prospect than Andrew Luck and had a better arm and was a better passer. He was dead fucking wrong. It happens.

Says the man who aside from Xs and Os expertise(which many of us were deficient in given the dearth of info out there until the internet, Pat Kirwan et al taught us what we know) has the track record slightly above Bossman..Bromley is slow and Lumpy. No wait, I've changed my mind(a few weeks or so later)...

And Cosell is considered by many in the personnel

realm to be quite proficient at what he does..Far more than your waffling mindset
And my last word to you:
Big Blue '56 : 4/19/2015 12:46 pm : link
You are an extremely neurotic, miseranle internet bully who believes through ranting and raving that you can cut people down to size because you probably know more about Xs and Os than most of us..Whoop-de-doo..You never see far more knowledgeable posters than you like dorgan, JonC, Anish et al try to cut other people down to size with their ranting..

Go see a fucking therapist and I ask you once again to refrain from addressing any post of mine and I will be more than happy never to respond to you again..Deal?

If the Giants really like one of these guys, we will find out soon enough. I have a feeling though that one of these guys will be there in the second round also. Its a fun time of the year though. I will add one more thing, if it were so much a given, an of this, then there would not be any room for discussion, people getting paid quite a bit and put a ton of time into it get it wrong, and the reason is because everyone does, and anyone who acts like they don't, is a liar.

the only place where our OL coach has been linked to visiting is LSU which suggests Collins more then Flowers.
