Anyone miss Saturday NFL Draft days?

JoeyBigBlue : 4/25/2015 6:10 pm
Really not happy with this new Thursday night prime time format. I hate waiting almost to May to watch the draft. I miss knowing my teams top 3 picks all in one day. The draft day parties where we would watch for 7 hours or so. It just not the same anymore.
I miss draft day parties
BigBlueDownTheShore : 4/25/2015 6:14 pm : link
And the wait, but it is alright otherwise.
Yes
River Mike : 4/25/2015 6:16 pm : link
absolutely, 100%. I am really bummed by this new format. We used to have a party, my son's would come over, my brother etc. No more. Now I sit and watch it by myself. But they get better TV ratings because instead of parties where a bunch of people watch 1 TV, now they have those people sitting home alone watching a bunch of TVs. Its money, money, money. Sometimes I wish I didn't love the game so much
Not really

If you used to watch by yourself, then not much has changed. Or if your get togethers consisted of retirees, probably not much has changed.
True.

I have always watched by myself..No real choice as my paperstake up the entire room..:)
new format
TommyWiseau : 4/25/2015 7:30 pm : link
Stinks, hate it
The new format absolutely positively sucks.
Red Dog : 4/25/2015 7:35 pm : link
I am considering not even watching at all this year. Have lots of other things to do.

And I hate waiting this late in the spring, too. I find myself losing interest while waiting this long.

I wish they would put the draft back to early April and go back to doing it over the weekend.
yes
spike : 4/25/2015 7:37 pm : link
its been a long long wait for the draft.
In the beginning it was televised on a Tuesday
Clearwater Joe : 4/25/2015 8:00 pm : link
it started about 8 am and ESPN ran with it until 5 pm. Then we had to wait for the Wednesday am newspaper
Yeah, I do miss it
ChathamMark : 4/25/2015 8:02 pm : link
Fit my schedule very nicely.
I miss it too
jcn56 : 4/25/2015 8:05 pm : link
really wish they'd go back. Not an old man, 'get off my lawn' type deal, just fit into the schedule a lot easier the old way.
Miss it big time
shocktheworld : 4/25/2015 8:10 pm : link
Hate the new sched
Love both schedules.
Big Blue '56 : 4/25/2015 8:20 pm : link
I love discussing round 1 after it's over and then having nearly a full day to discuss and speculate about the next two rounds..Then before day 3, there's also loads of time to discuss what we've done followed by the various/endless possibilities of rounds 4-7 once we know the players that are left..

It rocks, imo
That all said,
Big Blue '56 : 4/25/2015 8:35 pm : link
for those having to work the next day, this schedule can put a crimp on things..Weekends were a respite from that
It was nice, but not nice enough to where I miss it
Stupendamatic : 4/25/2015 8:47 pm : link
New format isn't a issue for me.
I hate almost anything that Roger Goodell
Dry Lightning : 4/25/2015 8:53 pm : link
has done to change the game. However, I do like this Thursday, Friday, Saturday format better than Saturday/Sunday or the old Tuesday one, for those old enough to remember. Kinda nice this way. You get to watch the first two rounds in prime time when you would be watching tv anyway. The old format ruined your weekend, held hostage to watching the the thing all day.
Yes, of course
sb from NYT Forum : 4/25/2015 9:05 pm : link
Setting it two weeks later, then stretching it to what, 4 days? Ridiculous. Draft day used to be the bomb. Now it's annoying.
I remember the 80's when it was on during the week
larryflower37 : 4/25/2015 9:48 pm : link
And I would fake sick to watch.
With that said this new format is ridiculous.
Give me a Saturday and Sunday marathon any day.
......
Micko : 4/25/2015 10:13 pm : link
I love it. I can't exactly blow a whole Saturday and Sunday w/ kids but I sure as hell can watch Thursday and Friday night.
I hate the new format
illmatic : 4/25/2015 10:22 pm : link
With the old version, you just needed to manage to get that one day off from work to watch the first few rounds, assuming you're the type who doesn't get weekends off. Then you could sit and enjoy the draft like that. Now it's three separate days. I'm lucky if I get one of the days off to enjoy and watch it. I think I'll get to watch the first round this year and that's it. I loved seeing what would happen in round 2 or 3, now I usually miss that. Or I'll catch that but miss the first round pick live. It sucks.
I don't mind the new format
Anakim : 4/25/2015 10:24 pm : link
I love that the Draft is primetime. I just wish they included the second round in the night and then they can have the third and fourth round the next day and the fifth, sixth and seventh round the day after that.
I used to love going...
Dunedin81 : 4/25/2015 10:42 pm : link
to MSG for the draft. If you got there at a reasonable hour it was no trouble to get in, they'd even hand you swag for your trouble. It was nice to be among the diehards, even as a kid, booing Theismann and making fun of the Jets. It has taken on a life of its own at this point. I'll tune in, but the new format, the traveling circus, it's not the same.

My thoughts exactly. And there are always so many great prospects left over for round two that it really feels like we get two round ones the way it plays out.
As someone with an 18 month old

And plans virtually every weekend-- I love the weeknight coverage on Thursday and Friday. I'd probably find a way to watch if the main part was on Saturday but I don't have to move heaven and earth to watch Thursday and Friday night. It works for me. And Saturday is still a cool all day affair.

even when I was younger this schedule would still work for me. I guess I like it on either format.
I used to have a draft party under the old format
UberAlias : 4/26/2015 8:03 am : link
It was the one sporting event I hosted each year and was a blast. Now, I'm usually watching by myself, maybe I'll talk to my brother a few times on the phone, that's it. Maybe have some food, but no reason to do anything special. Needless to say, this format sucks.

Exactly. I would suspect that most of those that have no problem with the new format are guys who used to watch it alone anyway.

This i true for me. I usually watched alone. LAst year I went to the event at met life and I have gone there a few times before but honestly I think i'd prefer to just stay home and watch it. The one year in 04 when NY was picking 4th and took Eli it was worth going to the stadium....not sure now.
