Has Flowers & Scherff as the top 2. I just think the Giants organization is playing him like a fiddle. He makes it seem like a sure thing we go those two.
He said the same thing about Zach Martin last year. Also said HaHa Clinton-Dix would most likely be the Giants highest rated player. To me it just seems like the Giants give him false info & he runs with it (Which is his job so I'm not mad at it) I don't like that he shoots down anything that doesn't involve those two like it's impossible.
10 most likely picks - (

The draft is about getting the best talent for the future, less about perceived needs for the season at hand. Picking this early in the draft, if NYG wants an OL it's most likely going to be a tackle. Tackle has more value than guard, they can find an LG later (or that's where Pugh winds up if they pick a RT).
I agree but is it true that JR only has this year as his window and, if so, would that alter the strategy?
Also, would Flowers (or even Scherff) fit a Best Tier approach at #9?
I'm not so sure that there is this one year window for Reese to turn it around that may make him alter his approach. What I think is different this year and could make him change things up are the two glaring holes at LG/RT and Safety. I don't remember the last time we went into the draft with some clear holes in the starting line up. Maybe they are content to let Taylor and Berhe start in the secondary but I don't think they want to go into the season with Jerry as your LG. I've consistently said they will go OL in the first, not because I believe in the OL or bust idea, simply because the lack of a clear effort in FA to fill that hole on the OL and the way I expect the players to fall of the board. I just don't know who they prefer. My prediction is still Flowers.
Beatty-Scherff-Richburg-Schwartz-Pugh.
I have a feeling that Jones may surprise as well. I think he and Jerry are the backup guards. Which means of course, that you are probably correct Jon... lol
@ Jordan .. thanks for the work. I hope if Flowers is the target.. we aggressively pursue a trade down. Any sense that is the case?
The track record of his sources are spot in going on 5 years in the first round.
Id be happy with any of the 3 wideouts, Sherff, Collins, Fowler and Peat. So at this point, I think we are looking quite good at 9.
Also its a testament to this site that columnists like Raanan would put their name in lights and explain something they said articulately as he just did without getting defensive about it. It is also a testament to him as a writer and a fan of the game.
Cheers Jordan. Class post, class move and thanks for anything you share.
I've gotten a chance to watch more and more of his games the last week. The thing that really hits you off the screen is how smooth and fluid he is getting into the second layer at putting the LB on his ass. I just don't see the same kind of open field awareness from the other guys mentioned. Peat, Collins, Flowers all seem to get lost or completely whiff blocks once they get upfield. This is where Scherff really excels, imho. Super physical and super athletic.
With that being said, Scherff will really need to work on his pass blocking at the next level, particularly if he's to be considered at tackle. He just allows his man up into his pads and gets bull rushed a little too frequently for such a big man. It's fixable, but for that reason alone, I don't see him unseating Pugh in year one.
I'm okay with him at 9.
People saying they've heard we want Flowers, Scherff or Peat would seem like a stupid move by the Giants if we really do want them. Teams like the Rams, Fins & many others see that & could get to 7 or 8 because they don't think those guys will make it to their pick.
Joey - I haven't looked back except for 2014. He had both Martin #1 & Clinton-Dix #3 above Odell. We passed on both. Also had Lewan right below Martin at 2. So I'm assuming we most likely would have passed on Lewan also.

Rick, draft day is the day to ask. This source (not Ranaan but one close to him) nailed JPP, Nicks, Wilson, Beckham and Pugh on the day of. I didn't believe any of them but all turned out right.
Stones? If there, he will do it in a heartbeat
