Without picking up a high round WR, and the uncertainty around Cruz's knee, I think the Coach Staff and Reese think Corey Washington is ready to contribute in some way or form (and yes I know we signed a WR in the offseason).
since he'll have a full season and a year with the training program under his belt. He's got to show that he's acquired some NFL skills he lacked when he came in. But just as Coughlin stuck with Cruz because he saw talent, they seem to see talent in Washington and are sticking with him. Let's hope he pans out big time.
think Washington is going to surprise, and make the roster. His complaints last year about not playing shouldn't have been made, but he came very far as a UDFA rookie from a small school to just make the team.
Giants drafted a big WR who excels on special teams. I think that is a shot across Washington's bow. He's going to have to make the team playing specials, which he didn't do last year. If Geremy Davis shows he can be a red zone (or slot) threat during preseason and plays well on specials (like he did at UCONN) Washington is long gone.
I've posted this before, but in case it was missed
TC was pretty vocal last season that CW wasn't demonstrating enough command in practice, including a lack of command of the route tree, blocking assignments, etc. Then, his public whining late season demonstrating he doesn't get why he doesn't play.
This is common stuff, btw, it's a big leap to the NFL
But I have more faith in Soup. Randle could do what we need from Corey as can Donnell, while Soup i'd think would be a perfect compliment as a sure handed possession WR. Both have to do it on the field still, but here's to hoping they do
Weapons even if Cruz isnt 100% to start the season ,
With the addition of Vereen and Harris the emergence
of Donnell .Then M Harris and Washington showed some
promise . OBJ seemed to Light a Fire under Randle IMO.
The run game with all healthy should be vastly
improved . I don't think WR was has high a need as
the O-line and Safety position .
A slightly better schedule some luck and good health
10-6 is very realistic .
can do, maybe Washington can to. He seems to have the ability. If he's worked hard it will show at camp. I hope he's good enough to give Randle a nervous feeling to motivate him to improve.

I posted essentially the same thought on another thread. It was the quote about having the "right attitude" to play Specials that caught my eye. Agree with you completely.
people are forgetting about dwayne harris + preston parker. both are excellent blockers from the slot position which is a requirement in this offense. if u look at the contract harris got i think it's clear the team will play him on offense. and eli always mentions parker
big push this offseason to increase roster flexibility and special teams.
Harris, both LBs, Collins, Owa, Thompson and the WR are all specifically mentioned as doing well and liking to play special teams. Even Flowers will block on FG, Points After and punts.
And I suspect the emphasis on team captains and hard workers is a shift away from tolerance of the immature and prima-donnas. Washington needs to be careful and work and maybe even Moore needs to realize he may be further down the depth chart to Wynn and Owa.
I still feel like we are very thin at. WR. I see only one player and if Beckham gets injured I think we are in big trouble. Cruz is questionable and everyone else is JAG
Clearly it did not. Hopefully a learning curve due to a small school.
