NFT: new sedan suggestions

Les in TO : 5/4/2015 9:20 am
Our 2004 altima has some serious rusting in the front engine cradle area, cracked ball joints and a whole bunch of other minor but annoying issues...even though i just drive it within a 3 mile radius most days, i don't want to take a chance with a toddler in the back seat.

so we are looking to replace it with another sedan. just used for shorter city trips, minimal "interstate" driving.

we have an equinox as our other vehicle and it has been reliable comfortable and spacious enough to date as our main car/lugging strollers and other baby stuff around.

lease and finance rates are attractive and the used vehicle market is in tight supply so will be looking at new vehicles in the 20-25 range.

any thoughts/reccos?
3 mile radius?

Why not look at an EV, like Leaf or others. No gas, no oil changes...
Assuming that you want the same size

Can't go wrong with either of those. Of course with the Legacy, you get the added benefit of Subaru's AWD system.
Honda Accord

Toyota Camry, Acura TLX (though might be out of that range).

reliable, affordable (the first two at least), and hold their resale value

KIA Optima or Mazda 5, KIA is starting to get a good reputation

Absolutely love it. What a great car.
i am in a 3 year lease with acura

and many have told me that they will want the car back in year two or so. they want if for their certified pre-owned. the dealer mentioned this too.

had a caddy cts 3 year lease and tried getting out of it 6 months prior. the car was well under the miles and looked new. but the buyout was crazy and everyone dealer/brand I went to said they don't hold their value like acura, lexus, and infiniti. I would of paid tons of money which I obviously would not do and just ride out the lease.

Careful. Some of those offers are actually rolling costs from your old lease into your new one.
yeah

well if you compare the offers of the car your targeting then after you present your lease, should be pretty obvious I know a few that have rolled in payments on a lease. not smart.
Echo the Legacy

We have had two of them on lease and loved them. We are still driving our 2001 Forester. The AWD is great. I rarely worry about having to get somewhere in bad weather.
