He's always busted it 100%, was here through the darkest of the dark days, got thrown into the fire defensively at 2 different positions, and now as they turn the corner it's just clear he's not going to be a part of it. I want to upgrade his defense as much as anyone but he's been a good Met and I hope things work out for both sides. Worst case scenario I guess he could be a great bench bat/insurance against an injury to Wright?
they aren't going to advance Herrera needlessly, nor sell Murph off for no reason, but obviously it's already a topic of conversation around the club. Just saying it's something that would be in anyone's head in that situation. This is his life/livelihood.
I could see Herrera up by the end of May/Beginning of June
to their bullshit, shame on me. Anyway, I would go along with Keith Hernandez and put Murphy on notice that he has to clean up the fielding mental screw ups. He is not on scholarship

Same BS every year on BBI with the Subway series. Don't get sucked in.
The guy is playing the best center fielding the game right now so how great is it when he can do that at the plate as well? There are so many individual player stories to watch this season it is going to be a very fun season to watch.
Lagares going 4 for 4, another 2 hit day for Flores, 1st HR for
If they get abusive, just ignore them or leave the thread. I don't want to have to ban people for this shit.
It's like the political stuff. Most people are OK to be reasonable and respect differing opinions, but it's always a few assholes who ruin it for everyone.
When your little brother grows up and is bigger and stronger.
Then kicks your ass in front of everyone.
Doesn't matter how many you have won in the past.
Little brother is winning now so deal with it.
sorry Gary, I really wasnt trying to be an asshole
But the Mets thread yesterday became...well, im sure you read it. There was no reason for it to get that bad if we just could keep things separate...as was the intention.
And todays thread was fine for the most part...until it wasnt. Hopefully tomorrow is better.
Mets have alot of winning to do before we can start gloating.
I agree, but there was zero reason for that outlash by that one Yankee fan today. Even on yesterday's thread, there were three harmless comments made by some of us in the heat of the moment and then came the onslaught of Yankee fans to either rub the win in our faces or defend the honor of the Yankees. I mean, come on. Just grow up already. Doubt it will happen though.
Let's try to take the high road and see where it goes.
I just hate being treated like 2nd class citizen. When we stunk we followed them, now when we are winning its all about rather having the Yankees lose as our prime focus? I mean come on
Going into the weekend weren't you the guy saying you weren't going to read any of the game threads. (grin)
Seriously though, you have been a Met fan since their inception. You have nothing to prove or defend to anyone, especially fans of another team. Just roll with it and don't let any of it get to you.
This season is going to be a lot of fun, don't let anyone cheat you out of even an ounce of it.
(I think HH has said he feels this way too) but I love the fact the core of this team is home grown and there are more homegrown players on the cusp of contributing.
Cuddyer, Grandy, and Colon, only significant FA signings.

No it isn't just you. I think it's natural for most fans to feel this way. Watching a team develop into something great is what makes it so special.
It weird but when they went after the Met fan base
I was thinking not of myself, but the good guys here that I interact with every day and I know you guys are fans of the Mets and don't concern yourselves with other teams. I just saw red when I read 4 different people write about the fan base. I should have taken my advise and not gone on the threads
It has nothing to do with the Mets unless the Mets get to the world series.
There's nothing interesting or hateable about the yankees. They're a bunch of old or uninteresting (or both) players.
Tried listening to the YES call of the game. It's so boring and lifeless I almost punctured my own eardrums. Maybe THAT'S the most offensive thing about the Yankees. They're horrid on TV and radio.
RE: I don't really care if the yankees win or lose on any given night.
We hold ground over the next 4 games (maybe not so easy as Miami is playing better and Gee and Montero start two games in that series) and we've got a real shot to put them in a huge hole with the 4 game set at Citifield next week. When you get to near 10 games out, that's a big hole, even if it would just be early May.
We can help to put an early stake into their postseason chances.
4 home games and deGrom and Harvey start the first two. I know they're battling injuries in the lineup, but still, even healthy it will be an uphill slog trying to come from 10 or so back. Things have set up nicely and the team is absolutely seizing the moment thus far. Great start to the year -- been a long time waiting for this!
is that we would only have 2 left hand bats without him and they are locked in hitting leadoff and 3rd. That's a long stretch of RH batters if we bring up Dilson.
Weird that as soon as the games matter he can't hit.
They are waiting for Herrera to be ready
It's more likely that Murph starts hitting, though.
He's a career 288 hitter and there is nothing to indicate that he won't do it again this season.

Harvey was a true stopper today.

Ditto. Honestly I didn't know of the Yankees' season record until yesterday. It just doesn't matter to me.
