Murphy has always been a "Giants" type of guy for 3B and McGehee is predictably reverting off his performance last year. Wonder if this couple weeks is a semi-showcase?
an off day on Monday. Sort of a weird decision coming off the heels of the Sandy Alderson comment about preaching patience and the importance of Flores understanding the Mets have confidence in him.
Lord, I'd hate to have to look to the Mets for confidence b/c they have a funny way of showing it.
Even prior to last nights game the said Tejada would get the start Â
Flores is under would be effected by being benched for possibly three days. I don't think that's outlandish.
This isn't to say that he doesn't deserve time to cool off. But you can't preach patience and confidence and then take this type of action. The Mets have perfected the art of double-speak.
These guys have been playing ball their entire lives. Siting in order to let another guy get a few swings and not get stale in the bench is not something dramatic and earth shattering to them. If this would really throw him he probably wouldn't even be major league material. I think you are worrying about nothing at this point. He will be fine with this, and very well may get the opportunity to drive in some runs as pinch hitter.
Listen, I really don't feel like getting into another Flores Â
discussion nor am I "worrying" about it, lol. I know where you stand and you know where I stand.
I don't see Collins sitting other players in this cold lineup to keep bench players "fresh." He certainly wasn't benching Murphy at all when he sucked at the plate AND in the field. Flores is treated differently and it's not hard to see. And, please, you don't sit Flores for two days before an off day because you want to keep bench players fresh...that's a silly comment. You know darn well why Flores is sitting.
I just thought to mention it because of the BS Alderson comment about patience and confidence. My problem is with the double-speak, not the action. I'm sure Flores will be fine. But it's definitely mixed signals. And I'm willing to bet that any player would pick up on that.
Just to clarify...Collins obviously sits players to give Â
and was just having a conversation Grandy is sitting tonight as well and out of curiosity checked and entering this game Murphy has only one more game starts than Flores, it happens. I honestly don't view it as a big deal but fine lets just drop it.
It's up to Murphy now

LOL...nope
Agressiveness may have gotten the better of us tonight. Hard to complain because I like agressive players but you also have to be smart.
on top of Matz's last 2 gems feeling good in spite of the 1-0 loss
