The way this draft sets up for me, in picks #9 and #40, one of them has to be a starting Offensive Lineman.
Below is a link to ALL New York Giants Draft Picks since 1936, on one scroll.

The only linemen we have selected in the first two rounds since Chris Snee 2nd rd, 2004 are: Wichburg (2nd, 2014, Pugh (1st, 2013), & Beatty (2nd, 2009). In that same time since Snee we have selected: Guy Whimper (4th, 2006), Adam Koets (6th, 2007), Mitch Petrus (5th, 2010), James Brewer 4th, 2011), Brandon Mosley (4th) & Matt McCants (6th) 2012, and Eric Hermann (7th 2013). I call that “zero for 7”. past the 2nd rd.
Our weakness up the middle at LB & Safety is well documented. Our need for a JPP bookend to help this weakness in coverage, I agree with. But I have more faith in Ayers, Selvie, or Moore, stepping up with pressure, then I do in John Jerry or Dallas Reynolds this year against, Suh, Wilkerson, & Dareus, when we face the Dolphins, Jets, and Bills.
Coach Mason, had a great post a couple weeks back, on the virtues of Cooper, White, or Parker, joining our arsenal of receivers. Kiper (knock him if you want) has moved Perriman (UCF), into his top 10, along with the others, and Schreff is now #7.
Eric added a article about Cruz’s return could be our best acquisition, including quotes from doctors, of the odds against full recovery. I love Victor, I’m a Yankee, who married a beautiful woman from Venezuela. She couldn’t make me Salsa,…But Victor could, many a Sunday. I want to be wrong, but I fear a redux of our Steve Smith, of a few years ago, going from 100 plus catches to out of the league in 2 years, due to a leg injury. I fear our depth at WR, without him. I have lost faith in wRongway Reuben. I would have no problem with a WR at 9, but then we lose BPA at 40. IMO, we would be down to BPA OL at 40.
We all remember the Tyree Catch. But how often it is forgotten that on 4th, and 2 feet, Brandon, with arms wrapped around his ankles fell forward 2.5 feet, right up Snee’s ass, to keep the drive alive. We were so dismal at capitalizing on 3rd and 4th and short last year, we stopped trying.
9 is high for a probable guard, but, if Reese doesn’t love the WR sitting there, Give me the surest Offensive lineman, whether he is a Guard or not.

That would be incredibly shortsighted.

Talking to yourself, Joe? :)
Why not just stick with one handle and own it?
Here...have some cheese with your whine.

Bruce, it's remarkable.
You're 100% correct, save for this..When you state that a poster (Coach Mason) had a great post awhile ago on this and that Coach Mason is indeed YOU (Coach G), that is not cool..
It doesn't pay shit, the hours are long and a good share of the time is spent outside in inclement weather.
If I ever make up a false ID I want to be a retired orthopedic living out west. Or a jockey.
I'm torn between the two.

Amen! Try coaching in Canada, where outside of University ball, it's all volunteer. Oh, and you're guaranteed one snowy practice or game in October.
Besides a WR, they might not be too many in this draft worth the #9 pick. Neither QB is a given either so take what you can get. OL might still be better at #9 than other positions.
That's bold. And by the way, I like your conviction. Very difficult to compare BPA when you start measuring up lineman versus less than blue-chip position players like WRs and CBs.
Reese has shown thus weakness in the past so let's see if it continues or if he finds the right OL this year.
Just an opinion. I was on the Scherff bandwagon for a moment but the more I watch him, the better Collins looks.
Flowers looks to need a good bit of time to be NFL ready.
I feel the same way about the tweener DE/OLB edge rushers, most not worthy of 9 except for one which is most likely going top 5.
I see the proliferation of "Coach X" handles puffing each other as a tribute to you - albeit a sad and slightly creepy one.
