He believes it to be the Jets.
First: I really pay little attention to what most talking heads say about any team, especially the ones I root for.
because I have found that 9 times out of 10 they know less about my team than I do, (David Diehl would of course be part of the 10%).
Secondly: Criticism about my team does not bother me, because
I often am the biggest critic.
However, since I only caught the end of his comments and missed his rationale I was curious how he made this determination.
The Jets were equally bad as the Giants last year, and they still have Geno Smith as their qb.
Did anyone hear his comments and rationale, just curious.
And OBJ. Would love to hear his rationale.
It's hard to tell. The Giants and Jets should be pretty close in record this year.

Jets had a top defense for years. And not to long ago an average offense. Does that mean he thought the Jets were a better team even when he was a Giant?
Todd Bowles has a pretty good idea about how to coach defense. I don't think they're going to miss a beat.

The Jets will have a top 3 defense this year. They basically have everything but the QB.. which is obviously the worst spot to have a question mark.

The Jets were better than the Giants in 2009 and had a better year in 2010.
It's not like they haven't been better than us in decades. Both teams have been mostly shitty the last few years so there's not much to go by since.
This is sort of a rite of passage from athlete to media in a way.
I don't agree with him that there's "no question" but I wouldn't be stunned if the Jets were slightly better. Eli Manning over Geno Smith is a massive advantage in the Giants' favor though.
They still have a long way to go offensively to convince me that they are the better team.
Harrison - is sometimes the biggest Pats homer or Pats hater. So there is some truth to it.
The RBs are average and the OL while still solid is on the way down, not on the way up.
And then you have GEno Smith. The Jets are solid, but they will need to play error free near perfect football when they play the good teams with good QBs. I think they are an 8-9 win team--10 if everything breaks right.
Giants are more boom or bust. They have the QB, WRs and the OL is better but may need to time to band together. However, in addtion to the QB and passing game in general, the Giants have something on offense the Jets do not have and that's continuity. Giants D has less question marks than people think in my view. IT won't be great but it should be average at worst.
I'd rather own the Giants right now even if you told me the Jets would win more games in 2015.

*might* have a very good defense this year. but they also waved goodbye to rex ryan who, like him or not, might be the best defensive coach in the league. i wouldn't assume they will keep the same pace without him

Yup
Now that blowhard Rex is gone, I will probably pull for the Jets except when it's not in the Giant's interest.
The 2014 Arizona Cardinals disagree.
SomeFan - agree, though think your assessment of the QB is a bit generous; if lightbulbs have not gone off in his head during and after his second season, time to cut bait, imo, and Jets' pick of the QB in 4th could be really interesting
The Giants won 3 of their last 4 games, and in their last 7 games the 4 losses were all by 8 points or less.
I get the whole "you are what you're record says you are" mantra, but I don't in any way feel like the 2014 Giants were a worse team than the 2013 edition. The 2013 Giants were absolutely pathetic, and won some games against some teams that trotted out quarterbacks who rarely if ever see game action. 2014 and all of the 6 wins felt like an improvement over 2013, which goes to show how truly far the Giants had fallen 2 years ago.
As bad as the Giants were, once Beckham went on his tear the team seemed competitive overall. I don't ever feel good about walking away with a loss, but that second Philly loss felt like night and day improvement for the Giants offense(WRs/Olnie in particular) over the first Philly game. There was no question the offense made huge strides in 2014, it was the defense which dropped off a cliff. The reality is that Giants are not a deep enough roster to expect to remain competitive while sustaining the number of injuries they've sustained the past two seasons. 91 games lost to starters a season ago, 4 games lost by 8 points or less. Yes injuries are part of the game, but that many injuries to an already thin roster is a recipe for a 6-10 season.
