NFT: Mets Minors 4/25/2015- Matz brilliant

DanMetroMan : 4/25/2015 9:18 am
Matz almost tossed a no-no allowing a Nick Evans single with 2 outs in the 7th. Final line 7 innings 2 hits 0 runs 1 walk 5 k's

Herrera 2-6, 2b, 2 rbi
Reynolds 2-4, HR, BB, K
Matz added 2 hits going 2-3
Leathersich perfect 2 k's

AA
King 2-5, HR, 2 k's
Nimmo 2-5, 2b, K
Boyd 1-5
Ynoa was awful 4.2 innings 10 hits 6 runs 3 walks 2 k's

A+
Stuart 1-6, BB, 4 k's (the K rate is going to be an issue for a speed/defense guy like Stuart)
Smith 1-1
Conforto 0-5 3 BB (all intentional.... Barry Bonds style!)

Urena 2-7 2b, K
Rosario 2-7 2 k's
L. Taylor 5 innings 7 hits 2 runs 6 k's
Morris 2 perfect 3 k's
Regnault 4 innings 1 hit 0 runs 0 walks 3 k's
Secrest 3 innings 1 hit 0 runs 1 walk 2 k's

Savannah
Becerra 04 2 k's
Nido 1-3, BB, K
Meisner 6 innings 5 hits 1 run 2 walks 5 k's (Along with Molina, the top 2 pitching prospects after Thor/Matz/Montero by a significant margin)
Roseboom 2 perfect 5 k's
How about that

Robles? Could you picture a tougher situation to make your debut? The only scene I could think of if it was a 1 or 2 run game. Matz will be a solid number 3 with potential to be higher, I can't wait for his call up. This is a guy the bigger the situation, the better he pitches. Being a Long Island guy, Citi Field will be a piece of cake
Leathersich & Morris

are lights out this season. Keep it up guys
Did STL play extras
pjcas18 : 4/25/2015 9:37 am : link
must have or had a high scoring game if Conforto had 8 ABs

Stuart

is raw for his age and has intriguing tools but 22 k's in 56 ab's MUST improve or he's not going to get his shot
Matz will be better

That Savannah-Charleston game was a 1-0 double gem.

Meisner didn't do badly, the only run scored off of him was one of those Single, Stolen Base, 3rd on the throwing error, scores on a Sac Fly. The Pitcher for Charleston was Luis Cedeno, just called up from Extended Spring. He went 5 innings to pick up his first win.

Wuilmer had a tough night. Batting 3rd with little protection he also GIDP in addition to his 2 K's.

Big Josh Prevost is pitching tonight and Martires Arias, another 6' 7" righty is chucking on Sunday.

Let's Go Gnats

Really excited about Herrera, Reynolds and Matz
Eric on Li : 4/25/2015 11:39 am : link
1 of those 3 could be impact guys for the big club, and possibly 2 of them, by mid-season.
Arias

strikes be as a ringer/

I never heard of Arias before today.....looks like he's been kicking around the Independent Leagues for a while. He's supposed to be 24-25 years old, at least according to his Dominican Birth Records.

It's raining in Charleston today, tonight's game may be cancelled and I'll get to see Josh Prevost on Sunday.

I

think Arias replaced Molina when they decided to skip a level. Reyes is older because he signed so late. Arias has been around for 5-6 years.
Will be beautiful
gmenrule : 4/25/2015 9:16 pm : link
when our rotation is Harvey, DeGrom, Wheeler, Syndergaard and Matz.
Conforto
pjcas18 : 4/25/2015 9:25 pm : link
back on track, 3 for 4 with a HR, 2 RBI (in progress).

I think he could probably move up to Binghamton and who know, maybe even be a September call up?

Just nowhere for him to play regularly until 2017 unless the Mets unload either Cuddyer or Grandy or one of them is injured (which I wouldn't bet against). Might be a storybook September/October if he gets called up for the playoffs (wishful thinking?)

Nimmo slowly climbing to respectability 2 for 5, after a slow start up to .276. He's not walking like he did last year though.

I'd be surprised if Conforto hits AA before June

There's no good reason to rush him and you want to make sure his performance isn't just a hot streak.

yeah, probably true, the only reason I'd suggest otherwise is because there was some speculation(though it was a longshot) he might start out in AA this year and not A+.
has Matz passed Thor as a prospect?
chris r : 4/25/2015 11:06 pm : link
He seems to have much better makeup which I think is pretty underrated.
I dont know if Thor is ready for Queens
spike : 4/25/2015 11:08 pm : link
mentally. Not to mention physically. He's going to have to get over his immaturity and display some professionalism.

Remember that ST incident when DWright had to take his lunch plate away because he was eating while his teammates were still in a game? Now another twitter embarrassment..
Not to mention Thor hasn't pitched well for a while
chris r : 4/25/2015 11:12 pm : link
.
I love Matz's consistence. His era each season starting 2012 has been
Ira : 4/26/2015 8:30 am : link
1.55, 2.62, 2.24 and 2.01.

Thor just hit a wall when he was promoted to AAA and hasn't pitched well enough to take the last step. We should be patient with him. He seems to have what it takes to do it. Some players just take more time.
Thor will be fine
Headhunter : 4/26/2015 8:33 am : link

he hasn't pitched because he had food poisoning.
Thor
DanMetroMan : 4/26/2015 10:42 am : link
has comparable numbers to Harvey and Wheeler at the same level. I'm not suggesting he will ever be Matt Harvey (I have my own concerns with him) but his "poor" numbers are overstated a bit.
If leathersich can maintain his consistent control...
Torrag : 4/26/2015 5:01 pm : link
...he's got big upside.
Michael Conforto

Speaking of pitching, the Sox SP could use some help.
