He should stay up. It seems silly to me to give Dillon Gee back that rotation spot at this point. Syndergaard is clearly a major piece of the Mets' future and Gee is not.
I know he hasn't set the league on fire, but love having him as TDA's backup. It's like having a legit major league starting caliber backup catcher. Not a one-dimensional guy can is good defensively but black hole offensively.
Throw him in the dice-K role and let him spot start when guys need a break or if someone gets hit hard early. His trade value isn't building up into a suddenly valuable trade chip so might as well use him for what he is, a depth arm.
