Odgidhizuwa most complete front seven player in the draft

Archer : 5/14/2015 6:13 pm
The attached is a rather lengthy analysis of edge rushers in general and a detailed rational as to why Owa is the best front seven prospect in the draft.

"What if I told you that the most complete front-seven player in this draft class played in Los Angeles?
Not too controversial of a statement, really. USC defensive lineman Leonard Williams is viewed almost unanimously as not only the top defensive player in the draft, but the best player regardless of position. Williams might not even be the best defensive prospect in his own city, however. And that’s not necessarily a slight on him as much as it is praise for the exceptional talent of UCLA’s Owa Odgidhizuwa."

the guy too but leonard williams was hands down the best front 7 in the draft and it isn't close
Fun writeup and time will tell

He did his homework and certainly shared his POV.

Not a writeup for those with ADHD.

Good write-up but

I have to wonder if the author got his last name through his family or did he earn it?

I think the Giants got a real good player if his little hips are OK. He has some really powerful legs to get up and drive into a lineman if needed.
Great value in the third

.. he's got some work to do on passing downs. But we have someone that at the very least can set the edge.

I searched for "Beckham" on his site to see if they wrote about about him last year. They did.
Maybe they know what they're talking about - ( New Window )

more critiquing then praise in that article. Basically says he's very strong but everything else needs work.
I really like Waldman...

subscribe to his RSP channel and only wish I had more time to review film.

I've been a football fan for a long time and don't get the opportunity to learn from knowledgeable guys often enough. Most guys who want to talk football don't have the kind of insight that scouts have. The videos he makes where he and someone else breaks down the tape of a player over and over again are pretty cool for a guy like me. I always feel like I'm learning something.
How awesome would it be
Jay on the Island : 5/14/2015 9:26 pm : link
if Odi stays healthy and reaches his potential and DaMontre Moore stops making mental errors and plays discipline football? The Giants would have found two excellent potentially starting, if JPP moves on, DE's in the 3rd round.
I've followed Waldman for a while

He's pretty good. I posed a video a little while ago where he spent an hour analyzing Owa.

Well, since the Giants weren't even considering him for their 2nd

rounder, per Reese, they certainly don't agree with the article.

Agree^^^. More people here should check out those film room episodes before becoming so cock sure that Kiper, McShay, Boylehart or anyone else is so right in their opinion.

Yeah but good odds the hip surgeries are a big part of the reason for that. He was off some teams' boards altogether because of those surgeries.
Bluelou raised the surgery issues ....

I have a friend (work friend) that graduated from UCLA (covers UCLA like a blanket). So, of course I asked about this guy - he said "if he can stay healthy - you guys got a steal"

Who knows .... Justin Tuck was a 3rd round pick? And, Mark Bavaro was a 4th round pick? .... both because of injuries.

It is all a crap shoot - fingers crossed.

I think we drafted him cause we saw he was healthy. I think he plays as a rookie due to his ST's abilities and rotates in a bit here and there early and more as the season progresses possibly.
He did "well"
Randy in CT : 5/15/2015 7:49 am : link
rushing from everywhere in a 3-4. With his speed, I'm looking forward to seeing him play in a 4-3 and moving him around. If he is or isn't the best in the draft remains to be seen and arguing about it at this point is fruitless.
lol all u guys actually like the demolition man cops

facing teams with less than stellar guards
idiotsavant : 5/15/2015 9:46 am : link
I could see Hankins on the strong side at DE with both O.O. and J.P.P. on the inside (3's?) for a few downs here and there. you know where the mike is heading in that set up, right up the middle, as the center slides to help vs. either OO or JPP

we have a number of ends that can play weak side DE, contain run and rush, in such a line,

or a 5 line w/the extra man on the weak side.

it would present a situation that most teams will not have faced, high quality athletics on the inside.

If someone could translate this, I'd appreciate it?
If you read the whole article they go on to say he does not
Curtis in VA : 5/15/2015 9:53 am : link
make a good traditional 4-3 DE.

Quote:
J: He’s weird. He can play pretty much everything except traditional 4-3 end.

E: Yeah, you’ve convinced me on that. He’s probably not winning off a regular alignment where he’s just slightly outside shade of the offensive tackle. You’ve either gotta move him in or out.

You have to read through the whole thing, not just the good stuff in the beginning.
I can't wait to see Odi in a 4-3 Defense
Jay on the Island : 5/15/2015 9:54 am : link
His main responsibility in a 3-4 was to occupy blockers and often times would be double teamed. Now he is likely to be one on one and will line up over guards to take advantage of his athleticism.
