Agree with Eric on this. Very happy with first three picks. However, not so much with losing the 2 picks to move up for Collins.
We were forced to do so because of the position Reese left us in after not resigning Rolle or Brown and/or failing to bring in at least one outside free agent. Can't fathom this total lack of action, especially knowing there were few decent safeties available in the draft and of those even fewer "free" safety types.
Don't disagree with any of these decisions separately, but collectively they left us up against the wall in the second round. It forced the move up (which I agree with), since there were other teams ahead of us hot after Collins. However, no matter how good he is, we now have zero experienced safeties. Kind of an unforced error in my opinion. Cost us shots at another OL,DT,CB,LB or RB.
Also don't even begin to fathom Thompson in the fifth.
Living in San Antonio where he's from and watching UT ball just don't see it. Probably a ST'er at best and most likely an UFA but for the Giants.
Each year we always seem to overvalue a player other teams/draft guru's don't see the merit in. Really hope I am wrong, but our history says otherwise on this.
We'll see in a few years, but Reese, Ross, and the scouts have a pretty poor track record with late round picks in recent years.

Agree, especially about their track record with day three picks. Thought the Thompson pick was a big reach, but Davis is at least a big bodied receiver with excellent hands. Might not get a lot of separation, but can go over the middle.
Unless, the high ankle sprain he had really fooled other team scouts.
Seattle took some chances but when they do they go after some high risk reward players such as Kristjan Sokoli the upside is huge.
The Giant's seem to give away picks. It is almost as if they are not prepared for the later rounds.
Instead it seems like they trust the scouts more than the production. Or erasing production in favor of measurables which should be a no no. That's how guys like Aaron Donald can get rated lower on someones board.
Harvards not accepting people with a 2.3 gpa most likely because they have potential. But that's what seems to be happening.
