Yes 11 inch hands. He's a monster. Steal of the draft. After listening to KWALL, Sy & JonC I watched everything I could find. Would have taken him at 9 assuming he was healthy.
With his build, power and hand striking and a little bit Osi with his get off and speed. Robert Ayers may have some competition for that inside DE at DT role, I'm very very excited.
RE: RE: just saying the guy is a major risk..I would have taken tank johnson Â

What? Tank Johnson?
And no it doesn't. DaMonster is still very much in the plan. This adds competition and remember, JPP is just signed for this year, as is Ayers and Selvie. You could have DaMonster over the LT and Odighizuwa over the RT as the starting DEs in two years.
I'm sure the Giants were unhappy with Stray and Osi when they took Justin Tuck in the 3rd too, right? Jeepers Rich, take a Valium and STFU
and still managed to have the 2nd fastest 40yd dash behind Fowler, the 2nd fastest 10 yd split out of all DE's, 2nd best vert leap 39, and 2nd best Long jump 10'7", imagine fully healthy??! His combine numbers where impresses!
How did you get to know so much from the Giants out on the West Coast?
A: It may sound weird, but I just love football. It’s just something that I like to study to get better as a player. When I tell you that the Giants’ defensive line inspired me as a player, it’s no joke. The way they played is really what sparked my thirst for wanting to be better as a d-lineman.
I remember in college watching the year Osi Umenyiora had six sacks against the Philadelphia Eagles. I watched his highlights over and over again. I watched his drills that he did with the d-line coach who coaches guys out of Atlanta. There was a video of him on YouTube and I was watching it over and over again. I was doing every drill that he did. The list goes on and on.
I was watching Michael Strahan and how he plays. I studied everything about the Giants defensive line. I studied Jason Pierre-Paul the year he went off. They know their defensive line.
UCLA played a three-four defense, so Owa was always rushing on the inside. He mainly tried to overpower the guards or tackles against him. But, I have to tell you, he was not as productive as you would hope, I think this was a combination of scheming against him and perhaps his inability to do the job all the time. He did collect many sacks and hurries but could have done better. I know all this from living in the Bay Area and watching UCLA games on Pac 12 network and others.
Three hip surgeries are a big concern. He certainly slipped because of that so there is something to real there. If that is in the past though, this is another good need pick.

But apparently most coaches looked at his current hip health as no big deal.
He wouldn't have been there at this spot if it wasn't a big deal. Â
What a fxking joke. Enjoy Andre Williams for 1 yard. Horse shit

