NFT: Fantasy Baseball - Buy-Low/Sell High Targets

Bobby Humphrey's Earpad : 5/19/2015 1:12 pm
OK, so we're closing in on the two-month mark of the season. Time to look at improving the squad. Who are your buy-low targets and sell-high trade bait?

I need pitching but it seems that the Chris Sale and Corey Kluber windows have closed; maybe DeGrom's is still open. McCutchen is the biggest name who may still be available from a hitting perspective.

I'm looking to sell high on Jake Odirizzi, AJ Burnett and Mark Teixeira.

Thoughts?

on Utley. He looks much better in the 6th hole.
Do people still get away with buy low/sell high deals?

the owners in my leagues are smart enough to not be reactionary to a poor start. That being said, trading is incredibly difficult in these leagues, because every owner thinks they're getting screwed on every offer, and even if they like the deal, they usually fear the negative follow up reaction to any deal.

What type of league do you play? If it's a points league, I love Pujols as a "buy low". He's still producing points despite .240 BA, due to his always low K rate. The same could be said for Bautista. His overall points are a little low for him, but he missed some time. When he's played, he's been very productive.
don't think you'll have to buy low on Utley,,,

he's probably on the waiver wire in most leagues...

My league is very similar, where deals have dwindled because nobody wants to take chances. But you will see a flurry of deals once people get bored and where offers are fair in terms of value.

Somehow I do not think he can keep up the level he has been at so far especially if it isn't a keeper league where young guys are at a premium

Sell Harang if someone is looking for pitching. I actually own Harang and Burnett and am going to try flipping them both for picks. I'm trying to rebuild my team in a long-term keeper league.

It's tough because it's super competitive though. I'm not going to get anyone to believe that a guy like Harang won't regress.

Burnett there's a better chance because he was good in PIT 2 years ago. Still putting too many guys on base, but..

hmm...would AJ Burnett and Tex be enough to get Strasburg?
.
arcarsenal : 5/19/2015 2:14 pm : link
I mean, probably not but it depends on the structure of the league. If I had Strasburg, I'd want more than that but I'd at least be willing to listen.
No way

I trade Strasberg for Tex and AJ
Last week I had a head scratching situation happen in
aimrocky : 5/19/2015 2:27 pm : link
one of my points leagues. I needed a SS, like everyone else, and offered Kinsler and Garrett Richards for Tulo (the guy who had Tulo was starting DJ Lemahieu at 2nd). He rejected the deal, which I understood, but he rejected it quickly with no response.

The next day I told one of the guys I work with about it (he's also in the league). He runs into his office and 15 minutes later I see a deal go through with the Tulo owner. This guy gave him Howie Kendrick and got back Jon Lester. The Tulo owner spent the rest of the day getting ripped.
A friend of mine tried to trade me Texiera for Ellsbury
superspynyg : 5/19/2015 2:47 pm : link
I told him to get his head examined. No way I give up Ellsbury for Tex. Ellsbury has a .320 avg with 14 steals. Tex is an injury waiting to happen.
Victor Martinez just hit the DL
