You really don't get it at all. This wasn't a ploy. The guy had struggled from childhood and put on dresses since he was child because he identified as a woman from his soul. When he did the Olympics he did it because he wanted to drown his true feelings with the rigerous training and see if it would change how he felt internally, but it didn't.

The Kardashian clan made it easy for him to hide his true self because they were such strong personalities themseleves that he could just blend into the background and not have all the eyes on him.

The guy had real gender issues and it haunted him for years and it had nothing to do with anything other then his inner soul.

He used his fame to send a message, don't all sorts of celebrities do the same thing for various other reasons?
