Who is Doug Farrar of SI?!?

sb from NYT Forum : 5/4/2015 2:21 pm
This is less of a complaint about how he grades the Giants draft, more of a complaint about how sports news outlets will throw anybody out there, no matter how poor or contradictory their analysis is.

Farrar gives the Giants a "C" grade because he thinks Flowers was the 7th best(?!) OT in the draft. He had 4th round pick TJ Clemmings as mid first rounder, so this guy really knows his stuff, right?

Meanwhile, he gives the Bengals a "B" for drafting Ogbuehi, despite ranking him below 7 other OTs. So real consistent there.

I know these grades are silly, but this guy is all over the place.

Not that I agree with him but..

It's his opinion and he is entitled to it.

What do you expect?

And why are you reading that archaic publication?
he's actually one of the better draft guys

and the reason for the higher grade for Ogbuehi is because he was drafted 12 picks later.

Whatever.

was not there at 9 is the consensus ... mid or early teens but given the value gained in rds 2 & 3 the slight overpay in 1 was recouped and then some .... We did very well overall in the premium pick rounds.

This idea that we didn't get "value" with Flowers is such rubbish. Mayock had him mocked #10 to STL, and was a riser.

People splitting hairs here. Who gives a shit if a guy goes #9 or #14.

Does anyone really think Flowers goes lower than #13 or 14?
And concensus by who? Mel Kiper?

The 1000s of draft "experts"?

There are only 32 experts in the NFL.
Yes, I understand that the Bengals drafted later than the Giants
sb from NYT Forum : 5/4/2015 3:43 pm : link
...however, if the Giants get a lousy grade because, in his opinion, many better tackles were still on his board, then why give the Bengals a better grade when there are sill the same number of "better" tackles on his board?

That's what I mean by inconsistency.

I don't see how that's possible when literally I have come across about 15 mocks and 10 or more of them had Flowers going top ten top 15. The other 5 had Flowers going top 22 or so...

Now all of a sudden it's bad value? I don't get it...

Not that the mocks matter but Flowers was in a lot of top tens pre draft. See for yourself.

I have dont have him as a #9 overall talent ... and many people didnt view him as a #9 overall talent ... But based on our needs it was him or Peat .... or OL is "soft" and with that he is the better pick .... trading down would have been ideal but what idf we trade down and then we get leap-frogged I dont mind the pick I am just saying why the grade it taking a hit initially.....
