deGrom is susceptible to lefties as his wOBA is 361. Also BAA is 394 so Girardi is going lefty heavy in this game. Still small sample size as its only 3 starts but its a little worrying, I predict his shutout streak will end in this game.
deGrom nor Harvey have yet to pitch a game with their A+ stuff to go with their A+ command. They have had very good starts,but they can both pitch better consistently

But am I the only one who finds the Mets/Yankees confrontation is upon us too early in the season? Playing these games in April is sort of a waste. Usually look upon these match-ups as a pick-me-up when the season gets a bit dull. Would much rather see these games played in June.

I think they feel the excitement of this series. They know what it means to the fans and the city and all the media coverage that goes along with it. They have pride and I think feel a little something extra about wanting to win this series. Their competitive athletes and mostly young guys. It is natural to want to win bragging rights in your home city.

Dunno why he'd be unavailable. He pitched three in a row earlier in the season and had Monday and Tuesday off before closing Wed/Thur -- and those weren't taxing closes (27 pitches combined both outings).

FWIW I have MLB At Bat, which has the second HR at 425. It would be out anywhere. His first HR went 372, and given how close it was to the foul line it would probably also be out in any park. The only real cheapie was Ellsbury's.

I think they feel the excitement of this series. They know what it means to the fans and the city and all the media coverage that goes along with it. They have pride and I think feel a little something extra about wanting to win this series. Their competitive athletes and mostly young guys. It is natural to want to win bragging rights in your home city.
I agree but its something that bears watching, its possible the league has figured out that lefties can be his Achillies heel or it can be that he was tiring during a game and lefties just happened to come up a few times.

If you hit a ball that would travel 600 feet under normal conditions, the outfield fence is 300, and I build another enormous wall behind the fence that the ball bounces off, it's still more informative to describe the bomb you hit as a 600 foot HR, not a 300 foot HR. The place where Tex's HR physically landed in the stands is probably only about 380 feet away from home plate, but it was obviously still pretty high up and would presumably travel another 40 or 50 feet before hitting the ground if the grandstand didn't exist.
FWIW I have MLB At Bat, which has the second HR at 425. It would be out anywhere. His first HR went 372, and given how close it was to the foul line it would probably also be out in any park. The only real cheapie was Ellsbury's.

So those were not the result of "little league" ballpark, and calling it that is pretty dumb anyways considering the park does not play that way as far as runs scored goes since it's opened. Is it a pitchers park? No, but it's not an extreme hitters park, either.
