A few possible draft notes and rumors

Anakim : 4/23/2015 11:17 pm
Since we're picking ninth...

An anonymous executive tells ESPN's John Keim that Clemson edge rusher Vic Beasley will likely go between Nos. 7 and 13.
A prolific pass rusher in the ACC, Beasley tore up the Combine, and is a fit for both 3-4 and 4-3 defenses. NFL draft insider Tony Pauline recently reported that the Saints will "consider trading up" for the Clemson product. The Saints choose No. 13 overall.

Iowa tackle Brandon Scherrf drawing heavy interest from NFL teams drafting between fifth and ninth spots of first round, according to source

From Tony Pauline: Sources say Andrus Peat won’t get past the St Louis Rams at 10 and could be selected even earlier. New York Giants perhaps?

Though that would contradict what JonC has been hearing

Be more apt to Believe what you heard very early in the proccess, and very late and ignore everything in the middle.
I for one would love it if Reese could get both Saints first rounders
Anakim : 4/23/2015 11:44 pm : link
For #9. If the Saints are so adamant about getting Beasley, maybe they will give up both first rounders to move up 4 spots. Who knows?
That would be the Giants dream

Some more buzz linking Peat to Giants from La Canfora
Coach Mason : 4/24/2015 12:05 am : link
Andrus Peat - T - Cardinal
ESPN's Todd McShay is concerned about Stanford T Andrus Peat's lack of finishing ability, but sees him as the class' best pure left tackle.
The analyst ranks Peat No. 12 overall. "I wish he were a little stronger as a finisher, but more so than any prospect in this class, he has the combination of elite length (6-foot-7, 313 pounds with 34 3/8-inch arms) and agility to project as a very successful left tackle in the NFL," McShay wrote.

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reported earlier this month that he continues to "hear a buzz" about Iowa's Brandon Scherff and Peat going Nos. 8 and 9. We know the Giants like Peat.

McShay also has the Giants going RB, S, S, in his latest "mock" (with Kiper).

He's doing shit now for hits.

keep in mind, at this point a lot of chatter is likely being planted by teams or agents with an agenda

I really hope Scherrf makes it to us

But I am seeing it as unlikely. I think we just miss out.
I'm hearing different on peat
DCPollaro : 4/24/2015 8:15 am : link
heard teams dont view him as aggressive enough to take that high

We know the Giants really like Peat, but I think they rank them Scherff-Flowers-Peat, so it depends on who's available at #9.
If we go OL
ANGPASS : 4/24/2015 8:33 am : link
It better be sherff. He seems like an OL this team needs.
A guy who I am having a very hard time with is Vic Beasley
UberAlias : 4/24/2015 8:44 am : link
He is just such an explosive athlete who so tempting to consider as a strong side LB in the Von Miller role. I know Spags is a creative guy who has spent time recently in both 4-3 and also 3-4, and I have to wonder if he is not drooling over this kids skills and saying to himself, I can really do some exciting things with a player like this.
I wouldn't take those two saints picks for Beasley
NoGainDayne : 4/24/2015 8:47 am : link
If he is there you run to the podium. IMO qbs and their team value aside (Eli related) Beasley is right behind Williams as the most valuable players in this draft. White and cooper are impressive prospects but WR is just not as valuable of a position as pass rusher. Beasley has the production, mixed with supreme athleticism and character.

It is a little funny to me how evaluation works sometimes, a guy like clowney goes 1 because he is tall and weighs the right amount without the production or character of clowney and a guy like Russell Wilson goes in the third round because essentially he wasn't tall enough.

The only thing you can point to with Beasley is he might be a little short and slightly light, which is especially crazy to me. The only thing that is separating fowler and Beasley seemingly is the 15 pound advantage fowler has. IMO a lot of teams will regret passing him up if they do
Sorry should read clowney doesn't have the production
NoGainDayne : 4/24/2015 8:48 am : link
Or character or Beasley
Beasley has some areas of concern
jvm52106 : 4/24/2015 8:49 am : link
but when I watch him rush the passer he reminds me of LT. He can rush with a lean (look at how LT could dip his left shoulder and lean into the blocker and then grab with his right arm and just rip around the man. Beasley shows a great deal of body control and lean that very few rushers have.

I would jump for joy of the Gmen grabbed him at 9.

Then I'm sure the Giants are attracted to him, since their lineman have little aggression.

And based on TC's comment about getting back to Giants football and Pughs comment yesterday pushing Scherff so OL gets more aggressive, I would be surprised if it was Peat.
And, on a NO trade possibility, I don't know the 'point value', but they need players, so if they are hot for the spot, they can give #31(drafting in front of Pats:-)) and 1 of their 3rds(I think earliest one is Clevelands).

In your mind what are your concerns?

And I see the same thing you do. It's a tenacity. No matter who he goes up against it seems like he is the attacker, sometimes you see him cleverly deflected or doubled but rarely do you see him taken out of a play or driven away. Great hands and feet and he uses his strength and lower center of gravity to shed even much larger blockers well.
