He see Scherff as the same kind of player. He mentioned some of the old Giants (Diehl in particular) as guys who could and did play anywhere here along the line. He just wants to win.
Hickey would take a hard dig step INSIDE to block down on the DT. Since the Cuse line play from the Center to the RT was often poor and the scheme was to overload the play side Beasley was making plays from behind. He had a free rush on Hickeys side.
Another bbi IQ test. Football is a hell of a lot more about actual play on the field and situational stuff than cherry picking stats.
I appreciate posts like yours because I learn more about the game. I've always loved football and learning more about the game is something I really enjoy.
I'm sure there are plenty of others on this board who appreciate the opportunity to expand their understanding of football.
Took a little digging, but you can see the match up on the linked video for Stephone Anthony. Just watch #3 vs. #60 instead of the highlighted player. Link - ( New Window )

Hickey got hurt in the 1st quarter of that game too. Beasley faced their backup for a big stretch.
Though I think there are more talented players with a higher upside, and that he may have to play more guard, he would still instantly make the Giants' OL better than last year. Not surprised that Pugh would welcome any significant additions to the OL of talent and toughness. Any such addition will make all the other players on the OL more effective.
flew out to Iowa and did a private workout with Scherff at Pro Day.
that said, we are spending so much time and resources developing Clemmings it would be surprising if we didn't take him! we would be developing him for someone else.
game of the year against Clemson, and was dinged for about a quarter as B in ALB stated. That said, I thought it was a bit of a disappointing senior campaign for him. Looks to me like he's got skills and toughness to be a decent lineman in the NFL - strong as hell and tough - injuries are a concern. Met him a few times at the 'Cuse fan fests and was impressed. I'll be pulling for him no matter who ends up drafting him. Would be great if the Giants could grab him in the fifth.

Saying that something you happen to know a little about is an IQ test is an IQ test.
I thought he sounded sincere about his willingness to play Guard.
Not that he was just going to roll over and give up the Right Tackle position, mind you, but he said the most important thing to him was winning, and putting the best five guys up front and establishing cohesion would help the Giants do that.
Giants recent investments in the O-line are still not enough. However, if Reese goes Scherff with the #9 pick, I think we would have gone a long way in just the past 2 years of addressing a huge problem on this roster.
I just don't see enough dynamic players at the top of this particular draft worth considering. Continued focus on line seems to be the smart play in an average draft year.
Pugh raved about Syracuse OT Sean Hickey. Said he shut down Vic Beasley 2 yrs in a row, therefore should be Top 10 pick #Giants
You can't stop Vic Beasley you can only hope to contain him
This is the same mistake PFF makes all the time.

Is that right? And you know this how exactly?
Quote:
He wants to stay at RT

Hes said several times he wants to stay at Right Tackle
And who wouldn't want a top talent added to the line? Line play is not about the individual. Its about the guys next to you. Pugh knows this.

"Hey everybody, I'm a fucking moron!"
Oh, and switch to decaf...
And I don't drink coffee. I get my energy from reading the expert insights on bbi.
