Good morning Yankee and Ranger fans! 'Twas a good night last night in the great land of NY. I love when. My teams have double duo nights like that (Jeters last game and Giants beat Redskins on Thursday night Football) anyway, another stellar performance last night by Michael Pineda going 7.2 giving up 1 ER and 5 H! The TeX man with 2 HRs and 4 RBIs and even Stephen Drew collected one. I know the rivalry is fierce competition and loyalty within, but stay clean and LetsGoYankees!
Sabathia vs Harvey at 4:05.
It isn't about futility at the plate. It's about having the balls to go up to the plate after beaning someone 2 innings prior.
National League fans always use this ridiculous point of view. How many pitchers have you ever seen thrown at? It just doesn't happen. Not very often. And just as many batters get hit in the NL as they do in the AL.
You really enjoy watching pitchers flail away aimlessly simply because you like them having "balls"? Ok then.
He occasionally looks good, but then boom he gets blown up. He is the one weak link in the pitching staff. At this point I think the Yanks have a better chance winning when Warren starts. Bill Parcels said you are what your record says.
When Ivan Nova comes back perhaps it is CC that should go.
Again just my opinion but there is something to be said for the game being played as it was intended. One teams best nine collective players they can field against another's best nine.
And the line about how the game was meant to be played has been talked about often. All sports have evolved. Why should baseball be immune? Just my opinions.
Again, I see this kind of comment all the time. But when was the last time you seen a pitcher drilled in retaliation? It's incredibly rare. Pitchers are not going to retaliate by hitting another pitcher. They've got to hit too, so why would they do that?
There's just no substance to this myth.
Pedro got hit batting and started a brawl. That's the only one I remember off hand.
Adrian Beltre sent Garrett Richards a $300 invoice for the three bats he broke yesterday. Richards loved it. He sent him back a bat.
AAA Flores & Heathcott hitting well. Flores really hitting well with power. Either would be an upgrade from Beltran if it wasn't for the 30 million he's owed. Austin has been awful, Refsnyder too although he's started to hit a little but with no power. Pitching Brian Mitchell has started well. Still too many walks but a good WHIP and k per inning. Burawa & Lindgren both pitching well out of the bullpen. Lindgren 12 K's 8 innings but 5 walks.
AA Jagielo & Judge both 3 HR's and about .900 OPS in a pitchers league. Bird started really slow but hitting now OPS up to .840. Was under .200 BA for a little while. Sanchez started even slower than Bird now up to .720 OPS was hitting .120 the first time I looked. Mason Williams cooling off from a hot start still high OBP but no power. Severino 20 k's 6 BB's in 15 innings
Anything below AA is beyond my scope so Dune or Phil or others can inform us.
Tyler Wade is hitting well above .300 and Andujar has cooled a bit after a very hot start. Rookie Davis is breaking out this season in a big way. Very talented.
Mateo, Avelino and Fowler are the story in Low A. Mateo and Avelino are in the top handful in the whole of the minor leagues in SBs and Fowler is killing it.
Domingo Acevedo and Ian Clarkin are on the shelf right now.
CF Fowler is another guy to watch in Charleston. I think he's got a 12 game hit streak going, but the power hasn't been there yet.

Yeah to be in High A at his age is very impressive. Soft hands, good range and a good arm, he's probably more above average than plus as a defender but he should be fine.
