Two good series coming up. who do we like in the wcf? I have a feeling that they are going 7 games...western conference is gonna be a war.. As far as our Rangers are concerned, do you think the less physical style of the Lightning will finally allow us to play our game and open up some scoring? I get this feeling win or lose we are not gonna see 2-1, 3-2 games, I think the ECF is gonna be shootout.... what do you think?
All 4 are good teams

Anything can happen. Anyone that says anything else doesn't know what they are talking about.
CHI is the best team left of the 4, in my opinion...
arcarsenal : 5/15/2015 10:34 am : link
But ANA will give them all they can handle and I can't see that series ending in any less than 6. The Ducks are a bit underrated.

I do expect NYR/TB to be more of a wide open series with a lot of breakouts and a lot of stretch passes. Should be a good deal of north/south hockey and a lot of speed.

The best thing the Rangers have on their side is that their goaltender is the best remaining and it's not particularly close. I'd also say they've probably got the best d-corps of the remaining teams.

Will they score enough? We'll see. I'd like to think that a team that was 3rd in the league in goal scoring this season will be able to put a few more pucks in the net if they're able to play their game (which they should be in the ECF)
WCF is a toss-up
NYerInMA : 5/15/2015 11:04 am : link
I personally think Chicago will prevail based on their experience over the past few years, but Anaheim has been strong all season and I wouldn't be surprised if they got a bounce in Game 6 or 7 that pushed them through to the SCF.

In a vacuum, I think the Rangers are a better team than Tampa, especially in terms of experience and veteran leadership. However, I can easily see the Rangers struggle to get pucks past Bishop (as they have in previous matches), and the recent history in this series is not on the Rangers' side. Plus, you know that the ex-Rangers will be firing on all cylinders to prove a point as well.
Personally I think TBL is our toughest remaining series
MetsAreBack : 5/15/2015 11:18 am : link
if we can win this one, i like our chances in the Finals. A big "if" -- TBL matches up really well with us and you just know as a Rangers fan all those ex-Rangers are going to make us miserable.

Roszival was a big loss for Chicago - they were already thin on D. The thing they have going for them is all that playoff success history.... but the talent advantage they've had in years past isnt quite the same. They are beatable.

I agree. I think that if the Rangers can get through TB, they have an excellent chance to claim the Cup.
....
BrettNYG10 : 5/15/2015 11:24 am : link
I agree with you on the Hawks. I think them and the Rangers are pretty even. They have better top talent with Kane/Toews/Seabrook/Keith, but have much weaker depth this year than they have historically.
You=MAB.

.
Just convince Hank every game is game 7
Kevin999 : 5/15/2015 11:26 am : link
The ex Rangers could be a big factor. I believe Callahan had 4 goals in the 3 games vs the Rangers this season and Boyle will win a ton of faceoffs. As mentioned they will be extra motivated to beat their old team. However, if you need extra motivation in ECF's there is something wrong. This should be a more open and fast paced series and I'm hoping that gets Nash going. Unlike last year where he was not the same player after the concussion, he looks good this post season. He hasn't scored much but he's play his normal game and getting chances. Eventually a few will find their way in and he will go on a roll.
fess up - which one of you is this?
Greg from LI : 5/15/2015 11:45 am : link

I think the Hawks are going to handle the Ducks pretty easily.
As long as Kane and Toews
MookGiants : 5/15/2015 11:59 am : link
are there they'll always have a fighting chance, but this might be their final real good shot to win a cup. Kane and Toews are due huge raises and they'll have to trade off some guys (like a Patrick Sharp) to make it happen and will have no depth. They are likely to have the same kind of issues the Penguins have right now going forward. Tough to feel bad for them considering they already have 2 cups and might get a 3rd though
I like the fact that TB isnt the most physical team
gmen9892 : 5/15/2015 12:02 pm : link
I think the Rangers will have more chances to use their speed. I think Nash and CK will be able to outmuscle their D-men and get to the net a lot more than they did in the 2 previous series. It's just a matter of getting over the demons with Bishop.

