Deflategate Texts were about wieght gain!

nicky43 : 5/15/2015 7:41 am
In the most ridiculous explanation of anything I've ever heard is the story that now these deflategate texts were not about the footballs but about weight loss. So, I guess we can stick a needle in our belly buttons and just let out a little weight. LOL! Seriously ridiculous and actually this lame story is a bigger crime and a bigger embarrassment to the Patriots and Brady then deflating the footballs.

Unbelievable!

Deflategate = Weight loss - ( New Window )
And almost as ridiculous is that

the Commish is going to hear Brady's appeal. Are both sides trying to out-stupid each other?

If they are I've got my money on Goodell.
Goodell
dorgan : 5/15/2015 8:04 am : link
is merely exercising his right to hear the case as specified by the contract. In order for the union to fight this in court they're going to have to set aside that provision of the contract.

I'd like to hear a good explanation from a legal expert how they do that without invalidating other provisions.

that Kraft' Belichek and Brady will fight this hard because of the implications on the Pats prior success and legacy. Interesting to see if they are able to turn it around or lesson the impact.

Huh? Yes, let's just completely ignore all due process because one of the most overblown (heh) "scandals" in recent memory.

I think his point was that it's stupid of Goodell to not appoint someone else to hear the appeal, not that the appeal is being heard at all.

How is complying with the CBA ignoring due process? He has every right to hear the appeal, and he doesn't have to appoint anyone else to do it just because the Pats or the NFLPA want him to.
It always amazes me when people get caught

The lengths that people go to deny things. In general, I think the public is pretty understanding when people admit to making mistakes and make a sincere apology. A professional organization making such absurd claims in effort to deny this is simply embarrassing, and insulting, to be honest. You would be better off not saying anything and just say you don't agree with the conclusions or the penalty and will turn to the appeal process to correct things.

Your best argument is to accept, yeah, we did this, but this is a minor thing that goes on all the time and no real competitive benefit. That's the case the Pats should be making.
He probably want to hear the appeal himslef
steve in ky : 5/15/2015 9:44 am : link
Because Brady was uncooperative during the investigation. Maybe this time he (Brady) will make his text messages available.

Yes there were some texts about weight gain. But when I read the texts it sounds like two guys frustrated with Brady's demands and uncomfortable with the risk they were being asked to take made some "jokes" about doing the opposite to Brady as in teaching him a lesson or as some sort of payback.
It'll be 3 games instead of 4.

knicks3031 : 5/15/2015 9:59 am : link
The only thing that can be appealed is the suspension right? Not the loss of draft picks? Because like most of us, I want Brady to be active for that Cowboys game, but fuck them I hope they lose that first rounder next year

And since that's the Dallas game, that's all that really matters to me.

I still think it would be interesting to reduce it to 3, but to specify that the 3 games have to be the Patriots 3 road games against their AFC East opponents:

1) Minimizes "unfairness" to teams whose divisional rivals would have been able to face the Patriots w/out Brady

2) Maximizes the playoff implication consequences to the Patriots.

This. They're trying to play everyone out to be fools, just because there is no concrete evidence. I linked it to ARod on his last suspension. It just pisses people off, because it's ridiculous to believe their lies.
i hope they INCREASE

the penalty just for the insulting stupid attempts to explain this away with nonsense and the blanket attempt to discredit the investagation, evidence and conspiracy theories they are now slinging around to try and distract people

had he turned around and said yes the balls were a little under inflated but it didnt change the result (which i dont think anyone disputes) and it was upto the league to sort that out themselves this thing would have blown over already

the patriots cheat, they were caught with spygate, they snooped on walkthru's,the have used questionable substitutions and illeagally fast snaps to give themselves a competitive advantage. people would have far more time for them if they admitted to it and left it at that

turning himself into the next al davis grinding an axe with the league, which has stood by the patriots and given them some very questionable breaks in the past (tuck rule, longer goal posts etc) will only make things more difficult for themselves

his disperation at losing to eli in 2 straight superbowls obviously made him resort to some desperate tactics

I don't mind Goodell hearing the appeal but seeing as he was the one who issued the penalty it's like letting the Elephant guard the peanuts to have him be the appeal judge.

Usually when you appeal, you appeal to a different court. So unless I am misunderstanding how this was stated "will hear the appeal", then yes, it's absolutely ridiculous. But so is the Patriots trying to claim the boys were talking about weight. LOL!

Technically, Troy Vincent issued the penalty.

Now, if I was a conspiracy-theorist, I might guess that this gives Goodell a perfect chance to play the "good guy," by reducing the penalty considerably, or eliminating it altogether.
Was Vincent still on the Eagles

there's this, and also Kevin Garnett telling Charlie Villanueva (a guy with a condition making him unable to grow hair) that he looks like a cancer patient and then claiming he actually said "he was a cancer to his team".
