Met fans develop tough skin?. Bwaa Haaa Haaa. We have been the butt of national jokes and have sucked for 6 to 10 years at a clip. What can they possibly say that we haven't heard 100 times before?
and 3 days in Sept. I couldn't tell you 8 players on that team. I never read their stories in the upper, I never watch their highlights, I know as much about them as I do the Seattle Mariners
It doesn't matter, fellas. Don't make this series about the fan war and nonsense.. it's going to be good from an actual baseball standpoint. Let's enjoy that part of it and hope for at least 2 of 3.
I probably won't see much of this one because of the Rangers but I'll be at a bar so I should be able to catch what I can.
deGrom is susceptible to lefties as his wOBA is 361. Also BAA is 394 so Girardi is going lefty heavy in this game. Still small sample size as its only 3 starts but its a little worrying, I predict his shutout streak will end in this game.
deGrom nor Harvey have yet to pitch a game with their A+ stuff to go with their A+ command. They have had very good starts, but they can both pitch better consistently
truth be told, I'm more concerned how they perform against the Nats
While those game do obviously mean more for the division. I think this series possibly tells us more about what they are made of. Much higher level of pressure.

There's a handful of suuuuper ahole insufferable Yankee fans...most of already on that thread...and they must be little kids because it would be really sad if they were adults and still acted that way (yeesh). They never stop running their mouth, ever. Glad to have the adult thread over here.
Lets not get ridiculous with the lefty thing over three games
Do you really think the players view this as anything more than it is an inter league game in the road at the end of April? Fans view these games a lot differently than the players do.
Obviously will be watching and rooting for the streak to continue
But am I the only one who finds the Mets/Yankees confrontation is upon us too early in the season? Playing these games in April is sort of a waste. Usually look upon these match-ups as a pick-me-up when the season gets a bit dull. Would much rather see these games played in June.
has looked this year was the exhibition game against the Rangers in Texas two days before the season started. I have never seen him look THAT good before. The announcers were seriously thinking he would win the Cy Young this year. He was absolutely unhittable.

I think they feel the excitement of this series. They know what it means to the fans and the city and all the media coverage that goes along with it. They have pride and I think feel a little something extra about wanting to win this series. Their competitive athletes and mostly young guys. It is natural to want to win bragging rights in your home city.
RE: Lets not get ridiculous with the lefty thing over three games
Over a MUCH larger sample last year lefty batters hit .224 against deGrom. Righties hit .225.
I agree but its something that bears watching, its possible the league has figured out that lefties can be his Achillies heel or it can be that he was tiring during a game and lefties just happened to come up a few times.
should be a great series. Looking forward to it very much, and honestly don't have all that much animosity towards the Yankees at all. Not gonna say they are just another team, but the hatred hasn't percolated yet between these 2 current rosters.
I found it interesting that Collins used Familia yesterday with a 3 run lead which I think means he can't be used tonight. If that's right, Collins decided a division win is more important than the subway series and I agree with that move. But, it seems to me that in the past, winning the bragging rights meant more than anything else. Si, Im concluding that for the first time in a long time, the Mets are acting as though post season is a real possibility and that is great news.

Dunno why he'd be unavailable. He pitched three in a row earlier in the season and had Monday and Tuesday off before closing Wed/Thur -- and those weren't taxing closes (27 pitches combined both outings).
They can't help but be insufferable dickbags.
Let's Go Mets!
Also mets are batting 1.072 OPS in bases loaded situations, with 27 runs scored in 27 PA, doubling the next best team.

Just have to shake your head and laugh at the continuing stereotypical Yankee fans.
Good luck this weekend and the rest of the season. Looks like it will be an enjoyable one.
I call Mike & Ike's!

Mets go Let's.
Will DeGrom continue marveling?
How about Familia if asked to close a close game in Yankee Stadium against the cross town rivals?
Will Duda keep on rolling; drive in a key run if needed?
Lagares make a few more highlight catches in center field?
I could go on and on. I am excited to see how this young team answers the bell. This is going to be fun.

That said, he's still been pretty damn good. lol.

He's very good against lefties.
Molina. Not too many pitching prospects in baseball I'd take over him
I'll be their tomorrow for Harvey
Let's just get this three game waste of a series over, and get back to games that actually mean something....
I call Mike & Ike's!
Or game thread for Mets fans and candyass Yankee fans
It's ok, Batman.. you'll be a Mets fan soon enough :)
