AA-
King 2-5, 2b, K
Nimmo 2-5, K
Boyd 1-5, K
Cessa 5 innings 11 hits 4 runs 2 walks 3 k's
Sewald 1 inning 1 hit 0 runs 0 walks 1 k (0 earned runs so far this season)
A+
Conforto 3-4, BB, HR, 2B (Barring an emergency we likely don't see him until June of next season but he seemingly has a shot to push Granderson to the bench sooner rather than later)
McNeil 2-5, 2b, K
Rosario 0-4, K
Urena 0-4, K
Stuart 0-4 BB, 2K (his K rate is ridiculous at this point. I've mentioned liking Stuart before but unless he improves a ton in regard to this he's not going to make it).
Whalen 7.2 innings 5 hits 3 runs 2 earned 1 walk 4 k's
Morris 1 perfect 2 k's (he's been very good)
Savannah
Guillorme 2-3, 2 BB (great start)
Lupo 1-4, 2 K
Becerra 1-1
Looking forward to he and Nimmo though.
More productive player should play regardless of the price tag..... What's the alternative? Conforto doesn't play until 2017? I can't see that. If anything maybe they have the balls to dump Granderson for a similarly overpriced guy at another position. The holding onto guys like Bay stuff was frustrating because it was because of money but in fairness they never had a Conforto or Nimmo to replace a guy like Bay. I just can't see Conforto mashing and not being promoted if one of Granderson or Cuddyer is "struggling".
Wuilmer appeared late as a pinch-hitter and singled. And was promptly picked off. Oh well.
Conceivably Nimmo might have the higher floor since he can play averagish CF so maybe if he doesn't develop as hoped he can still be a Kirk type but realistically the floors are probably Kirk type vs. Andrew Brown type. I think both will easily surpass that. Just saying. Conforto has better odds of being a difference maker offensively. Maybe a Pat the Bat type, dream huge and a Matt Holliday.

Any clue on Prevost's velocity? Older but was an intriguing senior pick
OF is very thin. They have some real young kids like Cespedes (at least 4-5 years away at minimum) but overall yeah they have 2 top OF prospects in Conforto and Nimmo. Intriguing Becerra, and some guys worth monitoring (Stuart etc). Brosher could end up in the OF and his bat is very intriguing.
They decided to leave him in short season. He will open in BK in a few months
I was listening on the radio, and not too intently at that. I don't think they mentioned his velocity, I think he just ran out of gas in the 5th and gave up a string of singles. There are also 3 Sand Gnats errors in the Box Score, but those are still 4 ER in 6 innings. The upshot is, he faced the Dogs last week in Savannah and pitched much the same way -- 5 ER in 5 innings with 7 K's and only 1 walk. I think the kid is still feeling his way in the Sally League.
We're not in Seton Hall anymore.
2) Michael Cuddyers influence & leadership
Do you have a source for all these claims about Cuddyer? Thanks in advance.
Thanks. His height likely helps that play up further.
Ive been saying this for like a year now. The pitching in the lower levels isn't all that outstanding.
1. Justin Upton, .812 OPS over past 3 seasons, .753 road, 15 million $ in 2015, then a free agent, high K Totals against, package cost recent 1st rounder Max Fried among others...
2. Wil Myers, .724 OPS so far, .748 on the road, coming off wrist injury, high K totals against, Package cost last year's 1st rounder Trea Turner among several others.
3. Matt Kemp, .842 OPS so far, .869 on the road (including 1.042 in over 100 AB at Coors), package included 2010 1st rounder Yasmani Grandal among others. He'll cost the Padres 15 million in 2015 and the 4 years after that - while hoping his body holds up.
4. Cuddyer has the lowest K rate among these 4, the highest OPS (.887) total, the 2nd highest road OPS (.795 with most road games in extreme pitcher parks), will cost the 2nd lowest money total over the next two years and also only cost one young prospect instead of 3+ and the lowest 1st rounder of the 4...
They said any coach or manager will tell you they'll take the guy that makes the every day routine play over and over again over the guy that makes the flashy play but flubs the easy one once in a while every day of the week. I just thought it was interesting in relation to Flores.
But also only signing him for two years was just as smart.
The signing that I always hated was Granderson. It wasn't about the money but the length of the contract. Was not a fan of this
And I'm not so excited about Wright coming back. Campbell has done a superb job and unfortunately Dzvid Wright has seen his better days
Conforto is absolutely making a mockery of A+ ball.
