He meant that Clinton-Dix might be the highest rated player on the Giants board when they were on the clock, not overall.

Start him at guard his first year and watch him dominate the run game. If he develops at tackle, great. If not, he's a long time starter in the interior.

it's a projection of their board when #9 is on the clock. Unless a WR has their eye, or a DE we've heard zero about is there I still expect to pick an OT.

I think someone he trusts does feed him false info and he runs with it. Otherwise, he has a deal to intentionally throw out false info from time to time.

But maybe he has better sources this year - we'll find out I guess.

I have no problem with Flowers or Scherff, but I have a hard time believing that the Giants let a beat guy know almost a month prior to the draft who there top player was.

Teams aren't as locked down air-tight as you'd like to believe. Sure, often the media writes what teams want written, and it can be false info. But, it's a professional relationship between team and media at the same time, the media won't be so kind if they're constantly used. It's a balancing act.

projected players. There is no guarantee that any of them will be good NFL playerss, so they pick the best one available at the time of their pick.

That said we have do many holes and unknown so weather it's a wr or one of the top 3 online or a dline or even a safety we will have a player that will more than likely make us better.

If the Giants think that Flowers is their best player for them who are we to argue? I am excited in who ever we get. The only postion that would be a head scratcher would be taking a qb at 9. Especially if it's not Windto or Mariotta.

Its so true. You usually have to play pretty lousy to get a pick high enough to grab someone like that. I suspect the Giants don't want to make it a habit drafting this high.

But I think Peat has the potential to be a better LT, and Collins a better RT.

It is a balancing act for sure. The job is taking all the information you get from all the different sources and trying to find the truth.

And nobody is getting the actual board or pick. Nobody is telling me or anybody else "this is the guy we're going to choose." That would be foolish.

But after months of talking with people in and around the organization and league, I have a feel for who they like and don't like. Then I make my list based off that. It's not an accident Ebron was left off the list last year when everybody else was mocking him to the Giants. It's not an accident Gregory or Dupree aren't on this list.

To me anyway. LSU, team captain, good combine, they worked him out at his pro day. Would figure he'd at least make the list.

a hard time every now and then - and in some cases rightfully so. But that last post from Jordan is about as solid as it gets. And the draft will shake itself out one way or another but I think we all have a pretty good idea of who will be there at 9 and who the Giants like. I still think if Scherff is there he will be the pick.

However I'd be shocked if they pick Flowers. I mean really what do you see from him that guarantees he will be an absolute upgrade to Beatty? I actually find them somewhat similar.

That said, the Giants have been pretty successful with the very top of their board over the last few years, so honestly a pick may scratch may head but I very much trust the Giants with who they pick in the 1st round.

You want two athletic tackles who can pass block and also get movement downfield in the run game. Flowers would figure to be plugged in at RT for the immediate future.

Picking this early in the draft, if NYG wants an OL it's most likely going to be a tackle. Tackle has more value than guard, they can find an LG later (or that's where Pugh winds up if they pick a RT).

Pretty confident that one of those 10 players will be the Giants pick. You all have me leaning towards Flowers now.

I hadn't seen that before that I can recall. I thought that the knock was the injury concern or the lack or games played last year or even that he might not be quite as talented as Cooper/White. But I hadn't heard not ready top play before.
Personally. I'm still in the top 3 WR first camp, so I am fixin' to be majorly disappointed already.

I agree but is it true that JR only has this year as his window and, if so, would that alter the strategy?

Also, would Flowers (or even Scherff) fit a Best Tier approach at #9?

I'm not convinced he's a left tackle, but maybe he is. He sure looks like he can be a RT.

If the Giants are that high on Flowers, I'll trust them to be right about him. They get a lot of leeway after picking OBJ as the third WR drafted.

Oh sure, absolutely agreed. And one of the tackles is probably available at #9... and Tackle seems to fit the draft position better than many that will be there... I'm just thoughtful if a Tackle is the pick at #9, where everyone ends up on opening night. Does that tackle unseat Beatty or Pugh right away? Does a Flowers or a Scherff move inside at first? Does one of the young guys (Jones)step up? Does the light finally turn on for one of the others (Herman/Mosely)?

So many questions... lol. I can't wait to see what the starting lineup is opening night.

That's what camp is for : I'd wager Beatty-Pugh-Richburg-Schwartz-Flowers/Scherff
