the Giants and Cowboys are two huge ratings grabbers and they happen to play some very exciting football against each other that plays well for the audience who NBC is trying to reach. Add in Cruz returning and that we will see Beckham's one handed catch a zillion times in replays, it's not a big surprise.
the Giants played the Cowboys very competitively last season. I don't think the gap between the teams is all that big, but you can say that about most teams nowadays. I'm sure the Cowboys will be thinking Super Bowl - hopefully we throw a little cold water on that in Week 1.

That sucks. I was hoping the Jets game would be Sept or Oct when the weather is warm and both teams are still in it. You know one team will be done by Dec 6th.

I like SNF but it seems like we open with an NBC night game against Dallas every freaking year.
This is going to be 3 times in the last 4 seasons doing that and last year was a MNF opener against DET. 2011 was the last time we had a regular 1pm opener.

Yeah, that really sucks having 2 division night games in the first 3 weeks, but at least the Thursday night bullshit is out of the way early.