I also dont know too much about TB's blueline depth. I know their top 2 Stralman-Hedman are very good, but dont know too much about after that. This could be the series that MSL finally makes an impact. He's also got a little more motivation to stick it to Yzerman (not that motivation should be a factor).
Which is part of why I think they hammer Anaheim
Greg from LI : 5/15/2015 12:03 pm : link
This is the last hurrah for this Chicago roster. They should have picked either Kane or Toews as the guy to keep and build a new roster around and traded the other one for young stars, because I agree - they're going to look as top-heavy as the Penguins soon.
....
BrettNYG10 : 5/15/2015 12:04 pm : link
Didn't their contracts kick in this year?

I thought their big mistake was signing Crawford to that deal. They should treat goalies as commodities.
their 2 and 3 pairings are average at best
Greg from LI : 5/15/2015 12:08 pm : link
A bunch of journeymen - Jason Garrison, Brayden Coburn, Matt Carle, Andrej Sustr. Nothing special. Coburn and Sustr are huge but really slow.

Stralman and Hedman are an excellent tandem, though.
their new contracts
MookGiants : 5/15/2015 12:09 pm : link
don't kick in until 2015-2016

They also have Timmonen playing at most 10 minutes a game, which will increase.
Glass given a maintenance day off
NYerInMA : 5/15/2015 12:22 pm : link
any chance AV could make that a "maintenance series" while he's at it?
Tampa is not a pushover. Rangers have the big edge in goal
Victor in CT : 5/15/2015 12:24 pm : link
with Hank. I am also wary of Chicago. I'd like to see an all Original 6 final though

Thanks.

That team could really use a Hayes.
Timonen? BAAAAHAHAHAHAHA

How does he get his jersey on over the fork? That fucker didn't worry me a few years ago when he was stinking up Philly, he sure as hell doesn't worry me now.

BTW, not only is Tampa going the bitchass route of trying to restrict ticket sales to Florida residents (hah! Like there aren't millions of ex-NYer Rangers fans in Florida), they're actually forbidding people from wearing clothing from other teams during the playoffs in their club sections. Seriously:

2014-2015 PLAYOFF DRESS CODE POLICY

In support of our hometown Tampa Bay Lightning and in furtherance of our goal to turn Amalie Arena blue for the playoffs, please note that Tampa Bay Arena, L.P. d/b/a Amalie Arena (TBA) has adopted the following Playoff Dress Code Policy (the “Playoff Policy”), which shall be in effect in the Chase Bank Club, the Lexus Lounge, and the North Party Suite (together, the “Club”) throughout the 2014-2015 Lightning playoffs.

STATEMENT OF POLICY: Only Lightning-branded or ‘neutral’ attire and apparel will be permitted in the Club and the Club-designated seating areas during 2014-2015 Lightning playoff games (including any pre-game and any post-game activities). Any attire, apparel, articles of clothing, accessories (e.g., hats, lapel pins, hair accessories, jewelry), or promotional collateral (e.g., mini-flags, noisemakers) that are branded with the name, logo, or registered mark(s) of the then-current 2014-2015 playoff opponent of the Lightning are expressly prohibited in the Club and in the Club-designated seating areas (together, the “Restricted Apparel”). For purposes of clarification, Restricted Apparel shall include any clothing and/or merchandise (whether official or unofficial) that bears any reference to the Lightning’s then-current playoff opponent (e.g., Detroit Red Wings in Round 1).
and, anyway, I was talking about the Tampa defense

It's small time bullshit. Just like Coughlin whining about needing the 12th man
....
BrettNYG10 : 5/15/2015 12:31 pm : link
I used to go the Lightning games when I lived in FL and when I was down there for holidays (they used to have a FL trip during Thanksgiving or the week of New Year's almost every year) and their crowd always impressed me. Not super knowledgeable (then again neither is MSG), but always crowded and into the game.
honestly, I don't even know how that's legal
Greg from LI : 5/15/2015 12:31 pm : link
Since the arena is publicly owned.
I may have a chance to go to game 3 or 4 and I'm
