A new driver, backs into an open bay at our warehouse.....now all veteran drivers know, that you check in with the Receiver first, to see if you are ALLOWED to back in.....because most warehouses are so busy, you need an appointment to make a delivery....
So this guy proceeds to back into an open bay, between two trucks......on the back of trailers, there are usually two types of doors......doors that slide up vertically into the top of the truck, or dual doors that swing open and are secured to the sides of the trailer....
This guy backs in, and catches one of doors of one of the trailers that is parked on his passenger side......gets in a fight with the driver of that trailer...things are settled....then he backs into the bay, and stands at the back of the truck.....no one is unloading him.....he finally goes into the office of the Receiver....."Do you have an appointment?" "Do I need one?" "Yes, we have a trailer arriving in 5 minutes and you are in his bay." "When can you take me in?" "We have an opening, tomorrow at 10:00 AM."
So the guy, has to hang around until tomorrow.....but he leaves with his truck.....
The next day, he comes back at 10:00 AM, with the top of his trailer, peeled back like a sardine can......he ran into the infamous bridge on Southbridge Street......clearly marked, height-wise.....
Not the end of the story.....now for strike three.....he has a load that is on the floor, and is not on pallets.....we do not unload trucks.....we forklift pallets off trucks.....we gave him pallets and he had to stack the entire load on the pallets.....
He just got his tractor trailer license, one week before this all happened......not one of the better weeks in his life.....
