The sexy answer is fit them in but I think after losing Wheeler he's going to be very slow to give up this depth. I'd look to deal to Niese and move Gee to the pen though.
Best pitching prospect in baseball is Urias. He's a truly phenom, truly incredible. Thor and Matz are elite pitching prospects no doubt, but Urias is A1 right now.
Career 168.2 innings 121 hits 209 k's 2.45 era

Animal.
I'm starting to get a strong whiff of "bust" from Dom Smith. Would love to be proven wrong obviously.
Little of both. Still think his upside is a non-tool version of Tejada ie his tools play up thanks to plus effort and baseball IQ but never a guy you pencil in as a "plus". Good glove, not great, average speed, limited power, solid contact skills. I prefer Reynolds if I'm picking between the 2.
I think that's a 5-game hitting streak for Becerra. Go get 'em Wuillmer !!
I kept hearing Tomas Nido's name during that Charleston/Savannah series....does this Low-A Catcher have any kind of upside ??

Nido was considered a tough sign but he signed pretty quickly. Hasn't hit like people expected. Still pretty young but not really on the radar anymore either (was supposed to be a big power guy yet 5 homers in 145 career games). Still worth monitoring and throwing has been surprisingly strong this year.
Martinez writes that his toe was hurt and that Manager Willie Randolph had told him he was done for the season. But, he said, Wilpon, now the Mets’ chief operating officer, wanted to sell tickets for a matchup against the star Marlins left-hander Dontrelle Willis. Martinez said he protested the order and offered to give back the rest of his contract.
“While I’m the boss here, you’re going to have to do what I say,” Wilpon said, according to Martinez, who gave in and pitched. He lost the game, which drew 25,093 fans, and said the injury prolonged the toe problem. Other parts of his body broke down the next season, and Martinez was inactive for the Mets’ run to Game 7 of the 2006 National League Championship Series.
“I couldn’t help but think about how when I was healthy in 2005, our team wasn’t that good,” Martinez writes. “But as my health declined, I was urged to pitch a meaningless game at the end of 2005 that wound up shortening my recovery time for 2006 and led me to a hospital where doctors performed a three-hour arthroscopic procedure to repair my shoulder.”
Pretty sure a similar situation happened to Carlos Beltran.
Guy knows absolutely nothing about running a baseball team. It's pathetic.
If Lil' Jeffy wants to be the Boss, let him monkey around with the Brooklyn Cyclones.

Regardless of if/when a pitcher gets hurt, they all have a finite number of bullets. Foolish to waste them in the minors once they're ready. You can not under any circumstance

keep Major League ready pitchers firing bullets in the Minor Leagues. If you believe that a pitcher has only x amount of pitches in his arm over a career, every pitch you throw in AAA could be thrown against say the Cubs. Alderson can not let young talent waste away, he has to do something and buying time is not one of them
Sweet. Could be nice depth eventually.

With awful reports on his body (fatter than last season) and he's been HORRENDOUS in those 13 games. He's a 1b. He has to MASH or he's literally a nobody. He has nowhere else to go.
.188/.235/.208 with 12 k's in 48 ab's. HORRENDOUS.
I'm sure he'll have another shot next year with starting time/ABs but literally zero to be excited about from this kid so far.

What's worse is he actually was sent to "fat camp" before last season so clearly his body has been a concern for a while.

Not supporting Jeff Wilpon, but if you read that article Pedro sort of backs off those claims and takes the blame himself.
“Pedro was always a great competitor and deserving of being in the Hall of Fame,” the statement said. “This particular excerpt in the book is false as those kinds of decisions have always been put in the hands of our baseball people.”
Martinez said in the interview that he did not blame Wilpon.
“When you’re going to get hurt, you’re going to get hurt,” he said. “I don’t have anybody to blame but probably myself for not listening to my body. I think I was brave to pitch games, but I think I took it to extremes that day.”
Martinez was 32-23 with a 3.88 earned run average in 79 starts for the Mets over four seasons. He stressed that he enjoyed “every aspect” of playing for the Mets.
“I was paid to pitch, so I went and did that,” he said. “I did it whenever you asked me, whenever I could. I wanted to do it for as long as I could, and that was my limit.”

Told 3 catchers likely & team wants to add LH to bench. Suppose that doesn't bode well for Soup. Makes sense to drop reliever for week, tho.

Horrendous!!! Yes!!! And an 0-4 day at the plate is also horrendous!!! Omg! Lol. Just busting your balls man but seriously it's 13 games. He's barely played this year yet. A week-two into the season Reynolds, Nimmo, Herrera, Syndergaard, Lagares, Murphy, Flores, Granderson were also HORRENDOUS. I was leading the charge here all offseason in being disappointed about the weight reports and then I saw him in spring training and he didn't look over weight at all. He actually looked fine. Obviously this year is a big year for him, but he gets more than 13 games before he starts feeling my rath. ;)
I choose to believe Pedro, and not Jeff's sanitized version of the incident.
Pedro's interview with the Sports Pope was a fascinating look back at his full career. He explained in detail many of the circumstances that he will be remembered for. It is a great interview and well worth the listen on an night off.

they're batting .313 and .345 respectively.
And after Nimmo's slow start, that's pretty incredible.
TJ Rivera is batting .383, that dude just rakes. I know he's old and a non-prospect, but the numbers are eye-popping the past two+ years. People talk about unsustainable BABIP, he's the counter-argument. and it's not like he's playing in Vegas
Nimmo is raking. Im pretty sure we were talking about him having a slow start a week ago.
2. Jeff has an awful reputation and has been suspected of leaking info numerous times over the past few years (not looking to play "insider" but he leaked stuff about Einhorn once they wanted to get out of the deal they agreed to with him) and have also heard numerous other similar instances. The Tulo rumors for example fit him to a "T" and we've heard a few times they pushed Sandy to guarantee the 4th year for Granderson.
I'm sure he fears stepping on Alderson's toes because of how universally respected he is in comparison to the Wilpons, but most of the step back is self interest. No Met fan should be at all comfortable with the reality that Jeff will be there long after Sandy.

Thats somewhat true but you're basically assuming he will act up again and he really hasn't for years now and its clear as day Fred sat Jeffrey boy down and told him to let "baseball people handle the baseball activities" That has literally been the company line for some time now including this Pedro thing. You can't tell me this wasn't a concentrated effort here.
Yes if Sandy and company left the organization there's a chance Jeff could resort to his old tactics but its just as likely he learned from his past mistakes as well. Neither is right or wrong and we won't know until we know.
I'm not saying he has no chance at a major league career, but when guys make their debut at 28 they're not prospects

He's a little old sure. deGrom was 26 last year too. Im not saying this guy is one of our top 25 or anything. Id certainly put him in our top 50 though and if he keeps hitting like this you bet he'll be moving up further. He's not on the 40 because he doesn't need to be yet.
Guys like him and Mazilli are going to have a hard time cracking in but who knows.
