NYG 1st draft pick and next player selected at same position

Not a perfect indicator for evaluating our Front Office draft ability but interesting none-the-less

Eli Manning-Phil Rivers
Corey Webster-Ronnie Bartell
Pugh- Kyle Long
Nicks- Kenny Britt
JPP -Derrick Morgan
OBJ- Brandin Cooks
Prince -Jimmy Smith
David Wilson-Isiah Pead (wilson was very talented but a freak injury should not be counted against Reese in terms of grading the talent)
Kenny Phillips-Tyrell Johnson- Again Kenny showed plenty of talent but injuries derailed his career
Aaron Ross-Chris Houston
Kiwinuka-Daryll Tapp
Flowers- Peat (????)

Point is when NYG targets a certain position/player they usually make the right choice. I am wondering about Flowers over Peat but do think Flowers has the higher upside just might not be better right away.
Good pos - during the draft evaluation process

guys get bunched together and for fans the draft value seems better with the guy obtained later. Performance value isn't nearly as similar and it's a big reason why there are some orgs that never trade down and always take the guys they like better (Steelers being 1 example).
Some might argue....

...that Kyle Long and Jimmy Smith have been better than Pugh and Prince. I haven't watched enough of those two to have an opinion, but I think the Lions and Ravens are happy with their choices.
That's interesting info

though of course there are other positions available, too.

Long plays for the Bears. he was also drafted as a OG and Pugh as an OT
as you say, it is a weak measure

rather, factor in -all- the subsequent picks at those positions, think about that different teams use named positions differently, and stop with injury excuses (example, KP- was what he was, certainly not a bad player, but one could argue value both ways, prior to any injuries)
Nobody can argue

That Tyrell Johnson was better then Phillips.
