....I'm starting to think that they should give strong consideration to Gurley. He and Beckham on the field together would make for a pretty dynamic offense the next 5 years.

Given the "win now" imperative the front office and coaching staff are facing, I have to think they won't take Gurley unless 1) they think he's going to be ready to play Week 1 and star by Week 9, OR 2) Reese has been given some kind of assurance his job is safe barring a season with 3 wins or less.
The sad truth is, I too believe that the Giants will go WR with the first pick. The Giants love drafting a player they believe with bring the most bang for this buck. Here is the problem, unless they find a way to score at least 30+ per game it won't make them a better team. The Giants will be in last place with a team that put up a lot of points but could not stop the other team from putting up more points. Okay, so let's fix this. Based on the needs of the Giants and the strength of the draft have to go with the following draft:
1. DE. ALVIN DUPREE, KENTUCKY. So much wanted to go with Shelton with this pick and only making this pick if Dupree is able to play the strong side defensive spot. Based on the strength of this draft don't see a DE worth taking after the second round, a bit deeper for the DT's.
2. OT. D.J. HUMPHRIES, FLORIDA. Looking to draft the best OT in the second round, and Humphries would be a perfect fit to play the right tackle spot.
3. CB. ERIC ROWE, UTAH. I just hope that he is here. Looking for Eric to be more of the FS then CB. Need to draft the best on the board, hoping that Rowe is still there?
4. SS. JAQUISKI TARTT, SAMFORD. Yes another need pick and another reach pick, however see this a deep draft for secondary and the Giants need all of the help they can get.
5. TE. JEFF HEUERMAN, OHIO ST. So many needs and not many picks. Could go many ways with this pick, so I hope it will be a good one.
6. DT. TYELER DAVISON, FRESNO ST. Looking to pick the best DT on the board with this pick.
7. WR. VINCE MAYLE, WASHINGTON STATE. Save that first round pick on a WR. Good talent here, just work with Mayle and you should be rewarded.
7. OG. JARVIS HARRISON, TEXAS A&M. Each year one always will see an offensive lineman that drops for no reason, here to hoping with this pick.
chiefs, what makes you think Dupree can play strong side DE?
I wouldn't trust him as a DE in the NFL. I have not seen anything out of him suggesting that he is capable of playing DE at the NFL level. He's a one trick pony that projects better to an OLB in a 3-4 where you can utilize what he does well. Putting him at DE basically limits his skills.
Those first eight is the worst case scenario for the Giants. I would take Shelton at that point unless the Giants really like one of the offensive tackles or Gurley.
RE: Will the Jets beat the Giants to their target pick?
Interesting mock.
I don't think the Giants really want Parker and would probably try to trade down.
That would be worse than trying to play Wallace.

Reese has said he'd take a playmaker over an OL with a comparable grade every time.