Seriously. Nobody cares. Kill yourself.
Just a tad over the top. "Kill yourself"? I hope you were drunk.
Either way, you owe an apology to the membership here. There's simply no need for that kind of personal attack. If you don't like someone, then ignore them. But the vitrio and personal attacks on BBI have reached a disturbing level. The lack of social skills demonstrated by some people is just amazing.
his surgeries were in 2013 and he played a full year in 2014 with no problems, I have little to no concerns..
Bb56 - could you elaborate? In fact, I suggest you start a new thread with your thoughts on Odi's hip problems.
I wrote up a thread on Odi's injury history back in March. I wanted to bump it due to its relevance, but you can no longer do that with archived threads on BBI.
This time yesterday I said that if the Giants first two picks were Flowers and Odi I would be ecstatic. To get him in the 3rd is unbelievable. This could be Justin Tuck part 2. I love this draft.
about Odighizuwa is he was used almost exclusively as a 34DE at UCLA. Nobody really has any idea how good he can be as a 43DE, which is definitely his best position.
I watched an special on the 05 draft with some stuff on Tuck dropping and I thought of Odi. The big mystery is the hip. IMO, that can be the only reason Odi (like Tuck and his knee) dropped to round 3.
Odi, if he stays healthy, will be one of the best players in this draft and a 3rd round steal.
At the end of this past season, he was kicking ass with a complete game and versatility that will work in the NFL. He plays hard and will be an instant fan favorite.
For me, he's a bigger and faster Trent Cole. Plays his ass off. He's a great fit for the NYG. Spags will use him like he used Tuck and move him inside on passing downs. He will have an impact on passing downs from the inside. I have no doubt about this.
He also has a lot of potential as an edge rusher because of his quickness and power. He gets off the ball fast and Odi is extremely powerful with strong hands.
He will be very productive as a rookie. They will find a role for him early on. I expect him to be one of the top defensive players from this draft.
Love the pick. Love the player. Thrilled he is on the NYG. Getting the OL early in round 1 and now Odi, makes the draft for me.
At the SR Bowl, he kicked ass in one on one pass rush drills against the top players there.
He explodes with power. He can spin back inside. He plays hard. Long arms. Huge hands. And a truly elite athlete at 270 lbs. He'll give us a pass rush from inside and at DE.
Agreed I wanted Odi in the 2nd and I wasn't the biggest fan of the Collins pick because i wanted Odi or Preston Smith there. To get Odi in the 3rd makes me absolutely fine with the Collins pick. Anything that the Giants do today is just gravy at this point.
With Odi added and the past draft choices over the last 2 years. What kind of potential does this line have w/ Odi, JPP, Hankins, and Moore? Do you feel Moore and Hankins have made good progress over the last 2 years?
Has it all together. I'll take another year like last year from him. Moore still has a lot of work to do vs the run. He looks to me like a situational pass rusher which is fine.
I like Odi to be the starter as a rookie. He's a beast vs the run. Slide him inside on some passing downs.
Our run D will be much better with Odi and Ellis.
One guy who could be key is Bromley. We spent a 3rd on him. We need to see what he has next season. Wouldn't it be great if Bromley steps up next season?
he's been working hard in the off season and he seems to know exactly what he needs to do to get better. we knew coming in that pass-rushing was his strength - I see know reason to think he won't be able to bring up his run stopping skills.
and I think Ellis will be better in a 4-3, he's going to be a lot harder to block, especially next to Hankins
That's what I love about all these picks, they all help our run game in some way. Flowers is a run blocking behemoth. Collins is a 228lb powerhouse at the in-the box safety position. And Odi projects as a strong run-stuffing DE who can kick it inside at times.
Odi is a guy I would've been happy at 9 if there was no hip issue. He's a guy that I would've loved at 40. To get him in the 3rd round is awesome. I hope his hip is ok, because if he's healthy our DL just got a lot better.
Thanks Big Rick. Can't imagine hands that big!
- Brett
I wish the Giants had kept Tuck to teach and mentor both JPP and ODI.
It will be a challenge for Spags to coach these guys up.

This draft is filling needs!
Thankfully we didn't have to suffer the indignation of taking Ereck Flowers with Kevin White still on the board.
And what if we had? Oh the indignity of taking a stud OL when we already have a #1 WR! THE HORRORS!
GO GIANTS!!!
YeAH BABY!!!
WOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
Absolutely agree with this. If his hips are OK (who knows?), this could be the best of the first three picks.

I am thrilled with this draft. They could draft shepherdsam and Davisian next and Id still be happy with it!

I cannot believe they landed this guy in the 3rd.
I can't believe how fortunate we fans are with this little haul. This will be JPPs replacement if he walks. Odi can play the run pretty well.
Perfect bloodlines for getting after Romo & whatever other clowns we face at QB.

if ayers makes it back healthy we've got a 4 Aces of
JPP-ayers-odi-Moore
that can cause some problems up front for a slow-footed or short-armed offensive line.
Who knows what we have in Moore yet? If you see him in person, he looks like a LB.
I like Odi to be the starter as a rookie. He's a beast vs the run. Slide him inside on some passing downs.

If Odi's pans out you will need to change your username to Osi Odi Osi Odi Oyoyoy
