Well good news, being the Mets aren't proactive they literally don't have a 2nd baseman or SS in the entire system worth mentioning with Hererra going down.

I'm not exactly super positive about the Mets right now either, but Ahmed Rosario is unanimously recognized as a top 100 prospect at SS, in A+ already at 19 years old.
Same pretty much with Herrera at 2B (and a little older) - who has already hit the majors.
I'd love a young power hitting OFer and maybe one of the Cuban prospects would have been perfect, but I'm not the least bit upset the Mets didn't sign a 28 year old Cuban SS who will be in A ball to start.
I'm just saying the Sox are proactive. Good or bad, they're in the market. They keep trying. They win World Series Championships, the signed Gonzo, Crawford, etc and then parted ways when it didn't work and keep trying. They have Boggy and still land Moncanda (spell?)

The Mets wouldn't even part ways with Castillo.
that I agree with, even love what the Yankees did, they signed like 8 of the top 10 IFA's knowing they'd blow their IFA budget, but so what, pick a year and be aggressive.
this year though the Red Sox neglected pitching - at least initially - they had 5 #2 starters if you consider Miley, Porcello, Kelly, Buchholz and masterson as #3's so with their investment of Panda, Hanley, and others they're an incomplete team unless those #3's pitch like #1's (and some of them can).
So that's why I pick them as a trade partner. an ace/#1 can give the Red Sox a legit playoff chance, Wheeler would have been the ideal trade candidate, but of course TJ, so I think you consider Thor or Matz and given that Matz is a lefty and Thor more valuable probably given his pedigree, he's the one I'd move.
would SA part him or anybody? Niese is a GP SP who may have been an option too.
The guy doesn't make a trade unless somebody else wants to take a big risk. The Giants took a risk on Beltran for the World Series. They missed on Beltran yet still managed to rebound and win again.
Good organizations make moves. Sandy Fold just fold his cards and teases everybody with his mouth. I think he's full of shit.
I just hope he's waiting until he feel like the team is "ready to contend" before striking with the big move.
And I don't think you need to make a big move for the sake of making a big move, but there are limited ways to add talent.
and the frustrating thing for fans is (individually at least) I had this year pegged as contention. This was before Harvey TJ and then Wheeler TJ and then Mejia suspended, Wright injured, TDA injured, and the hits keep coming.
In fairness Sandy turned Beltran and Dickey into Thor, TDA, and Herrera he's done well.
I just think he's running out of time or more accurately, I'm running out of patience, LOL.
The Blue Jays took a risk on a Cy Young Award winner and added multiple bats it hopes of winning that divison and a World Series
If Sandy Fold doesn't find a team "going for it" he folds and doesn't do anything. He couldn't even move Reyes and still can't figure out the SS position. Nothing creative.
That makes all great signings, has the farm system that is the envy of the league, and has made more fabulous trades than any team in baseball, they almost suck. Maybe its just that BSPN promotes them like the world depends on them. Where are they located again. Enough of their overblown promotion and exaggerated farm system.
Not sure how some 28 year old project is some great example of being active. I'm all for the Mets improving their pipe in any way possible but this hardly seems like a move they missed out on.
No but on BBI that's enough to make people
He is subject to the signing rules and teams like the Rox and Yankees won't be able to field a competitive offer.

That's who I'd like to go for.

I thought if he was cleared before June 15th (?) he could still be signed by either of us, as it wouldn't count toward next year's $.
It is a proactive signing though. Meanwhile in Flushing . . . .
If that's proactive I'd rather not be it.

should say:

I mentioned Altuve on the other thread, he's a guy I'd look at too.
a middle of the order (in some cases) reliable bat who has a position (good or bad). It would change the whole complexion of the team.
The Dodgers do have a log jam in the outfield.
Sandy Fold excuses: we have Hererra and no OF spot. He folds.
