NFT: Should the Yankees Pay ARod the $6 mill bonus

section125 : 4/27/2015 7:45 am
when he hits number 660?

It is pretty apparent that the Yankees plan on fighting to not pay ARod's $6 million bonus for tying Willie Mays. I understand they were hoping for a huge marketing windfall from the hoopla that would have/should have happened when he caught Willie and subsequently Babe, Hank and Barry.

Do the Yanks still owe ARod the money in light of the Biogenesis scam and his suspension?

First, they offered this deal at a time when they already knew he was a confirmed PED user. Second, I don't care if these were officially performance bonuses or marketing bonuses, or whatever else. They were offered and agree upon with the sole purpose of paying him for the milestones reached. If they are no longer marketable that is their problem. I also think if he continues to play, the other milestone bonuses are more marketable, especially if he can pass Bonds (not likely).

Lastly, as some mentioned, not paying this money isn't going to help in keeping him focused, relaxed, and productive. Why would you want to fuck with your best hitter?

None of this is true. Also the clause is for marketing home runs they can join longer market.

I think you're ignoring how much the team likely despises the man with a passion. Why would they not? He was the one who started this fiasco eandeven came after them financially.

This proves my point though. Yankee fans defending this guy instead of the team. Yankee fans should hate this guy more than anyone.

Yankee fans should totally be on the side of Hal, Hank and Randy on this one.
Well they didn't turn him

there are far worse people in baseball

than Alex Rodriguez. I'll save my scorn for them. And if MLB won't express remorse for steroids in baseball, I'm not going to get on a player for not doing it either. I hope he continues to mash.
Yes

unless the Yankees intend on paying up front for every player.
Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, Mickey Mantle, and a shitload of other old

use hyperbole to describe someone in order to make your point, chances are you don't have a good point...

My question is why Yankee fans seem to defend the crown prince of steroid deception since the initial wave of McGuire, Sosa etc..

Btw, have you heard of a couple of guys named Melky and Ryan?
Ok I don't have a good point I guess.
SethFromAstoria : 4/27/2015 3:37 pm : link
I'm defending the Yankees and the reactions are all in defense of Arod. It's pretty insane but I guess that's the opinion here. Then a new question pops up when you compare Alex Rodriguez and his extensive story in all this to melky cabrera. I mean guys get caught cheating and get suspended, the end. This was like world War III with suits of doctors and unions and going on shows to lie to everyone one last time etc
..

Point is I don't need hyperbole for you to go back and read everything about Arod. That's why I'm completely confused why I'm defending the Yankees while Yankee fans defend Arod. Like he's some sort of sad figure that needs defending for his honor and money. I mean he earned all of his money by inflating numbers anyway.
I'm not sure it's defending A-Rod to say the Yanks should pay
BeerFridge : 4/27/2015 4:13 pm : link
what they agreed to pay a guy they had to know was juicing.

I guess it is probably defending A-Rod that he's paid the biggest penalty of anyone who was caught doing steroids. At some point, you just have to move on from this steroid shit.

We don't know who else besides A-Rod did steroids. Remember, he never actually tested positive.
the contract
Csonka : 4/27/2015 5:31 pm : link
Either the entire contract should be voided or you paid all of the clauses. You don't get to decide that you don't want to market his home run records now.

Seth you need to quit quibbling with us Yankee fans about A-Rod and save your venom for upcoming Rangers threads for whichever pile of scum we end up playing. Stakes are going up, we need everyone's A game
I'm worried...

if the Yankees don't pay him the bonus, how will they re-sign him when his current contract expires?
