Curtis Granderson, RF
Eric Campbell, 3B
Lucas Duda, 1B
Michael Cuddyer, LF
Daniel Murphy, 2B
Wilmer Flores, SS
Kevin Plawecki, C
Matt Harvey, RHP
Juan Lagares, CF
And here is the Cardinals' lineup:
Kolten Wong, 2B
Matt Carpenter, 3B
Matt Holliday, LF
Jhonny Peralta, SS
Matt Adams, 1B
Yadier Molina, C
Jason Heyward, RF
Randal Grichuk, CF
John Lackey, RHP
Got to say, Im hoping for a split. The Cardinals might be the best team in baseball. They have fantastic pitching and let's face it, until TDA and Wright come back we won't have a legit lineup or a particularly deep one.
Things have been looking up though. Certain players are heating up and TDA and Wright performed baseball activities today! We are still in first! LGM!
This is from somebody who liked the Bay signing at the time.
The Wilpons will never change. Penny wise pound foolish.
Need him to start crushing homeruns again. I feel, like Granderson, he hasn't been 100% yet but has figured out to take whats given, work good atbats, and do just enough which is pretty great considering we all know he can be better. Hoping the homeruns start coming.
Way to go Curtis!
Familia, come close the door!
And then there is terry Collins who hates the hit and run.
Big difference in leadership.
The guy only has 11 at bats. Hard to really talk about his average with so few.
He looks like a fish out of water out there
And he's right.
That pick off play sure didn't help either.
Harvey probably wishes he was on another team.
That pick off play sure didn't help either.
I missed a couple of innings. Let me guess, the pick off play was a Flores error?
Collins never thinks of things like that

Give me a break.
People can't comment now on a player getting picked off at 1st base in a one run game if it happens to be Flroes? It is a game thread quit getting so upset if Flores is mentioned
You didn't?
Yeah I figured it had to be Flores because God forbid we blame any of the other players that haven't done shit this game.

Lol not upset. But it's exhausting watching the usual suspects beat on Flores game in and game out as if he's the only one out there. It's funny that I knew who you were talking about. I noticed you didn't say anything about his great defensive play earlier that probably saved runs.

When i said our offense sucks i was blaming everybody.
dWAR for Grandy allowing a ball to fall in front of him and use his noodle arm.
Awesome
Sort of like how it's the difference in this game for the cardinals.
Games over if Collins in his infinite wisdom has Cuddyer in RF and Granderson in LF like everyone on planet earth other than Collins thought we would see this year.
There's wins and losses effected by the "Terry factor" in action.
Relax steve, it's really not a big deal. Sorry for being snarky. And I may be oversensitive but you, and others, are over the top with the Flores negativity. I almost feel obligated to protect the kid for some odd, irrational reason. I know he's not the greatest, but he gets way too much hate. Just my feeling.
I didn't see Seth post :)

I don't disagree. But in all honesty, we should have been able to hit Lackey. He hasn't been that great and we were swinging good bats.
But, do you disagree that Collins lack of aggressiveness contributes to losses? I mean, it's more than just the hit and run. It's also a mentality. I've said this for years. I just like a more aggressive approach. Create your own luck.

Hey, here's another one that surprisingly silent every time Flores makes a good play or good hit. Shocking.
You really really really like using the word cheerleader.
How did Thor's knee look yesterday?

but two of our best offensive weapons are out, we all know some of our bats have been struggling, and we are playing the fucking Cardinals who might be the best team in baseball riddled with good pitching. No shit offense was going to be hard to come by.

Yes I agree but you know I am a pretty big Sandy fan, and I believe that that's more of a front office call. Moneyball isn't fond of hit and run, ect. I don't know the real answer there but my gut tells me that one isn't JUST on Collins.

The guy got picked off of 1st base the bottom of the 8th in a game where they blow a save. I would have commented whomever did it. Your oversensitivity to any comment of something Flores does wrong it silly. I get it you love the kid and it bothers you to have to read something his did wrong.

Phil, it isn't a big deal but I do think you are over sensitive to anything Flores.
I hardly bashed him. I didn't even mention him by name. I only commented about the game in the moment. And as I explained before I don't hate him at all, I root for him as much as any other Met wearing the uniform.

That's fine steve. To each his own. I really don't think I'm oversensitive but I get it if that's your impression. The funny thing is that I would talk about him a lot less if people didn't irrationally kill Flores day in day out. I find that just as annoying as my "over sensitivity" probably seems to you. But that's fine. We know were each other stand.
How about all the times in Mets threads where if people said that they should move him from ss I have said that they shouldn't and since this was the plan entering the season they needed to give it much more time? Was that irrationally kill Flores as well?
Hey quit with the irrationally Kirk hate (grin)
Backman should be here
Grandy/Cuddyer should have never been brought here.
Murphy, Gee and Niese should be outta here

we really don't need to belabor the point. My comment wasn't even specifically directed at your comment. No, your post wasn't that bad. But let's get something straight, you certainly don't play the card of a Flores supporter...even though you occasionally throw in the comment that he should be given a chance for X amount of weeks. Which is fine. I know how you feel about Flores. The funny thing is that we don't feel all that different, I just choose to not focus on the negatives all the time, especially when he's one of the better offensive players on the team all while spending most of the season at the very bottom of the order.
I, for one, think this game was lost when Grandy wasn't good enough to make two plays in the 9th. The first one was letting that single falling in front of him. I get it...don't want to make a bad play and have that runner on third instead of first. But I've also seen plenty of right fielders make that catch. Hell, I think Cuddyer would have made that catch. And the second was when he had to use his elderly arm to make a throw. Just awful.
lol, sorry, I guess I did belabor the point.
My dad basically texted me the same thing, said he never wants to see him again. Its sad, i thought kirk showed promise a few years ago and it just hasn't worked out. I don't get it. Its probably because he's wearing a mets uniform, if he goes anywhere else he'll finally figure it out and start to hit.
Mets make me crazy.
Hence the 1-1 game in the 11th inning.
Maybe til memorial day
Its a horrendous strike sone

He might be a better option than any of the other sorry fucks that have batted for the mets tonight.
Is this a joke? He fouled off like 6 pitches. That wasn't a bad AB at all. He made him work.

You are right, that one was directed at you but it was hardly a harsh comment. Sorry the snarky comment bothered you so much.
I fully agree.

I'd prefer Pedro Lopez (currently the manager at Binghamton). Backman is too outspoken/vindictive to be a good manager in the majors
There we go got a guy on
Also Harvey is a great pitcher. He struggled early on and then found his groove or "stuff" to finish with 8 scoreless.
Yes, his defense leaves a lot to be desired, but you have to hope that maybe he learns from his mistakes and hopefully gets better as the year goes on.
Plus, hes not the worst SS out there defensively. Middle of the pack in Range Factor. His fielding stats are right there with Semien, Desmond, Andrus, and Segura (all of whom are SS' known for their bats more than their glove).
Familia will likely hit a real slump at some point and hopefully we don't all lose our minds.
