Assuming Collins is not involved in the murder of his ex girlfriend and assuming the Jets would deal Wilkerson, who would you prefer?
I would love Wilkerson to be paired with Hankins and I would love to add Collins to our young talent on the OL.
Tough call... but I have to go with the big DT. I hope Reese is talking to the Jets to see what it would take to land Wilkerson.
Otoh, Wilk is a young all-pro..Collins hasn't taken a snap..I'd give up a 3 and a 5 for him...But that's just me
great insurance incase the giants cant get a deal done by week1 with jpp (but im hopeful they can) odi is raw and wilkerson would be able to step in week1 and play opposite jpp with odi taking rotational snaps and working his way in as the season progresses could be the makings of the nascar package version 2 for spags if they could snag him
Collins is a more realistic fit within the cap and on the roster. However, I think the Giants want to go into 2015 with as few distractions as possible and get ready for a run. Remember, the entire coaching staff is on notice this year. No playoffs mean Coughlin is gone. And if Coughlin is gone, a new coach comes in and will likely clean house. They don't need to be in the middle of a media circus with a murder. The Giants are at their best when they fly under the radar. Let Chip's craziness keep everyone's attention. We know that Jerruh will be good for a bunch of dumb things said during camp. And RGIII is his own side show. The Giants have Flowers, they are getting healthy on the offensive line, let them just settle in and go from there in year 2 of McAdoo.
Jon, wasn't the main reason Idzik said he spent no money last year was because he knew he was going to have to pay Wilkerson and others?
Victor Cruz did not come from the Jets. He was signed by the Giants the day after the 2010 draft.

Cruz went undrafted in the 2010 NFL Draft and was signed the day after the draft by the New York Giants.
2010 season[edit]
In a preseason game against the New York Jets on August 16, 2010, Cruz helped the Giants win 31-16 by catching 6 passes for 145 yards and 3 touchdowns. He would finish the preseason leading the NFL with 297 receiving yards, tied for the preseason lead with 4 touchdown catches, and was selected to the Giants' 53-man regular season roster. Cruz played in five games at the start of the season, before a hamstring injury placed him on injured reserve for the remainder of the year.

Except sounding like "A," as in "neighbor" or "weigh."
Collins could be an NFL bust.
Wilkerson is a great NFL player. The only possible question, and it is relatively minor, has to do with the transition from 3-4 DE (although the Jets move him around on passing downs) to 4-3 DT. You could project him as a 4-3 LDE, but he would lack the beat OT out of his stance pure speed rush.
